  1. Thanks for the tips guys! My send and receive settings were both at '0'!! I saw somewhere another user said '3' was the Lexus Default for voice send, so I set it as such. For the incoming, I set it to '2'....because the '3' made the person sound too grainy. (Even if I turned down the speaker volume.)

I had the same problem and found these instructions posted on a Lexus IS forum:

"first hold the "info" button (I did it for about 5 secs) then switch your parking light switch from off-to parking lights-repeatedly while still holding the info button....it takes about 5-6 cycles...an poof the NAV screen enter yet another Service menu. From there I navigated to a bluetooth menu where I was able to adjust the Microphone volume higher so that people can hear me better!"

I have a 2006 GX470 and I was able to increase my microphone volume this way. I believe it is called "send voice volume" in the menu. I set it to 3 and people no longer keep saying "I can barely hear you"

Of course, this is a service menu menu so be carefull what you change.

  2. I also have this intermittent problem on a 2006 IS 250. I've got 71900K miles on the clock and the power train warranty expired @ 70K miles. Has anyone on the BB have the repairs done at no charge @70K plus miles?

I found a posting where someone said it was low Oil Pressure. Had the oil changed on Friday, made sure Synthetic was used, drove all weekend, and have not heard it once. Until Friday, I would hear it whenever the car sat for awhile.

  3. Since your from Florida....do you want all seasons or summer tires? What specifically are you looking for in replacement rubber?

I just got 4 new Yokohama Avids which are all season tires for about 500$. Thats a good deal since the cheapst michelins were 1,000. My mechanic says that he wouldnt rate Michelins over these tires. Yokos are OEM on this car. I have nitrogen in the tires and you feel everything....to much for me but if you like the performance, agressive feel you will like them. I had Yokos YK420s all season, which in my terms were not so bumpy like the Avids. But keep in mine I only have 1,500 miles on the new ones. And the first month I could feel the difference day to day as the bounce wore off but i do not think they will get any better...nitrogen may be part of the culprit.

From all the research I did stay away from Bridgestone Potenza and Turanzas. They hydroplane. Michelin Pilots, Primacys (backordered), Energies rated 9/10. Yokos were 7/8. They are great tires for the price...its not like our cars are brand new....but they run like they are

When I had my '96 ES, I tried everything under the sun...and the ONLY tires that worked for me where the Michelins. I've had the Exalto's and the Primacy's...and you can't go wrong with either one. The Exalto's grip the best...but have a 20K mile SHORTER life span. On my '00 ES, I have the Primacy's installed and they are 4lbs heavier, which does make a difference on the gas mileage....but they are smooooooooth as butter...especially at 110mph!

  4. Hello,

    How much HP in a 97 ES300 engine? (1MZFE)

I drove my other 02 camry V6 (1MZFE), and it feels like more power with the same engine.(1MZFE)

I drove the 09 Camry I4, and it also feels like more power.

I maintain my car well. Is something wrong with my Lexus or is it just aging (353K)?

    Please advise.

The '97 ES has a 200HP engine w/214 ft. lbs. of torque. The 02 Camry has only 196HP w/209 ft. lbs. of torque.... They both weigh relatively the same, so your Lex is faster. It's possible because of the upgraded dampeners in the ES compared to the Camry, the ES seems slower. (I.e. You can't really feel the speed.)

Also...what type of gas do you put into the car? Before FedEx murdered my '96 ES, I would only put premium in the tank and I fitted Michelin Primacy's or Exalto's (I fluctuate between the two...) on him. For 188hp....the '96 beat several of the newer Camry's.

  5. Mine would have to be the RX concept... my favorite cars are the ones that never seem to make it into production (well, not in the form they were purposed in).

The RX Concept was pretty cool....but what was put into production is pretty darn close! ;)

Personally I own a Gold 2000 Platinum Edition ES300...and it is 'perty'. However, I covet the 2007/2008 GS350.

I'll probably wait another year or two and snatch one up.
