  1. Solved : Turns out that after switching to a Vais unit a different issue turned up . We sent a video and Vais suggested there might be another XM unit somewhere in the car . We searched to trunk and found a Sirius Tuner connected to an interface . We removed this unit and now everything works as it should .

My thanks to Rick at Precision Performance , Davie FL. for being persistant .

  2. Any Radio xperts out there ? Installed an iSimple and XMv200 and it works great for about a month . Then everything blacks out .No nav , no camera, no volume control and no AM/FM. I go to JM Lexus and they reboot and voila it works . This lasts a while and bing it does it again . After several moths I switched to a Vais SL3 and while the radio works on all XM stations the Text showing the station number , genre etc is constantly flashing . I switched the xm tuner out and rebooted but same thing . Driving me nuts . Any ideas ??? Thanks

  4. Just updated the audio system in my LS430 with iSimple issr 12, bluetooth audio and V200 XM tuner . Very sweet and simple . Now I have ability to stream my Samsung apps to the car audio, I now have XM interfaced through the car audio system . I can watch a ball game on the phone on MLB.com app and listen to it through the car and I can watch a movie on Streampix or Netflix and listen to the audio throughout the car. The only thing now is the nav screen and system is outdated .

definately worth the installation costs .

  6. I'm told by our Body Shop Manager, Bobby Glaize, that this can be pushed through insurance. Please contact him and he'll help you get it through your insurance... Bobby Glaize, JM LEXUS Body Shop Manager, 954-969-3233.

How about a broken mirror bracket that causes wind noise . Ever hear of this issue ?

  7. So far the Dealer is pushing back on this. The car, an 06 ,has had this issue since 2007 and been repaired 3 times. I purchased an extended protection plan which of course doesn't cover it or the broken mirror bracket in the drivers door. This is a 22,0000 mile car that has never even been in a car wash . I have owned 9 Lexus in the past and currently have an IS, GX and SC. I guess all the costs involved with recalls and the tsunami have Toyota pinching pennies at the expense of their loyal customers. Looks like the battle is about to begin. :chairshot:

  8. Has anyone with an sc430 experienced a top hinge going bad? I have an 06 with 25,000 miles and several times the top will not fully close . The red light stays on and the top will not go down. I turn off and on but the top will not fully close or open. The chime always rings as if a door was open , rendering the car undrinkable. According to JM Lexus the hinge is bent and needs replacement for $4400. Of course the extended protection plan doesn't cover it. Has anyone had this experience and how was it resolved.

  9. ARE YOU MISSING SOME STATIONS ON YOUR VIAS TECH SLX WITH AN XMD1000 XM TUNER ? HERE IS A SIMPLE SOLUTION TO RELOAD ALL THE STATIONS.

    GO TO SAT 3

PRESS AND HOLD THE NUMBER 4 POSITION ON THE PRESETS

WAIT FOR THE BEEP AND "RELOAD" APPEARS

CHANGE TO SAT 1 AND WAIT FOR ABOUT 2 OR 3 MINMUTES(MINE DID IT INSTANTLY)

THATS ALL THERE IS TO IT. NOW ALL XM STATIONS WILL BE AVAILABLE

PRESS TEXT OT CHANGE FROM UPLOAD TO THE STATION TEXT DESCRIPTION.

  10. HAS ANYONE EVER SEEN AN SC430 BODY KIT THAT WOULD CREAT THE LOOK OF A CORVETTE OR THE EARLY 60'S T BIRD CONVERTABLE BEHIND THE FRONT SEATS. THIS WOULD COVER OR REPLACE THE EXISTING BLACK COVER BEHIND THE REAR SEATS( IF YOU WANT TO CALL THEM THAT). THIS WOULD GIVE THE CAR A ROADSTER LOOK WHEN THE TOP IS DOWN.

