  1. Thanks for the advice from you all. I should have said also that I am not a do it your selfer. Girl, whose husband is hands off my car, for such things.

I did take the car to the Toyota place to have the service, (not the Lexus dealer). I guess I got taken, as the service guy did bring in the old filter to me and it looked dirty (he said) then I read tonight that it's supposed to be gray on one side! But it did look dirty, and the old service records which I have, don't mention it ever being changed.

I did use synthetic oil, and paid to have the tires rotated (convenience since I was there and I work), so I had a hefty little bill. (Filter alone was 48$ plus labor to put it on.)

Just paranoid about my car not getting the right stuff at the right time. And I am not wealthy so it needs to last a long time.

For the person who asked for pics, I don't have a digital camera yet and not savvy about pics on the computer.

But I really value the info I read on this forum. Haven't posted much, but I read lots!!

  2. I have not posted in quite some time, but I am a non mechanic female owner of an LS430, 2003, for a few months. I bought the car with 33K on it, just had my transmission flushed and synthetic oil change, and tire rotation. (Thanks to advice from you all.)

Now I occasionally hear a creaking sound(s) when my steering wheel goes back to its origianal position after the car is turned off. Has anyone else experienced this, and does it mean trouble? or a trip to a mechanic?

I appreciate your help in any other areas also. I need to let this car carry my ashes to the crematorium, and really want to take care of it. Thanks in advance for any help.

  3. Disclaimer: I am not a Lexus owner.....yet. But I have the hots for a nice, used LS400.

However, I am having trouble finding one with heated seats. Since I live in Indiana,

with cold winters, I would REALLY like to have heated seats. Not to mention, Mama would REALLY

like to have heated seats. And we all know that if Mama is happy.....well, it will help me buy a Lexus.

So, whats up with these heated seats? Are they a rare option? And which models were most likely to

have them? Could a model without the heated seats be retrofitted? (I am guessing yes, if you want to shell out

    major buck$$$).

    Thanks,

    Lan

I have a "new" to me 03 LS 430, and the seats are both heated and cooled. It does not have nav system, nor some other options mentioned in the manual, so I don't know how you will know which models have the heat.

  4. Thanks for the opinion. I'll search for the tranny flush info... when...what... etc, on these boards. Sorry, I've not been into auto stuff before, (need to go to powder puff auto classes, I guess). Since the dealer is an hour's drive, does it matter who does the non-warranty stuff? These is a Toyota dealer here, don't know how good the service department is.

  5. I finally got a used Lexus last week! 03 Ls 430. 33,000 miles-- from individual. The warranty will run out in one month. Should I go to Lexus of Mobile and purchase an extended warranty? I will be on a tight budget with this car, but so far it is a dream and I love it! I would appreciate your advice or experiences. And if I should look to another place for this answer, please advise. I'm new to this forum business. Thanks.
