  1. Wow, no reason to bite off the guy's head. He's just telling you that they all do that. I have a 2004 GX and I hear the hiss everytime. It's the brake cylinders doing their work.

    Is it noticable? Yes.

    Is it annoying? No.

Do I still love my truck? You bet!

Enjoy the truck, there's nothing wrong. Put the windows down, turn on the radio and enjoy the ride.

  2. My DVD will not turn on now. it is not the remote, I think, as this was checked and it is emmiting a signal but the DVD player will not turn on and since you need the remote to work it, I am without DVD for my kids. What can I do? Does anyone have any ideas? It worked and all fo a sudden doesn't even turn on.

I can wacth the DVD in the front NAV screen while parked and the hand break applied.

    Thanks for any suggestions!!!

    Possible same issue?

  3. My 03 GX's A/C doesn't seem to cool all the time, it blows cold air (not very cold) and then warm (room temp) air on and off, while idling or driving, no matter how fast or slow. I just had TSIB AC003-06 regarding "the A/C not cooling" done at Lexus and the car seems to be exactly the same, it has 61k miles. The only noticebale difference is that when it blows cold air, the air is a bit colder than it used to be, but then it goes back to blowing room temp air on and off.

I was incredibly pleased with Lexus, they covered the TISB (otherwise $2500 or so) and gave me a loaner for 8 days while the parts came in and the job was performed. It is very HOT here in the South, it has been over 100 degrees now for over 11 days straight, when the 100 degree weather started is when I noticed the problem.

Has anyone had this issue? Is this a common and non-fixable issue with these cars? I just bought it about 1.5 months ago and have a terrible clunk and this A/C problem...the clunk kit has been on order for over a month now and is still on backorder, the Lexus dealer said they will pay for that as well though, thank God!!

Lexus has been wonderful but the A/C and the clunk are terrible on my car.

I called Lexus again today about the A/C and they want me to take the car back to them on 8/22 and will provide another loaner, they said it should be blowing cold air (but it doesn't all the time and when it does it isn't really cold).

Any ideas or suggestions on this A/C issue???

    Thanks so much in advance!!

The clunk should be covered under the powertrain warranty which extends out to 70k miles. Other than the TSIB, I'm not sure what else people have done.

If you don't mind, can you click "Contribute Content" on my new site www.FAQLexus.com and add your experience w/ what they've done off your work order? I'd like to get a collection of parts and procedure they've done to "try" and fix various issues. This would be helpful to others for sure!

  4. First of all, happy July 4th!!!

Does your GX vibrate at idle?

Well, sometimes my 2005 GX470 (64K) will idle fine and smooth and then other times it will be a little rough. I can feel it through the steering wheel and the seat. The rough idle comes and goes. I did notice the RPM drops and increases back and forth. There's no pattern except when the engine is cold, the idle is almost always smooth. Does anyone think the Idle Control Valve might cause this? Thanks in advance with your comment......

Here is my response from my dealer regarding this issue. I documented the technician's notes as well: http://www.faqlexus.com/index.php?action=a...light=vibration

  5. hey guys update the rest of us here and mention ANY time the clunk comes up with this new tsb. if it completely solves the problem then i will have mine done also. i hope i hear good updates ASAP cuz my warranty's running out(44k miles) and am in the middle of a decision whether to mortgage this Gx after the lease is up or get a new one. ;)

No worries on the warranty. Lexus is honoring this TSIB as a drivetrain warranty (per the released TSIB to dealers). The drivetrain warranty is 72 months or 70,000 miles. Complete OFFICIAL TSIB from Lexus is here (hosted here due to size of attachment): http://www.faqlexus.com/index.php?action=a...&artlang=en

  6. After trading in my X5 for a LS430 last year, I'm slowly becoming a believer of Lexus quality and reliability. With 82,000 miles on the clock for my beloved 740, it was time to let her go. It was to a point where I had to replace something every month on the car.

The choice was between the Range Rover HSE and the GX. After comparing them side by side and driving them, it was a close call. The Range Rover definitely is more of a driver's vehicle where the Lexus is more of a laid back type of ride. Ultimately, the Lexus had the touchscreen NAV, rear ENT DVD, backup camera, and the cool suspension that you can lower and adjust to your liking. That sealed the deal.

As I drove my new truck off the lot and got on the expressway, I noticed a little light next to the fuel gauge blinking w/ a tire looking symbol w/ an exclamation point inside. I thought it was the tire pressure, but checked out the tire pressure, it was fine. Also, checked the pressure on the spare (as stated on this forum) and it was fine as well.

Also, when I came to a stop and then accelerated, I would hear a little "clunk". Researched this site this weekend and found the TSB relating to this. Also, found out that my driver's side window doesn't have the one-touch functionality. All the other windows do, except my driver's side window...weird.

A problem that I haven't been able to figure out yet is this. When I put a DVD into the rear dvd player, the DVD menu shows on the rear screen, however it has a message saying that if I want to do something w/ the settings either touch the front screen or press a key on the remote. I tried both and can't get the annoying message to disappear. It takes up half of the rear DVD screen, so it's useless to use it. I'm sure it's something simple, but just need a little direction.

I'm very anal about my vehicles and generally anything that's "off" gets my full attention. It looks as though the previous owner decided to ignore some of the problems with this vehicle. Thank goodness for the factory warranty!
