  1. this just happebn to me. press and hold "open" for an entire cycle and vuala!

So I unhooked my battery to reset my car for navigation reasons.... not relevant. Hence, now everything has been reset. All the windows now do not work automatically, so I held the button up for 5 seconds then down and now they work. The sunroof is a little more difficult, how the heck do you get it to go automatically now that everything has been reset?
  2. Something about taking your LEXUS to jiffy lube doesnt sound right either. I recommend doign the fluid change only to keep the cost reasonable,.

I was thinking about going to a Jiffy Lube or Pep Boys type place, but since the car is so new it doesn't seem like the best choice, at least for the first 60K or so. It seems from reading the responses to my question that the thing for me to do (since I don't have the training to work on the car myself besides adding fluids and changing wiper blades) is go to the dealer for service, but I'm going to select only what seems essential. I'm just going to go for warranty service, fluid and filter changes, tire rotation, hoses and belt replacement and the like. I'm not going to pay for them to look at things, tighten screws, go for a road test, or top off my washer fluid. I'll also be buying my tires from another place when needed. Thanks to everyone for your thoughts on this matter. Keep 'em coming. They're not only entertaining and informative, but will be saving me (and hopefully anyone who is new to the luxury car market and reads this thread) thousands of dollars over the long haul. You would think that the dealer would have your best interest in mind when setting up the service schedule, but obviously they're a money-making business and are going to try to get as much as they can.
  3. I have an 06 430, just purchased a month ago. I have tried several discs and get no display, had it at the dealer and they say its the discs. I think they are full of it. What cd's have you tried that show the name and song? I have tried newer & older cd's and still get no display.

    Thanks,

    Mick

sux, the text does not scroll. and my ipod hook up displays text. you may have to use a cd with text in it or mp3's

  4. Latest update:

12V battery died during procedure. Had car jumped and car starts now.

    Current issues:

[1] Drivers door no longer can open/close other windows

[2] DVD hack doesn't seem to have taken hold...

    Wow!!

I recently installed the ipod adapter from vais technology and was temped to do the dvd override....but with my luck, i would screw something up. I feel for you! also, your warranty might be in danger if anything was burnt out.

keep up updated on your progess.

  5. In order to play ur ipod on a gs300 you have to purchase either a ipod radio transmitter or a mp3 casette extention. The radio transmitter doesnt exactly give the best quality. But at the same time, over a period of time the casette extention makes a moderately high pitched noise when the casette needs to be switched around. I personally rather the casette extention.

    Thanks,

I understood that the Lexus dealer can install a hard wired plug to connect directly into the audio unit??

Do you know anything about that?

I have a GS300 2006, and just installed an adapter...works great using the touch screen on your navigation.

    look up vaistech.com

lexus or car stereo places will sell and install for you. the adapter is about $300 and installation is $200 - 300 depending where you go.

if you search the forums, you will find instructions how to do it your self.

I installed myself, not hard at all!

took me 30min to do....worth it!

  6. I've installed the vais tech unit in my car and it works great. If you want to control the iPod via the touchscreen you do have to generate playlists. The nice thing is that it does control the iPod so that when a bluetooth phone call comes in it will pause the iPod, when you shut off the car, or switch to radio or CD it will pause the iPod.

I have a web site that details the installation in my 2005 GX470

    Daryl!!

    You are the man!

I just got my GX470 and was researching the Vias ipod controller. Dealers want to charge up to $300 to install, your posting will come in handy after I get my adapter in the mail.

    Thank You!!!

    Yo! DARYL!!!

your step by step guide was the greatest!

I just installed the SLI unit intio my GX and dude! it works crazy cool. no more FM transmitters to mess with, clear CD sound from my owesome sound system!'

for you interested in doing it yourself, it only takes about 30 mins max! do it! you'll save up $300 in installation fees.

    cool.

  7. Well, I spoke too soon. I just got a reply from the administrator on the Vais forum. Here is what it said:

"We have had this problem back in January of 2006, in about 500 units.

Our factory installed a wrong component on the board that was causing this problem. If you bought your unit around that time, then you need to send it back for repair."

Looks like it was not a Lexus problem. I'm just happy there is a fix.

    hmm?

I dont have a Vais device instaled and I am having the same problem. I am taking my 2005 GX470 in to the lexus dealer and see what is the problem exactly.

did anyone finad an answer beside the Vais?
