  1. Thanks for all the help. It looks as if I will be purchasing a GPS and placing it right in the middle of my Navi screen -- How dumb does that look :0) ?!?! I'm with you, laviticus, my wife will not be happy about that either ... But what can you do but deal with it!

Good afternoon all! I'm in the AF and starting in March 2010, my wife and I will be stationed in Germany for 3 years. I wanted to inquire if there is an English navigation disc for Germany that I can install in my '06 Is 350? Is this something I can purchase from a dealer, or will I have to purchase from an aftermarket retailer? It would defeat the purpose of having NAV if I had to use a Garmin or Tom-Tom GPS :0)

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Rob, I am a Soldier stationed in Germany. I own a 2007 IS 350 and have the same problem that you will have once you transfer here to Germany. I have been unable to find a DVD with German road maps that are compatible for my navi. I have been told by a dealership here that the required American specs DVDs do not exsist. I have further been told by the German dealer that I could purchase a German Navi for my car for around 2,500 Euro, however, he could not garantee that it would function properly in my car. I was recently in Las Vegas where I inquired at a Lexus dealership and was told that it would cost $17,000.00 to have the European Navi installed into my car there. I find it baffling that Lexus has not been able to or refuses to assist in this increasingly annoying problem. As it stands now, I am looking for a Garmin or Tom-Tom that I can attach to the screen of my navi to help me get around Europe. Senseless, right!! Oh and BTW my wife is furious!!!!!

  3. I had my oil changed recently, this time it was not at the dealer. However, I can't get the "Oil Maintenance Required" light to shut off. Does anyone know how i can make this happen? I have gone into the maintenance section on the screen and reset the dates but that didn't work. Any help would be greatly appreciated .. Thanks

  4. BFE means, "Bum F**k Egypt"

Parking at the airport and I never leave my IS there. I let the wife use her Altima or the blazer we have. The 350 stays in the garage for the most part.

Hi - I bought my IS 250 3 weeks ago and I LOVE it. I park a million miles away - but everyone is pretty much used to that by now. Sorry for the dumb question but what does, "BFE" mean?
  5. Does anyone out here know how I can turn off the traction control? After pressing the button to turn it off, the first hint of traction loss, it turns back on. I need to get the tires spinning to move in the snow. Any help would be great. Thanks

You need to hold the button for a few seconds.

I have done that, however, the minute the car feels the tires spin--the traction turns back on. It's actually very dangerous. You are pulling out in the street and then the car almost just shuts down, nothing. I was caught in that position the other day, almost got T-boned by another car coming from the left.

  6. On the 30K mile service, it says to replace the brake fluid...why is that necessary. I have never heard of doing this on any car. My dealer wants $502.00 to do this 30K service and I am going to do everything I can myself and then take it in for the rest.

Also, does anyone have a website that I can go to and get a list of the TSB's for a 2006 IS350? I know that there are several posts with a link for this side, but when I click the link it shows an error on the page. I have also tried a google search.

    Thanks for the help.

Are TSP's free of charge, or is there some charge with them?

  7. My 2006 IS350 is about 1500 from the 20K service. I wanted some opinions on people who have had this service accomplished. What does it entail? Also, I had a 2001 IS300 a few years ago, and Lexus was awesome with the service, everything was covered, including the service. When did this change? I hear testimonials of overpriced and horrible service. Has the customer become that irrelevant to Lexus? Thanks for any information you can provide.

  8. Hello,

I'm am on the verge of selling the best car I have ever driven, my 2007 IS 350.

Here's what happened yesterday. You know when your at a red light and the car in front inches up, and then you inch up? ... well, I let go of the break, inched up, and then slid a few more inches than I wanted (I didn't hit anyone, thank god). But yesterday in the snow, my car was helpless, I did NOT feel safe at all, I was driving soooo slow and I still skidded when I was stopping.

How GOOD are snow tires?? I have to drive an hour to work each day. I'm afraid to drive my lexus, so I rented a car... thinking I may sell it if I have to. What should I do?

Is Snow tires good enough? Some people also said to put weights or sand bags in the back. What should I do?? I want to get a new car this weekend or snow tires, what should I do?

Can anyone who drives (somewhat long distances) in the snow please respond. I am scared as hell to drive in the snow anymore with this car.

    HELP!? :)

    Thanks again

    Jeff.

I live in Utah and have snow tires, and about 100 or so lbs. in the trunk of my car. I dropped from the 18's down to 17's for the snow. Buying an extra set of rims and tires for the winter is the best thing to do. My IS350 does just fine with the Hankooks on them. A lot of people think the

Hankooks are not that good of a tire, but I have not had any issues with them in the snow, or sleet. Of course there is nothing you can do when its icy. Dont get rid of the car, not worth it.

  9. When the display for "Miles to Empty" reads 0, does anybody know how many miles you can drive beyond that before getting gas? Just curious, because when I filled it up when the Miles to Empty read 0, my car only took about 15 gallons.

I had the same issue this week. The indicator read 0 and I was only able to add 15 gallons. I thought the tank was 17.1 ?
