  1. I have a 2004 GX 470 with less than 30k miles. The drivers seat is unbearable. The lumbar support is too low and causes backaches if I use it. The seats are too short and hard for long trips. I am of normal size for a man(5'11"--180#). Does anyone have any suggestions for modifications or proper seat adjustments to prevent backaches?

Our 2004 GX 470 driver's seat is comfortable with lumbar adjustments feeling fine. It does seem to help on longer drives to reposition the seat settings to increase comfort. Raising and lowering the seat is sometimes forgotten when adjusting the seat. Rember to also adjust the steering wheel as the angle and reach of your arms can affect back feelings. We wish the passenger seat had lumbar. Good Luck!

Thanks for the tip. It seems to help.

  2. I also have a 2004 GX with 21,000 miles on it. I have never found the drivers seat to be uncomfortable at all. I had it on one 4,000 mile trip from Wisconsin to Phoenix and back and it was just fine. I adjusted the seat every so often along the way just to change my position somewhat, but I was never uncomforatble. Was your seat always like that or has it gottem worse over time?

I noticed I was having back discomfort for a few weeks after I bought the car but didn't connect it to my car seat. When I uninflated the lumbar support, my bachaches went away after a few days so now I simply do not use lumbar support. In my Jeep Grand Cherokee I always used it at its most inflated (forward support) position and it was comfortable for long trips. How tall are you?

  3. i just upgraded awhile ago with a copy version and everything is straightforward. all it say is dont turn the power off and after a few seconds. its 6.1 version already. but be sure to put the correct map location as default is set i think on location 8 or 9 and i live in california so when i tried searching for walmart its showing 2000 miles away from my current location.

Can you sell a copied version to me?

  5. No offense please, as I know this will offend enough people, but, to everyone that has "issues" coming up after they purchase their car: before I buy a car, particularly one that I will be committing to pay for for many months, I would have done a lot of research, touched it, smelled, drooled over it, sat in it, driven it, and everything I can think of except, that it belongs to me, and before singing my name over and over and over again on the dotted lines. I can understand if something breaks, or doesn't work right, but come on folks the car seat isn't comfortable? Does no one test drive a car anymore? I'm 6'6" and 215 lbs. so the size and comfort of a car is paramount to me. It strikes me as a HUGE suprise that someone would buy a car and realize that after driving a few miles they realize the car seat is too short, or doesn't adjust to the right position etc. Remember, NO COOLING OFF PERIOD is all over the paperwork everyone signs. Just my two cents folks. Again, no offense, but the truth is the truth.

In my case it was not apparent that the seat was uncomfortable until a week or two when I started getting lower back pains from the improper measurements of the lumbar support and the hard seat surfaces.
