  1. Enjoy!! It is nice to have it for sure.

Got it installed today! Works great, just takes some getting used to. Got it installed in the center console and the install looks so clean it's like it was meant to be there. Work with my iphone too! Supposedly you're supposed to be able to play pandora radio, but I haven't figured out that hack yet. Thanks everyone for the input!

  2. Hi, I'm new here, so please forgive me if I'm asking this in the wrong way/place/etc.

I need to get my 35k service, which includes an oil change, new oil filter, and tire rotation. The last time I was there (30k), they mentioned something about an alignment/tire balance. I was thinking of taking it to a regular shop instead of the dealership. First of all, would you guys recommend for or against that, and secondly, what would I be well-advised to buy and bring with me to ensure I've got the right stuff in my car. Also, would it be worth asking about the alignment? Money's sort of tight, but I don't want to destroy my car because I wanted to pinch pennies.

    Thanks for the help! :D

I'm wondering if this is scripted because this is almost verbatim of what they told me. It was also at the 35k service.

  3. The DVD is in a separate (single) drive for the NAV. You have a CD changer.

That is correct, but I might add, the only Lexus sound system that includes the DVD feature in the changer is the Mark Levinson system. From my understanding....the only way you can get the Mark Levinson system is in the Ultra Luxury ES350's.

I was wondering that. I was confused about the question because I'm able to watch DVD's on my Nav....In park, that is ;=]

  4. Dual exhaust on a ES350  Nice, Looking better all the time B)

    Don't the 07 - 09's have dual exhaust?

And I like the chrome at the bottom of the doors......add's a bit of 'Bling'

My 2007 ULE is dual exhaust.

The chrome at the bottom of the doors seems to be a new theme. Our new 2010 RX350 has that same chrome at the bottom.

  5. I haven't seen one at the dealer for a long time...I'd believe that.

I wouldn't buy the car without the UL package personally...

I agree. That glass roof just makes it look like a completely different car on the outside. And on the inside, with all the features it's all worth it.

  6. OK, so you are jealous. Are you interested enough in getting your iPhone contacts list into your ES Bluetooth to try the workaround I provided? There are plenty of Bluetooth phones that are extremely compatible with the pre-2010 Lexus Bluetooth system -- surely you or a friend has one, or you can buy a cheap one on FeaBay or at a garage sale.

I did the work around with other phone as well, not just my 8525. I did it with my old Motorola Razr and a Samsung something from Sprint. Same story. One contact at a time. The 8525 turned out to be the fastest. It connected just fine with my ES and I'd go as far as to say that the two are compatible.

I'm still happy with my ES. I am very grateful that Lexus took a long hard look at how counterintuitive the old BlueTooth, Nav, and voice recognition was. They seemed to have fixed many things in the 2010 model.

Anyhow, my contacts are now transfered, and as it goes, it took more time opening and discussing this thread than it did to just transfer the contacts one at a time.

  7. I've seen a number of threads in which people have said to export the contact list from the iPhone/iTunes to a non-Apple Bluetooth phone that is highly compatible with the Lexus system and then to transfer the contact list from the compatible phone. Some have said that they have done it but provided no other details.

Have you any Bluetooth non-Apple phones in your junk drawer? If you do, check the Lexus website to see if they are compatible.

I don't even have an iPhone or Lexus with Bluetooth but this issue keeps catching me eye since I've been sort of a car phone geek for 20 years.

If you are going to try it, I'd suggest finding a Nokia Bluetooth phone since you can connect it to your personal computer (without having to buy a cable) via a cheap USB Bluetooth dongle (< $5 on eBay) and use Nokia PC Suite (downloadable for free from the Nokia website) to import the contact list into the Nokia phone. I paid less than $10 for a USB Bluetooth dongle at a MicroCenter store about a year ago.

I use Nokia PC Suite to maintain the contact list on the phones of elderly relatives. PC Suite can import contact lists in several formats including vcard. One thing to watch for is to match the correct version of Nokia PC Suite to the particular Nokia phone model.

Anybody in the Kansas City Metro have an iPhone, a pre-2010 Lexus with Bluetooth and want me to help try this? I'm game for a little technical challenge.

I've been able to pair my MacBook to my ES, but it only recognizes the ES Bluetooth as a headset. I can transfer via BT with my old AT&T 8525, but it was only 1 contact at a time... Very tedious. I'm so jealous tha the 2010 RX just picked up the entire iPhone address book in 1 fell swoop in a few seconds. I hope the 2010 ES is similar, or an upgrade will be available.

  8. You might also be able to push the contacts directly from your computer over bluetooth; but I'm not sure how one would go about doing that.

I tried that via my MacBook Pro. It pairs with the Lexus, but it only recognizes is as a "headset" so that was a no go. What I did notice was when you try to transfer the contacts with the iphone the Bluetooth actually disables on the phone. I don't know why it does this. You are correct about the 2010 RX. We got ours and it's made the iPhone pretty powerful in the car. iPhone menu does now show up on the nav screen, however. That would be awesomely ridiculous!

  9. I just got the 2010 RX350 and it is fully compatible with the iPhone. All contacts were transfered via bluetooth in one shot. It only took a few seconds. Also, we are able to listen to other things via bluetooth on the iPhone, including the iPod app, Pandora Radio, and Last.FM. It seems it's only the models from 2010 here on out will be compatible. What's different is that the new RX sees the iPhone as "MULTIMEDIA BLUETOOTH" rather than "HEADSET." What we've found to be more useful, however is to connect via USB for 100% iPod playlist integration and connect the phone feature (incoming and outgoing call) via BlueTooth. I want to steal the 2010 RX350 from my wife now since my 2008 ES350 seems so primitive now. Perhaps the next Nav update will cure all compatibility issues.

