  1. I live in a major southern city right downtown. twice this week someone (more like SOMETHING) has thrown liquids at cars, in a camera assist parking lot. I need to know what is the best alarm system for my 470. I don't want to shop around! I will follow the advice of my club members. has anyone hear of small cameras that radioshack sells that feed right into your lap top.

i know the best system would be to garage but thats impossable at this time

    Thanks

PS. what i'm saying is there a mpotion systen for the 470 or an upgrade to the current systen

  2. I have had a bad experience with my 90000 mile service and just wanted to share it. I went to the dealer for my service and was told the same thing that everyone has read about on this forum. But besides the normal 2,000 dollar service or so, they told me that I would need four new tires, I needed new breaks, since my were cut before, and at the same time they would reccommend changing the water pump (I think this is what they said.) I never had a problem with the dealer, and I do trust them. This service ended up costing me 4,000 all together. I take care of my car and I agreed to have everything needed done. I had to leave my car.

My first problem, when I picked up my car, both my fenders were so scuffed up from being worked on, when I brought it to the managers attention, they tried to poish it out and could not. They eventually had to wet sand the car. There were grease stains on my ivory leather seats, that eventually came out.

It gets even better. One of the reasons I had the service also done, was that I had a road trip planned for New Jersey to South Dakota with family members. A few days after the service, we left for our road trip. About midway, my serpentine belt got frayed some how and my power steering fluid kept leaking out. Everytime I had to stop for gas, I had to refill the power steering fluid. I finally made it to a Lexus dealer in Omaha Nebraska, they told me about the serpentine belt and that the power steering pump had to be changed. Not only did this put a damper on our trip and my mood, it cost me another 1,200. The entire way I was calling my dealer furious. On the road they agreed they would reimburse me the 1,200 dollars and then give me a 500 credit service. I accepted this. They did give me the service credit, but only sent me a 500 dollar check in the mail. On my next visit I will ask them about this.

Furthermore, my car has not been the same since the service. I can feel it shaking when I am at a stop, I can see the tachometer does not idle nicely as it use to. There is a squeeky sound coming from the engine compartment. It sound like the belt again. It gets worse when the air conditioner is on. I had brought my car there and they kept it for three days, saying they were checking it out. Whe I got home, the squeeking sound is back again. It is embarassing, sometimes it is very loud.

I have been with this dealer for over 10 years. I consider them one the best Lexus dealers on the East coast. It takes me an hour just to drive there, and there are other dealers closer to home. I have always trusted them and hope they can straighten all of this out. I have my 2003 470 for five years now and I just want to keep it and take care of it.

Just wanted to share this experience and see what everyone thinks of it.

I'm so sorry that you have had to go through this experience. I just want to offer my concern for you happiness with your 470. May you sort all this out. I also advise informing CORP. They don't play around at that level.

    Good luck To You

  3. Appreciate the tip. Any others?

I agree with LXpearl correct fluid grades are most important. I just had my 90k done and prior I made sure that I developed a cool repore with the Nissan Service Manager and the Master Tech that did the work. By the way do you have an extended warranty on that water pump that could be of assistance to you ($$$) if it is bad and covered. Don't forget recalls on certain areas that you might not be aware of. Way to check the muster of the dealer see if they give you a clean up on the 470 when they a finished

    Take care & Good Luck

  4. Hello Everyone

I'm over 6ft tall and was wondering what would be the correct seat adjustment for maxium comfort behind the wheel. I've made numerious changes and just can't seem to get it right. I know each to their own taste but I was wondering what if any has been truly good for people with my height. I'm sure a few Basketball players drive the 470. As usual any reply is appreciated

    Thanks

  5. So folk I'm disabled and really enjoy washing and waxing my 470. The only problem is getting to the roof. Ladders just don't get you close enough without you almost scratching the paint. So I'm thinking about having the top covered in a material that would resist the weather. This would only be the area right under the luggage rack (I can reach the area foward of the sunroof) any ideas or advice

    Thanks

  6. I just picked up my Baby from the local Nissan Dealer who performed the 90,000 mile service. They did everything the owners manual called for and then some. (Antenna would not rise to full staff they fixed it)

Timing Belt, Drive Belt, Pack wheel Bearings, Brake fluid, all filters (including cabin) coolent drain and fill, lof,r/b, throttle body cleaned, rotate and balanced tires, oil change and on and on! The water pump was checked and itn was in great shape (I have an extended warrenty that covers this to 150,000) the price was really great also

    Lexus dealer $1,700-2,000

    My final cost $1,220.59

I knew just how to handle the service people from reading the advice on these pages

Hope others have good fortune also when the speedo shows 90,000 :rolleyes:

  7. I just spent the last few days reading Mr. Chow's advice on the Keep of the 470. I must tell you I really love mine (2002). You have really given me some serious insight as to what to expect from dealers and from the vehicle itself later on down the road. With the information you have provided I'm more surefooted when talking to Techs and the like. Keep informing us . Thanks very Much!!
