I have a 2002 ES300 with approximately 54000 miles on. I purchased in September 2007 with just under 51000 miles.
I have had the oil changed twice, once when I first got the car and once about 3000 miles into having the car. It has been burning oil very quickly, causing my oil light to come on every few hundred miles.
Recently, the check engine light has come on and often flashes at me. The vehicle shudders when at a stop, such as a red light, and also hesitates quite a bit around 40mph. The light has continually began to flash more often than before. Also, a lot of white/blueish smoke comes out of the exhaust when I first start the car.
I had my local mechanic get the OBD-II readings, and he got the P0300 code, specifically P0305 and P0306, indicating that cylinders 5 and 6 are misfiring.
Is this something common in this vehicle? Also, what would most likely be causing this problem, and what would I need to do to have it repaired? Any estimated costs on repairs? Is the vehicle still safe to drive? I am scheduled to take it to a local Lexus dealership for service tomorrow morning, but any feedback would be helpful. Thanks!
