  1. I just had the Raytel 4200 installed in my 2004 GX470 and could not be happier. They even managed to connect it to the volume down button so when calls come in or go out the stereo turns itself down.

    Raytel is now TellPhone

The newer 5000VI system uses your navigation screen as it's display system. VERY SHARP!

  2. I purchased this unit to install in my GX but decided to go with the headrest units instead, Please contact me for pictures and purchase info.

What you see is what you get, there are no other parts, hardware, wires, bolts etc.

I do not have the installation manual and do not know if this is plug and play. It is OEM so you would think it would be prewired but I can not say for sure.

I just want to get back what I have into it, I am asking $950 but may consider trades or accept less if you are a good negotiator.

THIS IS IS THE OEM RES (rear entertainment system) FROM A 2004 GX470 I DO BELIEVE IT WILL WORK WITH 2000-2007.

  3. I have a 2004 GX 470. I've seen some info on the net about overriding the Nav so that it can be used while driving. The instrutions mention going to the menu screen and the volume screen and toching the "soft" button. On my volume screen it just has the numbers. Anyone know if it is possible to override the Nav on this model?

    Thanks.

I also have the 2004 Nav system

    here is the trick.

turn the vehicle on and enter accept

    go to menu

on the top right of the screen touch DVD, you will see the DVD NAV Disk info screen, you now touch the screen in the following sequence (just normally (not too slow but not fast, JUST NORMALLY)

    Top Left Corner

    Bottom Left Corner

    Top Left Corner

    Bottom Left Corner

    Bottom Right

then press and hold you finger on "override" until it UN-highlights, then select back and use as usual .

THIS WILL RESET AFTER VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF.

(There are no buttons in the corners, you just touch in the corner.)

  4. No sir. Vehicle wasnt designed to run at different height. There must be a mechanical reason like towing. Ive hauled a very heavy load in the back of the Gx twice and the air suspension raised the rear end to level the vehicle making it look like the vehicle's empty! But as someone mentioned it lowers to help the owner unload stuffs. Ive actually used it on my dad before who at times has a very bad gouty arthritis attack and that extra inch or two lower helps a lot to a person in pain.

You can use the High mode to 19 MPH and the low to 9 MPH according to the manual.

Low for loading things, High for increased ground clearance, very helpful for climbing a steep hill, keeps the tow package out of the dirt.

  5. mgowe1, did you have the clunk TSB done already? If not, print out a copy and show it to them.

The Kearney Mesa Dealer (those &*&%%$$!) said it felt like it was already done as mine was not too bad.

You wanna know for sure weather your GX has the issue?

Place the vehicle in drive on a level surface, apply the brake firmly (regular brake not hand brake) and switch the ride control from "N" to Low and then to high. If you have the issue you will think something is falling out from the bottom of the vehicle!

  6. Will the TSB and parts replacement include a 2003 GX470 with 29,800 miles and out of their standard warranty period? Thank you.

If you make enough noise about it, you can get it done for nothing....as it should be. It's been a known issue with this vehicle and Lexus should have fixed it permanently as soon as they knew it. But, they say because it is not a safety issue, they will only fix it if a customer complains and if it is still under the 50,000 warranty.

You will see on the newest TSB that part of this service is covered to 70,000 miles and part only until 50,000 miles. Even my Lexus dealership did not know that part of it was covered under the 70,000 mile drivetrain warranty. I had to tell them to check the latest TSB.

In the end, I got the whole thing done for nothing on my 2004 GX470 with over 60,000 miles.

The newest TSB is April 2006. If anyone wants a copy of it, PM me with your email address and I will email you a PDF of it.

Could you send a copy of the TSB to djkim@iland.net Thank You Darrell

Please send a copy to mgowe1@yahoo.com, thank you

  7. I am in San Diego area, my closest dealer is Kearney Mesa Lexus, So far I am, not impressed with their level of service and support, are there any recommendations as of what the best dealership in the area is? I have heard a few good things about Carlsbad Lexus. Kearney Mesa Lexus said the Clunk was "just something I would have to live with, I did after all buy a truck". :(
