I saw an article in an automotive magazine that stated the 2012 RX450h is now specified to run on 87 octane. Did anyone else see this stated anywhere and is it true? If true I wonder if the previous years can be converted? Any thoughts?
I HAVE BEEN RUNNING 87 octain in my 2007 rx400h runs great

My RX400h was manufactured 10/08, today, after a 15 minute drive, I hooked up the Lexus tester (Vetronix Mastertech 3100) as described in Lexus TSIB EG010-05, and followed the described ISC learning procedure.... The car was already warmed up and fully charged, so I turned the ignition to on, the ISC learning status showed "INCOMPL" on the Lexus Tester, as the instructions said it would, then turned the ignition to run, while the "INCOMPL" was being displayed, let the car start on its own, cycle off and when it did.... the display changed from INCOMPL to COMPLETE, just like the instruction in the SB said it would if it was done correctly..... Now for the test..... I disconnected the 12 volt engine compartment battery for 10 minutes, when I reconnected it and got inside, I turned the ignition to on and had to reset each window manually, the moonroof and rear door, and clock...... so once again turned on the Lexus tester and scrolled to the ISC Learning status page and when it came up, it showed as INCOMPL..... so I turned the ignition to run, after a few seconds, the engine started on its own,ran for about 2 minutes, then shut off, when the engine shut off, the status changed from INCOMPL to...... COMPLETE.... Drove the RX400 the same route and the MPG was nearly identical to before the battery was disconnected....
i thought it does not apply to 2007 and up ask a guru !!!!!!!!!!!

OK have had my RX400h for a couple of months now..I noticed recently with the warmer weather that when the car is rolling at slow speed (under 25) you hear a scraping noise from the wheels, mostly from rear. For each revolution of the wheel there is a scrape sound. Last night I took of the caliper and the noise was still there. I believe it is the emergency brake shoes. I took the drum off and noise is gone...Man is this car so quiet that we dont really hear these noise with the normal no hybrid? However this morning all four tires are make a weird squish noise rolling out...Does everybody hear these noises also? The tires are Toyo Country's The car has 92k miles. By the way there was no noise on the rear after removing the brake disk... The adjusters do work on the brake shoes and they seemed free. Maybe the release cable is not pulling back everytime..Anyway I am interested if anyone hears these noises also on their hybrid at low speed (backing up and forward)
i keep 32-33-34 psi in my tires not the 30 recommeded

Hello,
I want to buy a 2007 Lexus RX400h 25000miles which comes from USA, because I'm from Romania and I would like to know what should I be worried about or what should I look at and also the real fuel consumption, battery replacement and other issues. I mention that it is Full Options.
Also the car is about 33000$ which is a very good price in my country.
Thank you very much,
Sorin.
P.S Sorry for my bad english. :)
hi sorin
i have a 2007 rx400h i bought it new and for 3 years now i have never had a repair = fuel is usually 23-24 mpg in the city - i can get 40 mpg if i am very careful and use the feathering of the gas and minding the display to make sure i am running on the battery only - but it is so much fun to drive a bit more aggressively - the battery is warrented for 8 years and very few have gone bad - also i think the battery should last a lot longer than 8 years-the 12 volt battery should last at least 4 years - this has been a great car for me and i love it - the price 33k sounds right
Thank you very much for the answer. I am still waiting for the car to arrive in Romania so I can't tell you very much about it.
And with the winter coming in 2 months what about it's behaviour in snow with very good winter tires?
i am using the original michelon tires that are all season = i have tried to get stuck in the deep snow but the car just keeps going = i have tried to skid going around corners but i cannot get it to skid - as far as i amconcered it is a great snow car - i have all wheel drive - also the anti lock brakes do a great job on ice and snow - i feel very safe driving on any weather --- richard

hi i have a 2007 rx400h i bought it new and i love it = 3 years old and never a repair = i can get 40 mpg if i feather it but most of the time i get less cause it is so fast and fun to drive = try to find a used 2007 as the newer ones have some changes that i don't care for = like the nav. screen and the joy stick control = i like mine better - the battery is warrented for eight years and none of them have been replaced that i know of - so not to worrry - i did buy the extended 7 yr package just in case - this is a highly reliable car - take one for a test drive and you will be very impressed - richard4u

i think you are holding the learning button on the garage door opener - i think you just push it once then push the button in the car read the instructions again - do not hold the learing button down

It was raining last night when I parked my car and locked it. Today I came out to find all of the windows lowered and the moon roof half-opened. The car was still locked and I had the key in my pocket all night. I couldn't get the windows back up until I used my key. Any ideas or experiences with ghost window operators?
you must have leaned on the key and held the door open button down for enough time to activate the open windows and moon roof feature = normal operation for the feature - read the owners mmanual

Hey guys.
I've had my Rx400h since May, and have recently noticed a change in power now that the outside temperatures are below freezing. It seems that the Rx400h is just SLOW and underpowered now that it's cold out! I hear the engine rev higher than it usually does even with minimal acceleration, but the car doesn't move like it used to when it was warmer out...
Anyone find this to be true in their Rx400h? Thanks <_<
here in ohio it goes from 90 to zero degrees - i never noticed any change in power - i think there might be a problem with your rx400h - i have a 2007 and it goes just great

as for the backup lamps - there is a shield on the bulb that can be removed to increase the illumation - the procedure is in this forum - i cannot remember where it is exactly - i will try to find it for you - the shield cuts out about 1/2 the light as to direct it donward !

