I have a 2002 SC430 that I purchased last week but it doesn't have a navigation cd. I went to Lexus yesterday and they wanted $300 for it. I need to purchase & would appreciate it if someone could contact me regarding a purchase, was hoping that Tony might be able to sell me one or someone else out there?? Thanks, melissavac7811@aol.com

  2. Tony, for whatever reason the board won't let me PM you, probably because I just registered. In any case, I'm looking for a gps update for my dad's 2002 sc430. It's a gen 2/3 and he has the original maps from around 2001, so 6.1 or up would work great. Please let me know, e-mail atamez AT umich DOT edu

TODAY I purchased an 02 sc430 and noticed the nav didn't have correct I95 exit numbers in Florida - what disk can I purchase to upgrade to best most recent improved version? Is it a simple DVD swap or must deal adjust something?

    I can help with v7.1 in Gen 3, 4 or 5

I will check this forum more regularly.

  4. I am very disappointed in Lexus's wanting to charge the customer for upgrading their navigation system. I call them to upgrade because the navigation systems do not have some street information. I was informed that the cost to the customer to upgrade was over $250.

I know if I owned another navigation system the upgrades and downloads are free.

Now my RX400H navigation system is not up to date and I am being held hostage to being a good Lexus customer. This is a good reason why car dealers are in such bad shape. I am a loyal service customer and have Lexus service my car. I could definitely save money going somewhere else.

Please join me in expressing this concern to Lexus that they should provide navigation updates to their customer at no charge, just as long as you are still under warranty, and not be the nickel and dime the customer car dealer

  5. I have 09 RX350 with Nav. Can the disk from my o9 be inserted into my 05 SC Nav unit? In the 09 Nav unit it is a small pleasure not to have to hit the I AGREE button every time I start up.

The two cars have different gen systems and so the discs are not interchangeable.

Also, the gen4 system found in your 05SC will still display the I Agree message even though you upgrade to 7.1.

Step Hen is correct, you have 2 different units, gen 4 & gen 5 discs are not interchangeable

  6. Yes you can, you use version 4.2 GEN 4 and these files INDEXDAT.KWI, LOADING.KWI, 05.CMP and IDX folder files

then add the rest from the latest version.

The link is the second thread you posted. The original poster didn't fully test the system out, and he only saw the new map data and never tried to fully enter in a destination. A 7.1/4.2 disc won't let you navigate anywhere, which defeats the purpose.

Read the thread to the last page where others test it out and find the fault, which the OP admits to as well.

I realize that, I'm saying it worked for me in my wifes 06 SC430. I will check the files but the last disc I burned was v7.1 not v6.1. Either way my apologies.

  7. As he has a gen4 system, he won't be able to make a hybrid disc with a 7.1 disc. The best he could use would be a 6.1/5.1 hybrid.

  8. Ditto; I just replaced the four 235/55VR-18 OE Goodyear RS-A tires on my wife's 2007 RX350 AWD at 17,900 miles due to excessive treadwear on the inside and outside edges of all 4 tires. Driving style average, split 80%-20% city/highway in SE USA (no snow/ice). Tires were rotated and balanced every 7,500 miles and I maintained tire pressure at 32 with digital gauge and tpms never triggered. Bottom line: these tires are junk! Shame on Lexus for using them as OE tires; I expected better quality. Replaced with Michelin's and had a 4-wheel alignment done at dealer ($69 special). Will let you know how the Michelins perform.

Air Pressure too low, 38 psi has resulted in excellent tire wear in same application.
