Are there any downsides to running the air conditioning while parked and idling on an RX330? Would overheating be an issue?

I've always wondered if this causes any issues to either the engine or air conditioning components. I generally don't have the air conditioning running if I'm parked.

I am in the process of sending the cd player out for repair. It is suffering from the infamous Error4.

Can anyone offer advise on removing the wood trim from the gearshift panel. I'm worried about damaging the wood trim.

Also can anyone confirm that the navigation and hvac functions will continue to work if the cd player/radio is removed?
