  1. First, there is nothing wrong with the car itself (however, you may need tires). How much experience do you have driving a rwd car in the snow? I have only owned rwd cars, so based on my experience, including in the gs, my best advice is to turn off the VSC (you could turn it back on once moving), turn on SNOW button, and last but most important, add some weight over in the trunk (i.e. rear wheels). I use a 50 lbs bag of dog food (or two) and it makes a huge difference.

    FWIW, I think the GS does good in the snow for a rwd car. I only have 30% tread left on my Pilots too, and it does fine.

  2. I don't know enough about the v8 used in the 400, but you really don't want to run n20 unless you have forged internals. What is the compression on the v8? What hp shot are you planning on running? Put it on the dyno and verify your a/f to be sure you aren't too lean anywhere. Remember, n20 is hard on an engine's internals and if you plan on hitting it often with a good size shot, plan on a motor rebuild.

    Remember too, you have a luxury sports sedan, not a sports car.

  3. HHhhmmmm. To each thier own , and its your car do what makes you happy. But if the Lex is your only vehicle, you should buy something else for backup. You'd be attempting to take a luxury sedan and squeeze "sports car" performance out of it. Remember, the Lex wasn't made for that and things will brake, and that gets very costly (say goodbye to your warranty with a power adder). In addition, in the end you may not get the performance out of the Lex that you wanted. I'm not against making a gs faster. Exhaust, intake, ecu stuff is fun. But a s/c sounds like your looking for more serious performance, that, imo can't be had in a lexus. There are plenty of luxury vehicles and sports cars in stock form that are much faster/better handling than a s/c lexus that in the end cost you near the same $$. The important question is what do you want out of your car. The next question is can your car give it to you.

    I love my gs too, but I love it for what it is... a luxury sedan. Good luck with your decisions. Make sure you have a goal and well thought-out modification plan.

  4. WOW! Serious numbers for a v6. What does the package come with for engine internals? Pistons, springs, etc, etc. I imagine you'll need to beef up the rear end and tranny, otherwise you'll fry them. How much tq will it be putting down?

    As far as the race with a z06, I'll still have to take the vette, sorry. (I also own a vette). The z06 (like my lt4) pulls hard up top. From a stop it would be a good race to about 70, then he'd walk you. From a roll the vette would walk you also. (Remember the Lexus weighs more).

    But no doubt you'll have one fast gs. 8)

  5. Ok, I'm new to the Lexus world, but not to the mod world (I own a 350+ hp Corvette). I've seen some intake mod advertisers claim a 22 hp gain on a gs300, but it comes at a hefty price tag of ~$500 plus. This price seems awful high considering the amount of material and simple design of these replacement air intakes compared to the claimed gains.

    So, my question is: what have you guys (gals) used for intake mods and what kind of gains did you see? In addition, (just curious) about how much did it cost you? I would install it myself, so labor is not a concern. Also, did you have to reprogram the computer for the additional air flow?

  6. Hello everyone, this is my first post! My better half and I are new Lexus owners. I actively participate on another forum (corvetteforum) and hope this forum is just as informative and interesting.

    Now for the question. What type of transmission fluid do I need for our 99 GS 300? Where to buy, and how many quarts? Thanks in advance!
