The key had to be ordered, using my VIN; it is one of those funky inverted keys so it cannot be copied. Yes, my car is a '97!

My friend, I would love to shed a bit of light for you! I too was looking at paying over $200 to replace, so I did some research and found keylessride.com Keyless Ride; I bought my FOB for $70.00, programmed it myself (with instructions from the company) and it works like a charm. I was thrilled!

I purchased a new key for my '97 ES300 through my local Toyota Dealership for $70. I do most of my work through them because it is the same as a Camry; I save money that way!

My 1997 ES300 has 170,000 plus miles on it and has been great up until recently; I am currently having the power brake booster system replaced. Also, since I had complications with the booster system, my traction system went awry! When I priced the parts through my local Lexus dealership, the price was over $1000 to repair.
I too am having the same problem with the LCD, also the lights on my radio buttons are going out, some do not show up at night so I guess at what I am pressing!

My ex-fiance worked as a mechanic for a Toyota Dealership; he was always working on Lexus and was the reason I bought a Lexus. A lot of the parts for the ES300, are basically the same as the Camry. I have used both Toyota and Lexus, they both worked out great for me.
