  1. Most of those blue tinted bulbs, especially the cheap ones from ebay, does nothing but throw out a weaker and whiter light. Some tinted bulbs actually put out a bit more light than the factory bulbs, such as silverstar ultra or Hoens, but they all have a very short life compare to the OEM bulbs. Where as a HID bulb will put out 3 times as much light as the OEM bulb while using half of the power and a longer life.

Ok, I'm hearing you loud and clear... do you have an HID system/light/bulb that you prefer/recommend? Thank you.

  2. First of all, did you buy a real HID bulb or one of those blue tinted bulb. The blue on you can just plug right in but a real HID will require wiring in relays, ballast and a ignitor.

Your question is a good one... I have the blue tinted bulbs... not an HID... was pretty cheap on eBay... guess I can figure it out on access plug/play... thanks for your guidance.

  3. If you buy it from a good supplier, the kit will come with instruction. Expect to spend about 2 to 3 hours on the upgrade if you are good mechanically and electrically.

Ohhh, I have just the H11 Low Beam bulbs and thought I could unplug the old ones and plug in the new ones... sounds like I am more than a little naive... no directions from supplier... thank you for your response.

  4. Will the TSB and parts replacement include a 2003 GX470 with 29,800 miles and out of their standard warranty period? Thank you.

If you make enough noise about it, you can get it done for nothing....as it should be. It's been a known issue with this vehicle and Lexus should have fixed it permanently as soon as they knew it. But, they say because it is not a safety issue, they will only fix it if a customer complains and if it is still under the 50,000 warranty.

You will see on the newest TSB that part of this service is covered to 70,000 miles and part only until 50,000 miles. Even my Lexus dealership did not know that part of it was covered under the 70,000 mile drivetrain warranty. I had to tell them to check the latest TSB.

In the end, I got the whole thing done for nothing on my 2004 GX470 with over 60,000 miles.

The newest TSB is April 2006. If anyone wants a copy of it, PM me with your email address and I will email you a PDF of it.

Thank you very much... I will speak with my dealer about it... please email a copy of the TSB to me at dlb20011@aol.com... appreciate it.
