  1. Hey guys I replaced the dog bone mount about 8 months ago and need to know how I can tell if I need to replace the other mounts?

Were you having problems after replacing the front motor mount. If so check the air flow assembly from the air filter to the center of engine. If it has any holes or small rips it should be replaced. Look very closely at the rounded section while (moving it!) around. If you notice tears or rips it maybe letting eccess air into you intake affecting you response. If it has to be replaced it is a toyota parts containing the same number as the lexus part, but cost less money. Call around to toyota dealerships to get the best price. One other thing I tied a plastic bag around the ripped section, make sure it doesn't get burned or caught up on anything. Take your car around the block, you should instantly know the deal. car jerking at start offs, slow speeds and in lower gears almost certainly denotes motor mounts.

  2. Hi All

Just a quick Hi, to this great forum, Joined UK & OZ as well, not many members on the UK, or those with es300 or Windoms

plus sometimes info posted on the UK is refered here to you guy's  .

We have a 95 25G ES300 Windom ( Lexus) 2.5 V6 24V in perl white tinted windows, ect ( pics available) most of the parts & spares are on the JapParts sites & US Ebay. We need to check our Vin & Engine numbers plus check which parts are interchangable with the Camry. If you guy's know of a good Es300 or Windom Parts source please let us know.

We dont need parts at present ( Maybe a Cambelt Change soon!) will pop over here forum most days, Thanks in advance

    "Cheers" :cheers:

In the US I use www.car-parts.com they may charge a little more to ship to you, I'm betting you may find what you need there.

  3. I just purchased a 92 ES 300 with over 200k for $1000 and I was wondering how much it would cost to bring this cars engine back to life. Right now it runs but it hesitates on occasion whenever it does if I shut the car off for 30 seconds and then it runs fine again until the next time. At first I thought it was the tranny but there are no shavings in the transmission pan. then I figured it was the plugs but I changed them and it still hesitates so finally I changed the fuel filter and still no change.

If anyone can help me fix this it would be greatly appreciated. I am willing to take it to a shop (even the dealer) if necessary but I want to try to do it on my own first.

I had a 92 a few years ago. Very good car. I changed a motor mount and had a problem with hessitation, I called the dealership and they told me to check the air flow pipe that goes from the air filter to the center of engine. It may have small cracks allowing eccess air flow to the engine, it seemed small but sure enough it had a few. I tied a plastic bag from like a department store around it making sure none was hanging to burn or get caught up and that showed me the problem right there. I called lexus and got the part number and guess what the same part from toyota cost considerably less. I hope this helps and a small note: Cross check any parts (by numbers) that you need from lexus with a good toyota dealership and you can keep cost down considerably.

  4. I am in HOT Houston, TX and my A/C recently started blowing warm air. Brought it to the mechanic hoping that it would be a cheap recharge--but he told me that there is NO vacuum in the system and said that it is my expansion valve. It is stuck open or something...

Now the expansion valve is $61 but he wants $600 labor to replace it (said he has to take the entire dash apart). I looked at FSM but didn't see any details on how to do this myself. Does anyone have any experience? I have a 97 ES300.

Also, the mechanic recommended replacing the drier and compressor because he said the compressor is making noise. So it looks like:

    Compressor: $454

    Expansion Valve: $61

    Drier: $30

    Labor: $600

    -----------

Total = $1145 to get my cold air back!

Any ideas? Can I not replace the compressor and hope the expansion valve fixes the problem? Will a bad compressor cause a bad expansion valve? Any help on changing the expansion valve myself will be greatly appreciated.

Have you taken it to a toyota dealership yet. It would be a second opinion as well as possible cheaper parts and labor!
