Hey guys, I found a solution to this exact problem. Turns out that all Lexus cars and trucks experience intermittent problems with their HID headlights. For me my passenger headlight went out after the car warmed up. It would always turn back on, if I toggled the headlight switch from auto to off, and back to auto or just on.

I made a DIY Tutorial on how to fix the problem B) by simply swapping out the D4S HID headlight bulbs. It sounds easy, but Lexus didn't make it too easy. That's why I recorded a video of the entire process on my YouTube channel.

Hey guys, I fixed this problem and recorded the entire process. You basically have to change out your HID Ds4 bulbs and not the ballast. This happened to me twice already, and both times I just installed new HID bulbs on my 2006 Lexus GS300 and the problem went away.

I recorded a video because I already made a whole collection on my car for routine maintenance items like brakes, resetting the maintenance required light, changing to a k&n air filter & installing an amp and subwoofer to the stock Lexus radio to name a few.

How to Repair Lexus Intermittent HID Headlight Problems

I had the same exact problem and decided to change out the HID DS4 bulb, turns out that's all you have to do to fix the problem. I actually documented the entire process because changing the HID bulbs on a Lexus is not the easiest thing in the world.

Both have similarities, I'm sure that by watching both you can figure out your particular Oil Light Reset for your Lexus. I've personally used the GS Oil Reset Video at least twice from my iPhone after an oil change, or getting my car back from the dealer.

I personally played the Youtube video from my iPhone while sitting in my car after I realized that the dealer forgot to do this for me after they just completed the engine misfire CSP (recall) on my 2006 GS300.

2006 GS with 61,000 miles, all maintenance done by dealer, recently out of warranty, just had "oil consumption" study done. Was told by Lexus that burning 1 quart of oil / 2,000 miles traveled is within the "normal factory Lexus limit standards". This just doesn't sound right. If Lexus says you don't have to have an oil change but every 5,000 miles....the car will be down 2.5 qts by then. How can that be normal? Or, is it? (there is no oil leaking and no visible smoke being emitted.)

Could it be the pistons?

I just had my piston rings and valve seals done as apart of the Lexus GS and IS Engine Misfire Customer Support Program. It's not even considered an official recall

You will also see how the entire engine comes apart on the 2006 Lexus GS 300. Mine is an AWD model so there maybe some different parts on mine as far as the drivetrain goes.

Just open the glove compartment and bend (it is flexible plastic) the 2 sides inward while pulling down. This will pull the compartment down, and if you look straight inside you will see the white air filter. Just pull it straight out and replace or vacuum it.

This instruction is also in the Vehicle Manual.

Hi all. Since Lexus is advising that I change the cabin filter in my '03 ES every 5,000 miles, I decided I'm going to try and do this myself. The guy at Lexus told me to spray Lysol in there when I take the old one out, but he didn't explain exactly where it is and how to do it. I think it's near the glove box? If someone could provide me with some basic instructions, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanx.:)

I am getting a maintenance message that the battery in my smart key is getting low and I want to replace it. I cannot figure out how to get the smart key open to get to the battery. I see a seam along the side but no screws holding it together and no apparent place to pry it apart. Can anyone provide instructions? I tried searching this website and google without success. Thanks-

How do you open up the 1999 ES 300 keyless remote to change the battery? Its becoming increasingly difficult for me to unlock my car nowadays using the remote.

Also, after you change the battery, do you need to reprogram it to work with the car? If you do, how do you do that?

This is for a little bit newer Lexus but I think it should work as long as the Key Fobs are fairly similar.

How do i replace battery in my 2006 IS 250 remote?. I see "weak remote battery" message on my dashboard. I hate to drive all the way to the dealer if it,s something simple that can be done in few minutes.

Does anyone know how to change the battery in the remote for the 2006 GS 300? My brilliant service manager told me to use a Phillips screwdriver to get at the battery, and go to Radioshack for a replacement, but there is NO screw. I am afraid to pry it apart. The dealership is now closed, and of course will be busy Monday. Help!

Recently, I got an oil change performed on my 2006 GS300 and I did not use the Lexus dealer. I now need to reset the "oil maintenance required" message that displays on the dashboard. Does anyone have the instructions to do that?

I have a 2006 GS300 RWD, and it's time for an oil change. I've always changed my own oil, but this car's filter looks very different. I understand it's a canister type of filter, but the replacement filter came with a plastic connector like thing to apparently drain the oil filter before removing it (?)

Does anyone have instructions on doing this? Is there a special tool involved? There is a cap on the filter that looks like it could unscrew, but looks like a special tool is needed to do it...

I followed the instructions and put it onTrip B before I shut off the car so that when I turned on the car it would be at the ODO reading . Kept my finger on the ODO button and started the car by pressing the ignitiion button twice to get it to on and the light did not go off.

Tell me what I am doing wrong please.
