  1. I had a total loss in a accident at other driver's fault last July. Here in Florida, the law says if the repair costs more than 80% of the current value of the vehicle, it's a total loss. Trust me, you will never get back what your car is actually worth.

If your accident is caused by other driver, don't wait, hire a attorney NOW, it's vey painful to deal with insurance company by youself!

  2. I got almost 20K now since Nov. 2008. Now, dealer informs me while the car was in regular service that tires need to be replaced by next service (25K). Which tires are the good choices now? The ones currently on the car are Michelin Energy MXV4 S8, 235/55R18. Thanks.

  3. Went for a test drive yesterday. So called "World's largest Lexus dealer" had only two 450h. One 2-wheel drive in the showroom and one 4-wheel drive not even for test drive (according to the sales). My wife and I took turns driving for about 5 miles each trip, and we were NOT impressed at all. With all the new technologies Lexus put into the new model, we did expect more power, more torque, but, we just did not feel that. Compared the new designs inside and out with our '08 400h, we just love ours much better. Yes, it's more fuel efficient, NAV now has HDD instead of DVD, and they are able to keep the price about the same (by offering steel rim on spare tire now goes under the trunk?), it still does not convince us to trade our '08 in. Besides, there's only limited quantiy / colors are available (the salesperson showed me there will be only 6 available this month with only 1 4-wheel drive), and there's only one option you can choose now (go check it out on Lexus website since dealer doesn't even have printed brochures). We are really kind of disappointed about the new 450h if compared to '08 400h.

  4. Wow, thanks for taking time posting all these. I had the 12V battery replaced once and asked dealer to reset almost everything you mentioned here. Others like all the addressese / phone numbers you previously kept in the NAV would be gone, too, and dealer can't do anything about that. I am wondering if the new 450h has the solution for this since it now comes with solution. I forgot to ask about this when I went for the test drive on the 450h yesterday. 12V battery will need to be placed sooner or later, don't forget to write down all the addresses / phone numbers beforehand.

  5. If they only put that on the 04-09 Rx's...

The more i look at the 010 Rx's the more i want to never see one ever again. I don't know why, but i just don't like the styling. But i will give it time, it might somehow grow on me.

I mean, when the 04 Rx came out, i thought it was "odd" but 6 years later here i am driving one... so i'll give it time.

Well, they did offer that overseas for long time ago, see two photos attached showing such. Another photo shows that it does have rear bumper protector, very odd. I guess they just concentrate on the expensive "standard" equipments and forget about the cheap one.

  6. I think Lexus Taiwan offers most comprehensive standard equipments on 2010 RX450 of all. All these are included besides NAV + Remote Touch - Panoramic roof; Mark Levison sound system with 16 speakers; 6-disk DVD changer (NOT CD); HUD; Electric folding side mirrors. It all looks very nice, but the selling price is about US$80,000. No wonder Lexus gives out everything.

In Japan, where Lexus is just a brand new brand (since 2006), Lexus offers barebone RX (used to be called Toyota Harrier), I believe there's diesel version as well.

  7. I totally agree on your observation. You can log on to Lexus websites in different countries and you will see there different equipments for different markets. It's true that Lexus offeres more stuff in some regions, but they sell them at much higher prices as well. Keep in mind that some counties post hefty import tarrif on cars, in order to attract customers, Lexus does offer more standard stuff on their cars.

  8. Anybody checked out these features yet?

    http://www.lexus.com/models/RX/features/in...up_display.html

Heads up display is my favorite. I haven't yet heard though if the nav is hard drive, though the Prius will be later in the new model year. And at least one Lexus has LED headlights now. The RX? anybody?

A week ago, a local Lexus dealer contacted me for different issue. I asked about the availablity of RX450h and was told it should be in the showroom in about two weeks. I will definitely go check out all the new features on the new car. Meanwhile, I am wondering why USA market is so late getting RX450h. Other countries (Taiwan, Japan, etc) already have it on the road for sometime now. Worse economy than others?

  9. Yes, everything has been reset, but, that's what we all expected. It's the Hybrid / ICE engines runs different now (and I got this confirmed by others on this board, it's not my imagination) that concerns me and I live in usually warm (if it's not hot) S. Florida. My previous 2K+ miles to colder states (all below 40), the MPG was about 24 (with 3 passenger and a cargo box on top). I am pretty sure there's some issues here with the system. I will keep you gals / guys updated after I contact with Lexus again.

  10. Thanks for all the responses.

Just came back from 600 Miles trip and found out what kikogirl decribes - ICE runs more than before (battery replaced), therefore MPG is lower. Speed was set at 70MPH most of time and the overall MPG is 23.5 compared to similar trip before, it's 25 (all flat highway, temp around 60 - 70).

Guess I will have to bring up this issue to Lexus again. It really bothers me.

  11. Hi, All:

I'd like to share this with you, especially Lexus has failed to give me explanations.

On a 2K+ trip in December, the small battery was dead a day before heading home after parked for abour 4 hours. Mine is '08 model with less than 15K miles.

Car was jumped start (Lexus sent a locksmith who can't even locate the battery, to rescue me through AAA, but that's another story), and I made an appointment with the deal right after the car was back home.

The diagnosis was "Battery will not hold load, replace battery to solve", with this replacement on top of 15K service, it took the dealer more than 5 hours to finish. I was given a loaner naturally.

Then, when the car was picked up, I noticed the differences right away. The hybrid system is not working the same anymore. On "Energy Monitor" screen, MPG numbers start jumping all over the place. I always pull out gently by just allowing the battery to work, after the ICE kicked in, the MPG always show above 10, not it shows 3, 5, 7. It used to that when I backed up the gas, the MPG would show 99 right away, not it shows 55; 45; 60, the, eventually 99. On high way, set on cruise control (65 or 70 MPH), MPG numbers changed anyway from 11 to 40MPG, it used to be changed between 23 to 28. The system becomes, let me put it this way, very sensitive.

Brought it back a week after, the dealer arranged a very nice guy claimed to have with Lexus since the beginning to drive with me. We took term driving for about 20 miles and I did my best to explain the differences I discovered. His conclusion was everything seems perfect, but "keep your eyes on the average". My average is 26.5 so far (40% highway), down about 1 mile from before.

Has anyone else here every encourtered this situation? I really would like to know.
