  1. Just got the scan done at AutoZone and it came back with P0773 - "Shift Solenoid E electrical malfunction SSV DSL".

Can anyone help me understand this in plain english.

    Thank you

check your voltage output from your battery with the car running, it should be between 13 and 15volt, had the same problem altenator wasnt putting out, it was going bad, replaced altenator problem went away.

i had the same code 98 es300 turned out to be my altenator not putting out enough voltage. check you voltage form your battery it should be between 13.5 and 15.5v volts. changed my alternator problem went away. hope this helps.

  2. OKAY. Engine cranks fine and sounded like it wanted to start up for a long time but now there is nothing but cranking. cranking - cranking- cranking- nothing. Pushing gas to floor and holding - cranking . nothing. pumping it... cranking nothing. Whats going on? We checked all of the chip fuses, maybe relays melted, i dotn know... I was idling... and then the car died.. and i had to roll it. what is up with my baby lexus?

  4. I had a problem with the check engine light coming on with the p0773 electrical short circuit on the tranny solenoid valve.1998 es300. Found out that it wasnt the valve at all it was a problem with the altenator not putting out enough voltage. Changed the altenator and the code went away, i was getting the proper voltage throughout the system. It also made the abs/trac warning lights go off. So check your altenator voltage output from your battery and it should be between 13.5 and 15.1 volts.
