I have a 2000 lx470 with 71,000miles on it. The malfunction lamp came on code (e). Truck has gas and cap is tight. not loosing any power during driving. The Lexus dealer said it is ok to drive has me scheduled for a $159 diaognostic appointment. Is their anything i can do or check out that may be a simple fix?
Go to Harbor Freight Tools and spend $40 for an OBD Diagnostic Tool that will tell you the code and reason for why the Check Engine light came on (likely it's a bad oxygen sensor). It takes 3 minutes to diagnose. Then at least you'll know what you're in store for to get it repaired, and don't have to spend $159. If it's the Oxygen Sensor, it'll cost about $140 for the part and about 1 hour labor (I know because my LX just had the same problem). Good luck.

It's on the driver's side, front corner of the engine. You need to remove a small metal plate under the engine to access it. You can also see it from the top of the engine. Don't know what size of wrench you need. The drain plug is toward the back of the engine. Again, you need to remove a small plastic plate (1 bolt) under the car to access it.
I ordered a mightyvac to change oil on another engine and I decided to start changing my Lexus' oil. I looked under the hood butI can't find the oil filter. Where is it located and how do you get access? What size top cap wrench does the oil filter require?
Thanks for helping a neophyte,
Dave

I have a 2000 LX 470. The Check Engine light came on. I diagnosed it as Trouble Code #P0155, which notes an Oxygen Sensor Heater problem (Bank 2, Sensor 1).
Has anyone changed this O2 sensor? Where specifically is it located and is it a big job? My local mechanic is going to charge me 1 hour labor in addition to the part cost of $138 (which doesn't sound too bad).
Any words of advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Fortunately, this is a VERY easy fix...just raise the antenna mast with the control button on your consol (near th e radio controls). Check your manual if you"re uncertain what button it is.
