  1. Hey Jim...I know there is a post floating around that actually showed the screen present during install, but this weekend I will scan the pages of the manual that came w/ the disc. This manual shows all areas that detailed route guidance has been added. There are a good amount of them! Coolest is most of Canada has been added. Dont know if I'll ever use it, but....Hey, if I ever wanted to try it. As for the second part, I have never seen the wheel size option! Sounds like a good idea!
  2. Sorry, I was searching "wink" "wink" all other options without buying it from the stealership, but ultimately justified it as a end of year business expense write off and forked up the $230 for it from Sewell Lexus. It was worth it I feel. Espescially because the over ride is still in place!!
  3. Hello All. This post is to confirm the rumors that there is chrome under the black paint on your grills. I was very very nervous about this but rubbed off a small corner and saw that pristine glow of chrome. I know some of you hate chrome, but I wanted the 06-08 grill without replacing and repainting the parts under the headlights. Parts needed: Aircraft remover 5-7 hard bristle toothbrushes 5 childrens sized toothbrushes Painters plastic drop cloth masking tape towel First lift the hood and place the drop cloth across the whole engine bay, draping over the complete front bumper (this will protect all parts from the splashing of the remover on the bristles of the brush. Second, mask off the grill surround and drop cloth the hood Third, put aircraft remover on the toothbrush and go to town on the grill (you cant rub hard enough). After hours(approx 3) the grill will be all chrome. Just wipe off all the residue you can, being very careful not to get it on any other painted surface besides the grill. It will destroy ur paint in less than a minute. If you like the chrome grill, it works great and looks great. Just take ur time. Sorry I dont have pics of the in job in progress. I was in the zone.
  4. Hey guys, I have been the silent observer for about a year now. I have an 02 LX470 that had Nav version 3.1 installed. I ordered 8.1 from Sewell Lex about 2 days ago and just got the 8.1 disk from FedEx today. I installed it and guess what!!! THE BYPASS HAS BEEN LEFT IN PLACE. Everyone has been complaining about the lockout feature being taken out of prior versions. I guess www.lexusisnotmymom.com got somewhere because I can still bypass drive through the secret menu and enter new destinations while driving. No hack.. Just popped in the new disk and drove OFF!! Hope this helps those that are weary of spending the 200 duckets on a nav update. Still abit much.
  5. Great post! I found the following site a great utility for pre '03 470's. I just bought my 02 a week ago and had absolutely no probs with the dvd's playing while driving after reading the info on the below link. Has great pics of all associated cuts and wire harness connector locations! Don't worry, I'm not too much of a noob! Was a yota Tech for 4 years til the pay and hours got to me! Had a 99 4runner lifted w/ 33's on it until last week. Luvin the Lex though! Anyways...great to be here. Great forum!! http://www.pbase.com/drexx/dvdnavsystem