  11. Hi guys ...

I've read the tire threads and you've convinced me. I've decided to replace the original Bridgestone Potenza run-flats on my newly acquired '02 SC430 (11k miles) with high-performance Michelin Pilot Sport tires. They seem to be the consensus choice for pairing roadworthy performance with strong, predictable tread life. Problem is, I'm not sure which of the Pilot Sport tire models will best suit the car.

Aside from the A/S (all season) model, which isn't of much practical value in tropical Miami, there are several different models and tread styles in the Pilot Sport line for the SC's recommended 245/40ZR18 tire size. The obvious question becomes, which tire/model is best suited for my SC430?

    Michelin Pilot Sport

If you've had hands-on experience with Michelin Pilot Sport tires, I would appreciate your suggestions and recommendations on which model to buy.

    Thanks.

FOOTNOTE: If you live in South Florida and would like to have the Bridgestone Potenza run-flats which are currently on my car, they're yours. Free. Remarkably, they appear to have about 80% of their original tread. However, please keep in mind that they're more than 5 years old. If you'd like to have the tires and are willing to meet me at Sears or Costco in northeast Miami-Dade County when they are removed, please post your contact information in this thread and I'll contact you.

  12. INSTALLED BY CIRCUIT CITY IN LESS THAN 1 HOUR. A PERFECT INSTALLATION. SOUNDS GREAT, WORKS AS A FACTORY INSTALLED ITEM. PRESETS APPEAR ON THE RADIO HEAD AND THE STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS WORK FINE. INSTALLED THE ANTENNA INSIDE ON THE DASH CLOSE TO THE A PILLAR. SIGNAL IS FINE.

MY QUESTION IS WHY DOESN'T LEXUS INTALL THIS AT THE PORT AND BRING IT UP TO THE STANDARDS OF THE REST OF THE LINE OR OFFER IT AS AN ACCESSORY AT THE DEALERSHIP. IS THERE ONE SC CUSTOMER THAT WOULDN'T BY IT?

  13. THANKS FOR THE INFO: IS THERE A TRICK TO THE REMOVAL OF THE SEAT HEATER SWITCH PLATE. DID YOU PULL IT UP OR FOWARD. WHERE ANY TOOLS REQUIRED TO GET IT OUT? DID YOU DISCONNECT THE BATTERY? DID YOU CONNECT ANYTHING TO THE AUX ON THE VAIS UNIT? ACCORDING TO THE MANUFACTURER YOU CAN PLUG IN AN I POD VIA THE EAR PHONE JACK.

I RECENTLY PURCHASED A VAIS/XM UNIT AND WANT TO INSTALL IT IN A 2006 SC430. WHAT IS INVOLVED AND HOW DIFFICULT IS THE RADIO REMOVAL.

I installed the VAIS unit in my 2005 model, it took about an hour. The most time consuming portion is running cables and getting the equipment in place. I installed mine in the area under the glove compartment. It has been about 6 months since I performed the installation, so I am writing this from memory.

To remove radio, do the following:

    1. Open center console and gently pull seat heater switch plate out which then will allow you to pull the plate covering the gear shift and the portion below the radio that includes the ashtray. Note: You will need to take gear shift out of the park position to get cover off. There are several wires that all have plugs that you will need to unplug to fully remove the gear cover.

    2. Remove two 10mm bolts below radio.

    3. Now grip the bottom portion of the climate control panel that is located above the radio with both hands and carefully rock it as you pull it towards you. Just like the gear shift cover, it is held in only with clips, no screws. Once you pull it out, you will have access to the two screws above the radio.

    4. Remove 2 screws above radio and pull radio out.

    5. Unplug connector on rear of radio and follow instructions that came with the VAIS unit.

NOTE: The Lexus service manual always advises removing the negative battery terminal before removing anything from the dash. This is to avoid accidentally triggering the airbags. If you choose to do this, you will lose all the saved memory locations in your GPS and you will also need to re-set the limits on both your power seats in order to get the seat memory feature to work. This is explained in the owners manual.

Good luck! BTW, the VAIS unit works well and sounds great.
