That being said, I would first check to make sure the connector is properly attached. It appears that this connector is often detached when power steering and/or engine work is done, and it sometimes does not get reattached. This causes the fan to run at the same speed all the time, regardless of the engine coolant temperature. This causes no problem as long as the car is moving at speed or when the weather is not too hot. But it can really cause a problem on hot days.

...and you were absolutely right!! After checking all relays and sensors i finally reach behind the engine and bingo! found sensor connected to...nothing. somebody left the plug just hanging there :D :D I took the car now for an extremely slow ride with an A/C blowing at full sped and the gauge stayed nicely right below the 1/2. Looks like my problem is solved. Saved 550 $ by not taking an advice from PEP guys...

Now if anybody have a problem with hydraulic cooling fan system I'm almost an expert ;)

    Hi

I seem to have the same issue, engine overheating. And i did the power steering fluid job with PebBoys recently!

Can you please let me know where i can get this manual online, so that i can give a try.

    Thanks

  2. I asked this question under another topic, but no answers about the mechanic.

I have a 95 es300 which i bought a year back. It is doing 85k miles now and in a very good condition. I have not yet given to a service, unless for changing oil and coolant. So i plan to give it to service now. I have few small problems as follows:

    (1) oil leak: little oil leakage is there and the toyota dealers said the rack and pinion and some other oil filter has to be replaced and it will cost $2000. if it is really the problem, i want to service it and am not sure how much it would really cost.

    (2) I get a "hiss"ing sound, when i try to turn the steering more than 180 degree around. This happens when the engine is started from cold and once or twice after that.

    (3) I get air noise when i drive in the freeway, above 50 miles speed. From this forum, i think it is probably due to weatherstripping.

Can anybody help me find out how much all these and the routine service cost and is there any good mechanic in the bay area, california ( sunnyvale, santa clara, mountainview, milpitas ) area who charges nominal fee for this?

    Thanks

Also i get a mileage of around 17-18 (mixed city + freeway), is it ok? Is there anything i can do to better it? I always use premium gasoline.

    Thanks
