  1. Is there a place better than another to buy replacement headlamp bulbs. I have one light that comes on but goes out after 30 seconds or so. I have been told that you should replace both right and left bulbs to avoid one light appearing different than the other. If that is the case I am looking for a place to buy a pair of bulbs hopefully at a reduced cost. AutoZone wants $130 a piece or $260 for both plus tax.

  2. It sounds like a good price for that year unless there is an issue with the mileage. It could have been a mistake when the service was documented but who knows. If the car has been taken care of and serviced and you continue to do the same you can expect to get 250 - 300k miles out of it. When that car sold new the sticker probably upwards around $60k. You should consider that if you don't keep the car the carfax issue will cost you on the re-sale price when you get ready to sell.

  3. My wife just returned home with the car and said the brake pad indicator light went out a few minutes after it came on. I suspect that it will come back in a day or two after more braking and stopping.

If you wait you will have to replace the sensor as it will wear though the wire in the sensor.

I don't want to do that. Where is the sensor wire located at on the brakes?

  4. The brake wear instrument panel light came on today on my 97 LS400. Does anyone know how long I have to replace the pads. I don't want to wait but I might have to wait a couple of days till this weekend if possible. Also is there a rule of thumb in the appearance of the rotors to warrant replacing them too?

  5. Unfortunately I can't supply the details on the power steering screen but I had an instructor at AT&T that had that problem on his 97. He found a retired Lexus mechanic that repaired it and he said it was the first problem like that he had seen. I have the email address for the car owner that had the problem. If you send me your email address I will send it to him. He is a really nice guy and shouldn't have a problem explaining what he did to his for the repair.

  6. hey everyone I am the proud new owner of a 97 Lexus LS400 with only 31,700 miles on it. Bought it from an old lady that had kept it in a garage for the past 5 years without driving it. I was wondering what are some nice add ons or accessories that are available and what size are these darn license plate bolts that this car needs? Please let me know asap!!!!

  8. The problem with Lexus is that you have to re install the bottom engine cover before taking it off the ramps. My son did the same thing on his Dodge P/U by !Removed! the new filter onto the old gasket that didn't come free. Best advice is to take your time and look under the car for leaks when you are done. I don't trust anyone else to change my oil. One of those things that I grew up doing myself.
