  1.

I recently purchased new chrome wheels for my new LS 460. I have the OEM wheels. Any idea on how to go about selling them other than setting up a google site/

Good luck getting much of anything for the OEM wheels. I sold mine on ebay and got $100 for all 4. I would either keep them as extras or give them away.

  2. I've scanned this thread reading a number of complaints including a few from some saying it's the worst car they've ever owned yet they continue to drive it since they're not willing to take the depreciation hit. I've read and seen many rediculous things of late but think this is quite humorous. Nearly everyone of us can afford to do many things in life that most are unable to do and one is to be able to purchase vehicles that are in this category. If I had something that I totally hated, I would not even think twice about the money forfeited in rididng my self of the problem rather than having to wake up everyday and have to deal with it simply over several thousand dollars.

I dare any of you cry babies to show me a vehicle in a similar price range to the LS460 and I'll quickly find a group of whiners much like the ones on this thread that complain about every little thing. Life is short and for those that obviously don't realize that perfection will never be found in an automobile, will just continue to feel that need to share their unhappiness with all.

  3. As LS460 owners we are somewhat limited on available styles that will fit our cars due to the vehicles unusual bolt pattern. Sure there are still quite a few choices however, many can quickly be eliminated as most don't want this great vehicle looking rediculous as many of them would quickly ruin its great look. The factory wheels chrome plated would be a good choice for many wanting to stick with their factory 18 inch tires and can be had for as little as $600 and you get to keep your factory wheels. The prices online are all over the place with some wating $1000 and your current wheels used as an exchange. I had a set on my 07 and recently bought a set for my 08 which I use during the winter months. I also have a set of chrome plates wheels from the Touring Package Model (5 Spoke 19s) and bought another set of 4 sensors along with Michelin Pilots 245/45/19.

  4. I am in the very same position as you. I have been offered a deal too and I am just wondering how sweet it is. I have issues with brake noise and wind noise and rough transmission shifting that will NOT go away. The 2008 I test drove seems to have brake noise as well but the ride and wind noise seems to be much better. Are you noticing any issues on brake noise with your 2008?

Never had a brake noise issue but do think my 08 drives better and is quieter than my former 07. I brought it in for a chaterring noise coming from the headliner (in front of sunroof) and the dealer seems to have solved that issue however, I notice some occasional popping noises coming from the windshield area close to the dash. Since I'm in a cold climate this time of the year, I'll wait for the warmer weather and see if this quiets down since the cold can bring out all sorts of strange noises and such in automobiles.

  5. I have had no problems with Sewell but have only used them for parts orders. I'm not sure I agree that this should have been covered by warranty since a window can break for various reasons not just having evidence of a rock or other object that could have been kicked up from the roadway. If I strike the glass hard enough with my fist, it certainly isn't going to show any signs other than a small crack from the force of my hand. Weather changes also can e a factor as well but you living in TX this senario is probably an unlikely one. If you only had to spend a couple of hundred bucks for the fix I think you did quite well. As far as Sewell trying to sell you the OEM glass, that's their job to make money for the store and that's what most dealers will do. I'm surprises that you had the b**ls to ask the dealer to pay for a windshied on a vehicle that's two yesrs old. The fact that they offered to eat half the cost was a good gesture as far as I'm concerned.

  6. Before I take delivery of my new 2008 LS 460 SWB, I am going to have the dealer install the "wind noise fix," the "transmission hesitation fix" and upgrade the software to version 7.1. Will all those apply to the 2008 model? Is there anything else you'd recommend I ask the dealer to do before I take delivery? Thanx for your input.

What does the software upgrade change?

Please drive the car some--especially on the highway/acceleration ramps to make sure ou can live with the transmission. I still am not happy with the "clunk/thud" generated with downshifts at highway speeds...but otherwise I have been relativley happy with the car after the two "fixes" you have mentioned.

I think my 08 drives so much better than my 07, not sure why it just seems to feel better. I do have the sunroof chattering again although I know it's an easy fix for my dealer. Drive the 08 and you'll fall in love with this car!!!

  7. Decided to trade my 07 LS for an identical 08 except for color. Was scheduled to go in for the wind noise TSB on my 07 and just went ahead and made a deal for a new one. Only had 8500 miles but the deal they gave me was a no brainer and went with it. So far the only difference I feel is what appears to be an even smoother, quieter ride but will report back after a few more miles. By the way, no more need to press on the "Agree" button on the navigation screen, just a quick message apprears regarding safety and then you're good to go.

