  1. warranty plan? i really don;t what that is. i bought a 2010 RX350 last year and the dealer give me 6 year extended warranty for $1500. now last month, i went to lexus dealer for 20000 miles service. they told me i should pay almost $400 for that. i wonder what the warraty for. the customer service told me the warranty covers only breakdown. now my question is, is a almost new lexus that easy break down in first few years of buying? do we need to pay for that? if it;s easy to breakdown, what they say about the quality etc....

  2. Mine is 92 Ls 400 about 170m miles. need to push hard on gas pedal to run up... feel heavy... also, when I hit 65+ m/h on fwy, the shift handle/knob starts shaking back and forth... what is that? transmission? engine mount or anything? and i can also hear engine noises like heavy breath....

  3. I have a 92 LS400. i can feel the shaking even when hit a tiny bump or waved road. May be anti-shock problem? how to tell if mine is Air-suspension or not? or the whole generation 1 had no air suspension shock?

  4. You could be out of freeon or the compressor may be locked up. If it is locked up the AC light will be flashing. Most commonm is simply out of freeon easy to fix unless the compressor is leaking. Then you will still need a new one.

    thx, lucky13, that's also what i thought. but how come good last year and bad this year since i never used cold air? btw, i think i still need R12 instead of R134. R12 is illegal in california now as i learned. anybody got suggestions? thx

    I dont know but mine did the exact same thing. Had not used it but when it got hot and I tried to use it it simply would not blow hot. I got a new compressor on ebay for $270. A friend mechanic charged me $100 to put it in. You probably will not get as lucky on the price unless you do it yourself but there are quite a few compressors for sale on ebay by various auto stores for hundreds less that OEM from a lexus dealership.

    I noticed yesterday that when i pressed Circulation, air blows kinda HOT, but when pressed the outside air, it feels a little bit cool. geeeez...i changed an airfilter. i believed it's something electronic messup.

  5. My 92 LS400 needs spark plugs replaced but where are they? And does anyone hav a suggestion for a good type of plug, i was told NGK are good plugs for it. Any help would b great

    the plugs are under the plastic cover of the engine. you have to remove the covers first. Cables underneath kinda complicated, don;t mess up. generally, change the plugs also change the cables

  6. So... is this the Coolant Temperature Sensor on the engine..

    or the sensor in the expansion tank?

    or is coolant leaking out of the cap??

    You could use a little more detail in your question..

    the leaking part is on the top of the plastic water tank, a black rubber lid on it. when i opened the lid, i can see a round plastic with tooth. is it the temp sensor? seeping around the plastic...

  8. 1992 LS 400 A/C pretty cold last year. but this year just hot or outside air. no cold air at all even temp set at 65F。check finds code changes from 20, 21, 22...up to 29 and different air blows when these didgits dispaly. still use R12 refregent. don;t know where the air compressor, temp sensor located. would any of you post photos of those possile-failed parts so that i can check it up? thx.

  9. it's 1992 LS 400 with 160k. several days ago, i found when i start up the engine, the sounds is kind hollow like sonthing loose, sound not that solid (hrad to describe) but when the engine runs, everything sounds ok like normal. this happenes only at the stratup for seconds when i turn the ignition key. any suggetstion, guys? thx

  10. I have the same code also and not fixed yet. if i ran lower than 50mph, cel doesn'e come on, if upper 65-70mph,cel comes on soon. every time i just cleaned the cel by pulling out the fuse. cel light coms on agin when i hit 65 upper mph. plz keep informed.

    Hello all,

    I'm having the error code 71.I checked the EGR valve by connecting the vacuum hose on top of EGR valve.Engine does hesitation which means my EGR valve is working fine.?

    Please help me to solve this problem. Also where is EGR gas Temp sensor is located in 1992 LS400?

  11. Gosh! i goona only around 10 mpg... what's the problem.... by the way, did u fill up the tank to full or just half of it? any difference for mpg?

    I have a 91 LS 400. Get around 17 in the city and 22 on the highway.

    I check tire presure and keep it good.

    Change oil every 3,000 miles

    Tune up as needed (put new plugs, wires, coils etc.. on about 15,000 miles ago when I did TB).

    Run 91 Octain ( get less power and mpg with low Octain)

    Keep overdrive on and power setting to Economy.

    Pull and clean airfilter one a month or after a long drive of 800 to 1,000 miles

    Try to not lead foot it.

    Anyone know of other ways to get better MPG out of a 91 LS???

    Have any of you added any after market parts and gotten better MPG?

  12. Drove the LS tonight and was getting a terrible moan and screech from the steering. I believe my sisters friend who is a mechanic looked at it before and filled it up with fluid but its still noisy and bothersome. Doesnt seem to affect steering 'ease' if you will but it just makes a whole bunch of noise.

    We looking at a new pump?

    Search for the thread here and DIY, will save you a lot. two hours work, done. just change the pump not the reservior.

  13. My 91 LS400 is starting to die on me. Whenever I am driving, it drives just fine until I stop and then its starts surging and after 10 secs it dies on me. If I leave it in park, the engine light comes on and surges but does not die. I cannot figure out what it can be. I replaced the spark plugs & wires, fuel injectors, ecm, tps sensor, and crankshaft sensor. My suspicion is the o2 sensors. What do you think it could be?

    Edit: I just had it smogged two weeks ago, could this be a symptom from being smogged?

    I had this problems several time and last friday on my way home after work, it started to die again. Engine speed up and downm, i had to put one foot on brake when stop adn another foot on feul. when i parked in a parking lot and check it out, nothing wrong. On the second half of my way home, it ran ok and i even hit the fwy. no symptoms at all.

    i posted the problems here and i was tol dit was air intake or the similar problems, i didn;t fix it yet cuz it ok now again. Don't know when it happens again next time.

    I will post it if i fix it. btw, mine is 1992 ls 400 with 165k on it.