Ok First off I am new here
My wife and I just purchased a 2006 rx400h
with 34000 miles. So far i after 2 days an
50 miles I am truly amazed. 30 mpg mixed, gentle driving.
We also have a porsche 911 (83)
a 88 BMW 325 convertible, and a Ford truck.
I work on my vehicles and am a mechanic and tech head.
So here's the question.
With the lead acid battery at say 800 CCA, could one
use a add on invertor at 1000 watts to preheat the coolant
for say 2 hours as had been suggested?
If my math is right (big if) then it would use say 17aH
1000x2/120=16.6
Would there be enough reserve to than start the engine?
Seems like it would be a nice system to design for when one isn't
near an oultlet.
hello ! ! the lead acid battery does not start the car - the hybrid battery does - but wait - do not put any load on the lead acid battery - it is very small and it can go dead in a few minutes - it is only there to power up the computer that starts the car - yikes i have run down the lead acid bettery several time by leaving the door ajar -- this is not a battery that is found in a regular car = BEWARE and good luck richard

I dropped one of mine putting the cover back. The Lexus dealer has tons and will give it to you free.
I lost 2 pieces also and Lexus dealer charged me $3.23 each. I felt like someone just robbed me. What a scam
if that is really true - your dealer is a rat = mine was glad to give them to me for free = can you go to a different dealer ??

ljbad4life, i had never owned a foreign made car until i purchased my 400h in july 2005. After waiting a on a list for a year it was the most i have ever spent on a vehicle. For me i wanted a hybrid suv larger than a prius and i felt that could only come from toyota, and i wanted something safer and more comfortable for work than my 99 ford exploder, purchased new, that was the worst ford i have ever owned and we drive alot of their trucks in my family business. I think of my vehicle as much as a toyota as a lexus. In Japan, until last year high end vehicles were sold as toyotas, there was no lexus brand.
The year i spent on the waiting list i read everything i could on this forum and frankly it was a source of support before i made my final decision to buy. I purchased my car from a smaller lexus dealer south of seattle, i still go there for service and with few exceptions they have performed beyond my expectations. My salesman called me once a week for six months to see how i was doing with my car. Toyota has sent at least four surveys asking about my experience with the vehicle and what could they do to make it better. I know of no other brand more connected to its customer than this one. It is common knowledge that when lexus first came out it was a huge wakeup call for mercedes because the japanese were now making luxury vehicles cheaper by far than the bloated mercedes and much more reliable. I agree other brands may be more sporty, and the seats are comfortable however there might be better ones out there. I can tell you driving this hybrid car has changed my way of driving for the better,(my employees will tell you there was alot of room for improvement) i have learned to drive in a smoother more hybrid style to save fuel, and sitting in traffic knowing i am coasting with the engine off has made what used to be frustrating actually fun. i applaud what mercedes has done with diesels, a necessity in europe, if i won the lottery i mght look at an SL, but for now and the forseeable future at 52,000 miles mark me down as very happy with my 400h
i love my 2007 rx400h best car ever owned next best was 1976 cady fleetwood

Hi,
I've problems with the sunroof of my Rx400H-2006.
My battery went dead once and after that the automatic opening and closing of the sunroff doesn't work. I need to press the switch all the time and release it exactly when th roof is closed.
Any ideas?
yes
you have to run it thru a complete manual cycle to reset the auto function
you also have to cycle the windows thru a complete cycle - this has to be done for each window by using the switch for each seat - you cannot do it from the drivers seat
-
I need to disconnect the Aux battery to reset my moonroof. The dealer says there is no security code for the radio...but I want to be sure before I disconnect the battery. Anyone know for sure??
It wouldn"t be the first time the dealer was wrong, and I don't want any problems with the radio/sound system.
Dave
Only if you set the code, Otherwise no code. ;)
why reset your moonroof ???? just run it thru a full cycle and it should reset itself
the power windows have the same procedure but you have to cycle them from each indivual window
if your batter goes dead and or / if you disconnect it - you have to reset roof and windows manually as described above

hi CD - i have a 2007 rx400h bought new in 07 - yes there are some noises like when you open the door from outside it makes some kind of whirring sound. there are several other electronic sounds that come on - these are all normal - when turned off there are several interesting sounds it makes - i would not call them noises but pleasant reminders that you are driving a hybrid !!!!

i know you cant use flashlight batteries - it was kind of a joke - excuse me i am 71 years oldi heard you can start the car with flashlight batteries since the 12 volts is only needed to start the computer -Me thinks you heard wrong, Grasshopper! ;)