  8. My navigation system has, on multiple occasions, taken me to the wrong final destination. It has missed the final destination from a few hundred yards to several miles. But sometimes it is right on the final address. The dealer has "recalibrated" the system, but the problem continues. Has anyone had the same problem and its solution?

Just today, I too had the same problem. I was right in front of my destination but it was asking me to keep going in a new direction. Until today, I did not realize that this problem even existed.

Also, another question: Lets say we picked a destination. It shows the exits to be taken. In the previous (98) version, I could tap ahead to see all the exits to be taken. But now, we cant fast forward. Besides, I can't tell whether they are exits which I need to take or just names of passing exits. It seems there are two options. I did not bother to look into it too much. Too many choices in this system! Certainly, its superior to the Idrive of bmw, audio and merc but they are making it too complicated. I find that the $300 Garmin is much more user friendly and simple to use!

These systems are nearly alway on the money but they are made by humans and humans make mistakes. Anyone expecting perfection in a vehicles navigation system is only fooling themself and should be overjoyed by all the accurate destinations it delivers and stop complaining about the 1 or two cases it wasn't spot on. There is so little to complain about with this car that some of us just feel a need to dig deep. This forum is incredibly boring and it's Lexus to thank for delivering such a fine product with very little to talk about except the postive things which so rarely make it on this site.

  9. I have a LS 460L with about 5,000 miles on it. I love the car except for one major problem The paint on the front end chips very easily. I already have 6 or 7 chips which is more than most of my previous cars had the entire time I owned them. My wife has a 2 year old Acura and it doesn't have a single chip. I called the dealership and they said that it is due to the front end shape that the new Lexus cars have and the way the air flows over them. They tried to sell me a $700 3M plastic film coating to prevent chips. It just seems strange to me that I should have to fork over $700 to prevent the paint from chipping on a car that I already paid what I feel like is a lot of cash for. If Lexus knows this is a problem then they should put the film on for free. Is anyone else experiencing this with any of the new Lexus cars? I read something that said the new paint is water based and this is why it chips so easily.

Same problem here as well. After I picked up two small chips below my drivers side headlight, I spent a few hundred bucks to have the #M clear bra installed. $700 is retail but you should be able to find an outfit to do it for about half the price.

  10. Today Lexus installed Michelin HX MXM4's all around after doing a full inspection of the running gear. We've only added 50 miles so too early to tell but they seem quieter although that was not the issue. We'll know more after a few days of driving and update all. Apparently Michelin is their answer to ride issues across the product line.

To early to tell???? You mention in your original post that you've had the vehicle in 3 times in 400 miles so you should know immediately whether the vehicle is riding normal or not. Before your third visit, you should have insisted on driving another vehicle to see of the problem was present and if not, the service dept should have done a wheel swap allowing you to eliminate the problem being wheel/tire related. It's doubtful you had developed flat spots from the vehicle being transported or sitting for any length of time since this sort of issued generally takes much more time to develop. Lastly, the LS460 is one of the finest driving vehicles in the world and is one huge step above your older LSs for both comfort and ride quality. Good Luck

  11. Is this with the trip computer or have you calculated it yourself?

In both cases, the early mileage and that after breakin period, it is the info from the onboard computer.

I've been getting over 21 mpg since I picked up my car nearly 3 weeks ago and that's with a good mix of highway and city driving. I am very pleased so far and would expect mid 20s or better on a long freeway drive.
  12. Has anyone any thoughts about which color combination (exterior, interior and panelling) gives the best look to a 460.

I realize that color is a subjective thing but I would expect that the color combinations suggested by Lexus must rsult in some combination of the 3 factors that are better than others.

There is no poor color choice offered by Lexus and the best color combo is the one the buyer chooses.

  13. people have often complained about this function on Lexus cars. They dont work that well.

a hint is to try and pronounce it like how its spelled and not how we pronounce it.

for example, in LA there is a street named RODEO, pronounced RO-DAY-OH. However, the Nav will not pick that street up if you pronounce it like that. It you have say RO-DEE-OH. So yeah, try to enunciate and say it how its spelled. Thats the only thing you can do.

Thanks for the suggestion but that has failed as well. I have an Infiniti with voice commands and never have this sort of trouble and is a much more user friendly setup. You only have to press the voice command button once and just speak the commands never having to touch the button again between the steps. The Lexus is great but there are a number of short falls and this vc system is the pits.
