  1. I have a 93 es300 and it is begging for new front struts. I only have marginal confidence in doing this myself. How do I know if I need to replace the mounts? Do I really need a spring compressor? Special tools? How much muscle do I need? This car is starting to nickel and dime me and I don't want to pay 4 to $500 for repairs. Any online manuals would be great. I'm a step by step, picture to picture kind of guy. If I do dive into this, what struts should I buy? CASH FOR LEXUS, NOT CASH FOR CLUNKERS!

  2. I have a 1995 ES300 as well and the spindle light on the speedometer and RPM clusters are out.

I have a 95 ES300 that HAD bad lights. I found a guy in RI on eBay that repairs the instrument cluster needles, and will replace the backlight bulbs with bright white LEDs. The dealer fed me a line of crap saying it would cost over $1200 to fix due to a circuit board failure. This guy replaced everything with new technology similar to that of the Cadillac DTS, you have a choice of 6 colors and all for the price of $114 plus shipping and handling. I tell you the cluster looks better now than it did brand new. I can get anyone the information if they are interested, this guy is a miracle worker.

Hello, I'd be very interested in getting the guys name that fixed your instrument cluster. Mine needs it real bad. Thanks toxicturtles@yahoo.com

  3. I have a 93 es300 with 217,000 on it. The timing chain was replaced 70,000 miles ago.

Should I start worrying? Will there be any warning or will it damage the engine when it does fail?

Also, do I really need to have the water pump replaced too?

  4. 93 es300 lexus with 200,000 failed the CO part of the test (twice). all others well within limits.

midas tested it the second time also after they did a diag. and fuel system clean ($217). had higher CO after the so called fuel system clean. don't know if they cleaned the throttle body or not. they said that they would. Said F*CK midas and went somewhere nearby(independent).

They did a diag. but didn't retest it first. said they are 90% sure i have 3 clogged injectors. i

always used injector cleaner every 3000 or when i went on a trip. said i was looking at least

at a $800 repair. i'm from connecticut and they have been having so many emissions issues.

they switched to all independent testing. i never had a problem before this. that 10% of doubt is

going to *BLEEP* me off because midas said i shouldn't have a problem on the second test. should

i just have another retest somewhere else and pay the $20 and hope i pass? any help would be great!

  5. I had the same problem with my 93 es. The light would come on and after awhile it would go back out. Didn't do it at all in the winter. The car didn't run any differently.

I knew some of these sensors can be costly. I just got lazy. Finally decided to bite the bullet. The sensor it turned out to be was the one in the front top part of the engine. Very easy to replace. Takes about 5 min. If you take it to get service they probably would not charge you for labor because the 02 sensor cost between 150 to 200 dollars. Replace it yourself. You can always return it. But I'll bet you a dozen donuts that that is what the problem is. GOOD LUCK

  6. Hello all,

    I have a 93 es300 with about 185000 on it. Recenting I was on a trip

cruising at about 70 when something just didn't feel right. I got off the

next exit and stopped at a service station. While I was sitting there

the engine was running rough at idle. As I increased the rpms the engine

ran more roughly. It almost seems like its misfiring. I had 2 more hours

to get back home so I decided to chance it. It never got worse. I got about 30 miles

from my house and it smoothed right out. At first I hoped it was just bad gas, but

it wasn't. Its been doing it off and on ever since. As a matter of fact it started doing

it again today when I went to the store. Funny thing is I shut it off and started it again

and it ran smoothly. Any help would be great.

  7. Hey Steph, I have a 93 es300 and the other day I was having trouble with the

heater. It kept shutting off and coming back on. Couple of days later it just died all together.

I finally found that it was a bad fuse. I replaced it and it worked fine. Now the center light

on my display is out. My guess is it could not handle the shock. You may have a bulb out.

It would be great if it was just a loose wire though. How hard is it to take that unit out?

I read its tricky to get the vent out so you can loosen the two top nuts.I'm going to wait until the weather gets better before i tackle this. Let me know how you make out. later
