  1. I go by the rule "when buying used buy all the warranty you can." This will be your only oportunity to upgrade the certified warranty. You can buy anywhere from a 5/100,5/125,6/100 or a 6/125. All are Lexus Certified warranties with ZERO deductibles.

PS.....I happen to have 3 new 2008- RX400hs left on the lot that sticker about $49000 and I can sell for $39000.

  2. It looks like you live in Florida right? I would guess its a corrosion problem of some sort due to the salt in your region. I could be wrong! Check this out from the Lexus web site.

    Corrosion Perforation Warranty

This warranty covers repair or replacement of any original body panel that develops perforation from corrosion (rust-through), subject to the exceptions listed in the Basic Warranty page. The Corrosion Perforation Warranty coverage is for 72 months, regardless of mileage.

Just found this for you to Basic warranty covers everthing except:

*Airborne chemicals, tree sap, road debris (including stone chips), rail dust, salt, hail, floods, windstorms, lightning and other environmental conditions.

Some Lexus dealers are difficult to deal with when it comes to this issue. Notice the part 72 months reguardless of mileage!!!!!!

Let me know if this helps.

One day before dealer warranty expired (thought I had a couple of weeks...surprise!) I purchased (I think) a Lexus Platinum 7 yr. 100k dealer warranty for $1575. I received quotes from $1575 (which I was told was dealer cost) to $2375 & no two dealers had the same quote. Amazing! I was planning to call a couple of dealers, & when I continually got different quotes, I contacted Lexus dealers in Atlanta, Denver, Reno, two dealers in Houston & Glendale CA.

Today, I received a Fedex copy of the VSA Application from the dealership where I purchased the warranty. The Acknowledgement section reads...I, the applicant, apply to GS Adminstrators, Inc. (GSA) for a Vehicle Service Agreement (VSA)... The last sentence reads...I UNDERSTAND THE VSA IS NEITHER A WARRANTY OR AN INSURANCE POLICY.

I've read on the message boards & forums where there are third party warranties but I specifically requested a Lexus platinum dealer warranty & have no idea if that is what I purchased. Fortunately, I purchased it with Amex card so it can be cancelled without a problem.

The top of the form LEXUS printed on it...other than that, there is no reference to it being a Lexus warrant, or even a warranty at all. Can someone help me?

Many thanks from a frustrated chick...

  4. Do you carry Health Insurance? So why not insurace on a machanical vehicle. The same goes for the car. No matter how perfect a Lexus may be it still can have its problems. Thats why we carry warranties.

Here is one, if the car is built as it should, why do you need a Warranty? I say it does not.
