  1. I have a 1997 ES300 with 130K miles, no mods, and about 12 months ago the CD changer stopped working and refused to let the CD mag come out. I took the unit apart to get the CD mag out but the unit would not work after I played with it. I have been told it is the CD player and the stereo that are not working. Any tips? If your tip is to replace the stereo, please give your recommendation for an aftermarket choice.

Thanks for your help and guidance. Another note, when I tried to access the 'advanced stereo controls' I was only able to get to P-190 screen and no further, as holding the AM did not reveal any menus. When I pressed the 1, 2 and 5 presets, individually, I did get messages that I do not know how to interpret.

  2. I was reading about this on another lexus site, anyone every try this out?

"This is only for the Pioneer headunit and you have to push the 1 and 6 at the same time now holding these two buttons down, you push CD three or four times until the P-190 screen comes up let go of all the buttons and then hold the AM button down for 4 seconds then the Audio screen will come up and you push the tape to get to the F, R, and L settings and the FM to Get to the P1, P2 and W setting you must go to the Audio screen and then turn off the car for the settings to work, put F and R on 5 to 7, 7 for more bass and then P1 to 3 and you will notice a BIG difference. You adjust the number by the up down controll on the side."

I have a 1997 ES300, got to the P-190 screen but no further. My CD player stopped working about a year ago. Would that effect the Advanced Settings? With your stereo knowledge, any tips on getting the CD going without replacing it? Thanks for any help.

    Terry,

I have a 1997 ES300 with 130K miles. Last year the CD player quit, refused to kick out the cartridge, so I took it apart to get it out. About 3 months later the LED readout on the stereo went out. What is the cost to replace them both? I also need an ashtray because my WIFE ripped it out. Let me know if you have them and prices. Thanks for your help.

  4. Hello all,

I just joined the forum today and in need of a chrome rim w/ center cap for my 97 Lexus LS400. Please let me know if you have one or can point me to a place where I can get one. I live in LA. Thank you all in advance.

Try Richard's Auto Salvage in Austell, GA. I was there today to get a trunk lid and he had several units that may work for you.

  5. I need to replace the OEM tires on my 02 ES300. Lots of options, just interested in real world experiences from forum members and their recommendations

Get the Michelin Primacy MXV4 Tires. The cost is high but the ride, control, wet traction, are worth every penny. I have a 1997 that has used Goodyear, Pirelli, and Toyo tires but the Michelins are hands down the best tire I have used. We put 30K a year on the car and when you drive that much a good tire makes a huge difference. If cash is tight, watch for sales. I picked mine up at NTB for a buy three and get one free sale.

    Best of luck.
