  1. My '04 ES also has a bunch stone chips that are unsightly. I'm dropping it off tomorrow to get the hood repainted. The collision shop is one I've used on several occasions, they do great work. They quoted me $411.13.

Isn't the hood on the RX smaller? Does that quote also include your front bumper?

I'm also getting my front bumper replaced because some idiot backed into it with their trailer hitch. It's covered by my insurance though. The quote for a new front bumper, the styrofoam absorber behind it, paint and labor is $654.67.

If that quote was only for your bumper and hood, I would go elsewhere.

  2. To clarify,

By "at least on the level," I mean I'd rather not drive a car two years older than the one I already have. I'd be fine with a new Lexus anything (and granted, I'll only have it a few days), I'd just rather not drive an '89 ES 250 with 130k miles on it ;)

I mean, I imagine that they give you the newest models they practicably can in an effort to get you to upgrade... but I don't know. I've only owned my Lexus for 4 months.

Every time I go to the dealership for service I get an RX that's no more than 2 years old. But like RX330driver said, it varies by dealer.

  3. Why not do what every other Toyota/Lexus owner does and bypass the wiring behind it permentaly. This also allows you to input destination and use your phone while driving.

5 wires and about 40 minutes to simple driving away.

This solution doesn't automatically press the "I Agree" at the beginning. But if that's not important to someone, it would be a much cheaper and simpler solution.

  4. They finally got around to designing a rear bumper that properly houses the exhaust pipes. Looks GREAT. Living in the snow belt, I can see a definite struggle keeping the lower door chrome lustrous. Hopefully they'll offer that clear guard application for the chrome.

I am a bit hesitant to go after the first years production run though. They seem to change the package offerings in the second year(at least they did on the recent 430 vehicles). I think I may wait for fall 2007 for mine.

    John

I'm waiting for the hybrid version. I wonder if it will have more than 380 HP?

  5. Yes, I know about the HomeLink compatible modules that can turn on a lamp or applicance that plugs into a wall outlet. What I am looking for is HomeLink receiver module that replaces or is compatible with a wall switch so I can turn exterior and interior garage lights on.

I had similar receiver modules (from Sears) in my last house that replaced wall switches and which were compatible with my garage door remote.

It almost looks like the Homelink website is not being maintained. I think the same dead hyperlinks are on it that were there about two years ago.

If X10 modules will work, you can find switch replacements and more here: http://www.smarthome.com/prodindex.asp?catid=2

  6. When I was on the Lexus Plant Tour of the Cambridge, Ontario plant, where some of the RX330s are manufactured. We were told that all of the wood trim was real wood and that all of the pieces in each particular vehicle were cut from the same tree so that they would match, etc. Whether this is true or not, I'm not sure. Although I'm inclined to believe that they wouldn't lie.

    SK's got it.

I'm still a firm believer that this trim in the RX330 is all fake though. If you compare that peice to the same peice off another Lexus model its pretty obvious the RX330's console wood is fake.

  7. I'm pretty outraged right now.

I was changing a wheel today and using the stock lug wrench from the trunk on the stock locking nut (front left tire) with my hands and THE *%*^^& LUG NUT BROKE!!! Two shards broke off and now I can get the nut off.

I'm going to Lexus tomorrow to make them remove and replace it. I have 24k miles on the car. This is ridiculous.

I've had this happen to me on 3 of their lug nuts. Although, it never prevented me from putting on / removing a nut. Each time, the dealership replaced them for free. This only happens when we use the lug wrench. I'm considering just replacing all of the locking nuts with the regular ones so I don't run into a problem like yours.
