  1. I ran and operated a wheel and tire store for the last 7 Yrs. Spacers can cause major headaches...

Designo,You have a nice stable of cars, So I know $ isnt an issue. Alot of the Spacers Designed today, EIBACH, H&R, or the TCS sportline are all Race oriented. Though hub centric, Industry leaders will tell you spacers arent for daily driver use. (I'm not saying their not structually rigid enough, use em everyday if you like) but dont be suprised if you have different windows of vibration with all the spacers you use.

IF you want your brand new flagship, Luxury Sedan to ride like a dream, Dont cut any corners, and get some wheels with the correct offset, to fit your visual desires.

+35mm or such. You might want something closer to +30 in the rear.

    Good luck. :D

  2. VERY INSIGHTFULL AND INFORMATIVE POST FROM PATICAKE.

sry not the best picture but this is the left OCV out of my 98 GS400.

Same conditions as Paticake mentioned. Multiple misfires, engine idling poorly, misfire on all 4 cylinder on one side. I thought my engine was done for.

I have had my fair share of Coil pack issues. I knew there was no way 4 plus or 4 coil packs when out at the same time. Removed and fire tested each coil pack, Replaced all 4 plugs on that bank for extra messure (yes i got all 8) Removed front convers to check VVTi cam Gear marks for TDC to match the crank. All At TDC. REMOVED left OVC, feed it - and + an it did nothing (not plunging). Removed Right OVC and feed it - and + and it plunged everytime.

MY QUESTION NOW IS, WHERE IS THE FILTERS FOR THE VVTi IN THE V8'S? BEHIND THE VVTi GEAR ASSEMBLY?

  3. A Lexus is not going to get you out of speeding tickets, ESPECIALLY on 22s.

I also removed your shop's contact info from your post. If you'd like to set up an advertising or sponsorship arrangement let us know, but we don't allow uncomponsated promotion on our site.

I JOINED TO FIND INFO, TECH, AND SUGGESTION FOR MY NEW LEXUS. THAT IS ALL.. I APOLOGIZE FOR THE TRESPASS.

YEAH IF YOU GO FROM A TURBOCHARGED 300+hp SWAPPED DAILY DRIVER CIVIC TO A "MORE LUXURIOUS" LEXUS YOU PLAN ON PEOPLE SEEING MORE THEN YOU WANT THEM TO SEE YOUR TAILIGHTS, IT SLOWS THE TICKETS JUST A HINT.

    :P

THIS POST WAS MERELY AN INSIGHT FOR ANYONE THAT MIGHT WANT 22'S. NOT EVERYONE KNOWS THEY MAKE THOSE PROFILE OF TIRES AND ALOT OF LOCAL TIRE/WHEEL SHOPS TELL MOST CUSTOMERS THAT ALOT OF WHEEL AND TIRE COMINATIONS WONT FIT. FOR EXAMPLE: this time last year we had a 1998 MERCEDES S500 COUPE. Nice car, kinda quick, bullet proof double pane glass, and ever vendor and wheel manufacturer told us 22" wouldnt fit, finally I ordered some 22x8.5 wheels with a HIGH offset and the then "lowest profile" tire made (the 255-30-22) put them right on, never scrubbed, rubbed or anything...

  4. With the ever changing automotive world, it seem wheels are getting bigger and bigger and tyres getting smaller and smaller. I just picked up a 1998 LEXUS GS400. Most people would run either the OEM wheels, a staggered larger size for performance or the traditional DUBS (20's, if i could call it that) but since I operate a rim shop in my area DUBS just wont surfice... time for some 22's. Thankfully falken, nitto and a few others offer a newer, lower profile 235-30-22 and a 245-30-22 tires.(last year the lowest profile tire was a 255-30-22 nitto/hanook/pirelli)

get some 22x7.5/8/8.5 and call it a day...

  5. I run a rim and tire store in WESTERN NC and maybe its the cheaper tires but every tire I have ever ran across one that was "nitrogen" filled it was seperated on the inside and had went flat (yes i know running a tire flat breaks the inside down) but I have seen a few and all of them went flat and had this distinct smell to them.

I am guessing the automotive world researched the nitrogens affect on rubber, before using it?

DOES ANYONE HAVE A PICTURE OF THESE? PICTURE NEVER LOADS.

  7. I am the new owner of a 1998 lexus GS400. I purchased the car about 2 weeks ago.

It has 143k, something in the ABS system has malfunctioned, thus throwing the VSC light and disabling the VSC, so she will get a lil sideways w/o the traction control. I am yet to get it fixed but if you guys have seen this happen often and know what normally causes it (abs sensor gone bad), VSC sensors got soda on them (ones mounted under center console) etc let me know :)

  8. As a former honda fan and avid honda owner/tuner, I wondered if motors where as "easily

swap-able" in the toyota/lexus ranks. After working for toyota as a service manager, i noticed TUNDRA EQUIPPED 2UZ-FE 4.7L. Wonder if you could build a GS470 using the bottom end from this engine... kinda of like a "b20/VTEC" ENGINE was famous in the honda world.... (non vtec bottom end, but retained a longer stroke on the crank and larger bore on the cylinders, mated to a high flowing vtec head)

also what engines or what year cars share the same engine... in case someone needed to find a long block for lets say a 98 GS400. I know my model and i guess anything after 98 has vvti, but what shortblocks from other lexus/older GS model cars will work?

sorry guys I am a newbie... :whistles:

  9. Music artist and actor, Redman has a black SC430. And, Ashley Simpson also has a black SC430.

Also, I was watching this show called "Rides" on TLC. Where they placed a GS430's engine into a IS300 and customized the IS300 even more with lots of other things. And, called the "IS300" the "IS430."

sweet! I did always wonder why the IS model never offered anything bigger then the 3.0l inline 6 but in the GS models you could have a 3, a 4 and a 430. Guess its lexus way of pushing consumers to buy the more $$$ GS models.
