Just info for everyone - I replaced my pads and rotors with EBC - and what a mistake to get the EBC green pads They squealed all the time - I just replaced them with OEM pads (of course I had to buy the shims as I through my old ones away as the EBCs would not work with them). The EBC rotors are great though and I highly recommend them - they are slotted and xdrilled and look great.

Has anyone installed EBC Rotors and pads on their RX? I have some questions if so
I purchased a set of EBC rotors (GD 7229)and pads(DP6628) for the 2001 Lexus RX-300. The stock pads have shims that are placed between the caliper piston and the pads - as well as the opposite pads have shim that is also used behind the pads.
I found I could not use these shims and still fit the new pads over your new rotor. I tried not using the shims but the sound I heard just driving around the block and coming to a slow stop seem to indicate that this setup may be right. But then too - I did not have a chance to bed the pads in. I took the EBCs off and put the OEMs back on and hope to hear from someone with experience on this install.
Should I be reusing those shims?
TIA

Thanks for the info on the torque - 25ft-lbs - the data I had (from a online repair shop repair manual that I downloaded before I quit the shop I was working at) said it was 79 ft-lbs and I sheared two bolts. Right now they are just tightened by feel. Now that I know the spec I can go put them on correctly.
Also wanted to add - I originally put EBC green pads on and EBC slotted/xdrilled rotors. The rotors are great and look unique but the pads squealed like crazy - backing up or going slow. I just finished putting on OEM pads (and of course I had to repurchase the shims kit for the pads as the EBC pads could not use them).