  10. Has anyone found a way to transfer contacts to the ES350 Nav phone book on the iPhone? I just got the 2010 RX350 and it took my phonebook in a few seconds via bluetooth. I was wondering if anyone found a way to do it in the ES, or any other Lexus model besides the new RX. It makes me want to steal the RX from my wife.

  11. Have you considered a clear bra? Much more attractive.

Does Lexus sell one for the '07?

Got one on mine - can't even tell it's there from 4 feet away and beyond. It even includes a coating on the side mirrors and the entire front facade (not including the black front spoiler. They didnt do the front pillar though and guess what, it got chipped. I also do a lot of highway driving. Mine was $450 - it was a dealer installed sub-let option. It was included in my price.

  12. That's the way the ES350 and other recent Lexus models were designed. In fact this feature was patented.

    Read this> http://www.freepatentsonline.com/5115896.html

Wierd that you know this. I noticed this myself and told the dealership. I thought it was the flare. The dealership told me the same thing. The foreman states that it's Lexus' way of keeping it in the same gear as long as possible so if a sudden acceleration is needed it would contain the most power by staying in the most proper gear. What I've noticed though is that there is actually a delay when you suddenly accelerate. So how can this be good? They convinced me it was better than anything out there so... Anyways, I'm glad I'm not the only one to notice it. It gives is kind of a sporty feel i guess.

  13. I haven't thought to try that, I'll check it out and get back to you. That is exactly what I was talking about, it would just do it on bass thumping songs! The ML sounds system's audio quality, I think, sounds better than my Dad's escalade! I mean bose has more power, but ML has a better range of frequencies and acoustics.

Better range of frequencies at lower volume. ML is awesome with acoustical music. Stuff for bigger bass and pop music, it does distort. It's the ML subwoofer. All of the other speakers are 100% better than anything aftermarket, but the Sub is sub-par. I had the sound analyzed at a local car stero shop and the only thing they added was two 10"subs and an amp for them. The shop said I could get away with 1 sub, but if you can, do. Now, it's unbelieveable, low and high frequencies at high and loow volumes. Note that when I added the new subs the old sub became a mid-range. Kinda funny adding more money to an already expensive system.

'07 UL with everything - maxed out, except for the pre-collision and adaptive

cruise control (from what I was told that had to ordered). I was told by the

dealer they just unloaded it of the truck. The mileage said 12 on it when I test

drove it. He said the last one didn't last on the floor very long. I wasn't even

looking to buy a car that day, but after test driving it I knew it was a great

opportunity. I actually try to look for them in our area. I maybe see one every

3 months or so in the Sac area - and I have never seen another one in this same color.

  15. The bulbs are the same, shape of the projectors and the aim of the lights are the issue.

The driver's headlight is supposed to be aimed lower to avoid blinding oncoming drivers. When they adjust them they're adjusting them within spec.

Do you have documentation of this? Where can I find out that the lights are supposed to be uneven. Even the dealership cannot provide literature that the drivers side is supposed to be aimed lower. Everone just says "It's supposed to be that way, probably because its so oncoming traffic doesn't get blinded." everyone says that, but no one can provide proof. Annoying.

  16. Do you think it's possible to exchange the left bulb with the right bulb? Or is there a left specific bulb and a right specific bulb. At first I thought the Drivers side was aimed lower than the right, but after my 5k service, the dealership stated they fixed it, then after my 10 k service they said they fixed it, but the left is still lower than the right. I did my own experiment and came to the conclusion that the left is actually dimmer than the right. Just wondering if the bulbs were side specific. This is really annoying that the lights can't get corrected. One serviceman told me "You'll have to get used to it." which is a very crappy answer for a $45k car. I like the AFS, but if I have to live with non level lighting, I'd rather go back to driving a Corolla.

  17. Wow! I just bought a 2008 Tahoe with voice command and Nav system. My 2007 ES' system is light years ahead of GM's. More resolution and more intuitive than the Tahoe's, which is what I'd expect. I'm interested to see how the new Ford Focus' voice command sys is going to perform. It was developed by Microsoft. I still don't think I'd buy a focus because of it, but all of these advancements make the market better. By the way, on the GM nav, it also greys out the buttons while the vehicle is in motion, and you also have to hit the OK button everytime the car starts so I think this is the trend for the future. The closest Nav I've seen that compares (besides aftermarket) is Acura's. My friend's TL is pretty smooth, but the Lex' still has higher resolution.

  18. I just leased an 07 ES 350 Ultra Luxury with Mark Levinson, XM radio, and PArking Assist. The sticker was a shade over $45,000. The lease was based on a "purchase price" of $40,600, which was about $800 over invoice. Best deal I could do considering the Ultra Luxury cars are very hard to find.

Funny you should mention those figures. My Ultra luxury edition was stickered at $45,097, but I dealed him down to about $40,600. They did finance me at 6.7%, but I got a better rate at another bank and paid off the dealerships loan in a couple of weeks. I was very pleased witht the price I received, but I couldn't for the life of me find an ES350 witht the pre-collision system which I really wanted. I wanted the Radar cruise control, but no one seemed to have it. It's in a lot of LS's but not in the ES's
