  1. just get rig of the EGR system all together. it will not hurt in fact better gas millage and HP, it it is only there for emissions. there are eliminator kist aviable for it. depending on what year model u drive will determine if u will be able to pass emissions.

    go to Clublexus.com and do the search or ask your question there there are not many people on the lexus owners site. club lexus is much more active.

  2. i know that this transmission came in a lot or older model supras 82-85 would the bellhousing match up with the 1992 sc300

    if not what model toyota/ lexus models did this transmission come in that hase the right bell housing for the 2jz.

    also i am assuming that the w58 is the manual that came in the sc300

  3. It should put out a code 41 if the tps sensor is going bad. No precautions, but you should re-calibrate the tps sensor. Go to: www.lexls.com you'll find how to re-tune it there under the engine tutorial section I believe.

    Even if you don't have a code it may be starting to fail. Especially if its the original sensor from a 92 model.

    negative could not find anything about adjusting it. on lexls that hole site is based off the 400

    i went ahead and replaced it and right now it seems fine still doing some minor tweeks.

    the hole gas milage thing is not a factor i cant go by right now due to the face that i dont have O/D and right now im getting about 14 to 15 mpg.

    the jacked up thing is that on the way to the parts store to get the tps i hit a pot hole and lost 4th gear seems like for good this time. in previous posts i have had issues with this.

    next im going back to atl. for 10 days on leave and i know some one with the hole 5 speed swap.

    but that drive is gonna be fun 65mph at 4000 rpm is no fun

    what is the difference between the a340e and the a30-40le trans

    i beleve these trans also came in a volvo and the trans dipstick is on the wrong side can i just swap pans

    i have no O/D in my sc and its killing my wallet. and its about to kill me

    about to make a 800mi trip in a month to atl and 65mph at 4000 rpm aint going to cut it.

    also dose any body know where the trans temp sensor is

  5. no im not getting any lights ie.codes when this happens.

    yea i went to advanced today and they have one for like 110 so that aint bad

    i just bought a voltmeter the next time it happens im going to see if the tps is putting out a signal if not then i know its bad. when its working properly it puts out .60v at closed throttle and 3.80v at wide open throttle.

    are there any precautions i need to take when swaping it out if i decide to. need to know if any adjustments need to be made. and if so how

  6. ok sometimes when i am driving around i lose att throttle responce and the car starts to slow down.

    during this time i can feel it trying to come back as i play with the gas and then eventualy it will come back and work again. dose not seem to happen more than once a trip. and most of the time it semes to happen when i first start and get on my way, but earlier it was fine then as i was pulling into the parking lot it happoned again.

    so any thoughts on this. i just replaced the spark plugs and wires and the distributer cap and rotor. in hopes it would help but no dice.

    im thinking the tps might be going bad or the coil could be going bad

  7. ok i have recently purchased a 1992 lexus sc300 and i recently replaced the #1 and #2 solenoids due to no 1st or second gear in d range. also before doing the repair i noticed that 4th (O/D) was not always going into gear it would just stay in 3rd. under hard aceleration it would try to shift into 4th but then just kicking right back out again.

    now after replacing the soleniods i have 1st 2nd and 3rd add in d range. but still having problems with 4th. recently i have noticed that when the weather is cool out it will shift fine. even a a good half hour drive 4th will work fine.

    the fluid is kinda burnt but i am afraid that i will clog my new solenoids with old debre because it has about 218,000 miles on it and i dont know the last time the tranny fluid was flushed

    please help

  8. I don't like doing diagnostic work over the boards. To many varibles to account for. So, heres some ideas.

    You might be down on hp output. Maybe the issue is in the motor and your only seeing a symptom of the problem. the car is 15 years old. So, what condition is the motor in? Have you had it recently serviced? Ever have a compression check? How is your gas mileage? Have you noticed a slower acceleration or inability to get up to speed quickly?

    Are there any cells being thrown up? Most of the driveline sensors are monitored.

    Have you checked the fluid level in the tranny? Make sure it's full, but not over full.

    Also, how are your engine mounts? If they are bad, over time the motor will start to " rotate" and damage the tranny tines not allowing it to shift properly.

    The speed bands in the tranny might be too far out and need to be adjusted. ( $$$) But I usually see this problem in the lower gears not the top.

    yes the motor is in great condition.when i had 4th i got 25mph on the highway. and it pulls hard through all gears.

    if any servicing get done it will be done by me. not in any need for service right now. no codes right now. so this is the hardest problem that i have come by. and right about now i am not about to take it to a professional so he can charge me !Removed! ton of money to tell me he cant figure it out and that he thinks i should replace it.

    but ne way past couple of days i have noticed when it is cold it will some time shift into 4th but as soon as it gets hot will immediately kick back to 3rd. and also hard acceloration in 3rd up to about 80mph its tries to kick down but will just kick back to third.

  9. transmission is acting up on my 1992 sc300

    just recently i lost 4th gear the tranny just wont shift into 4th (O/D)

    some time it will shift into 4th but a few seconds later it will kick back into 3rd

    im thinking sensor going bad but i dont know which one

    and i dont know what the two sensors on the tail end of the tranny are called. so i cant get diag procedures for them.
