  1. I have another dash light issue. My 92 LS400 had a problem about a month ago where my left brake light stopped working. When I went to check the bulb, I found that the entire tail light assembly was half full of water and the tail light holder was rusted out. The rust caused bad electrical contact which made the light fail.

I cleaned off the rust, replaced the bulb, empied the water out and sealed the tail light assembly to keep water out in the future. Now the brake light works. However, the little amber light on the dash that warns that you have a burned out tail light is still on and I cannot get it to go off.

    Any ideas??

    Thanks Frodo

Sorry... messed up on my typing...

My guess is the electronic module monitoring your tail-light status is out. Its located in the trunk - upper left side (white box in my 1993 LS400). My unit went out a couple weeks ago. Lexus will charge $350 for the module...suggest you find a used part.

  2. I have a 1993 LS400. Just yesterday my wife complained that the driver seat belt does not retract. The whole thing just spooled out. I tried feeding it back in and working it back and forth but no joy.

It looks like I need to replace the retractor unit. Has anyone done this before? Does anyone know how to remove the plastic cover on the pillar?

  3. I have a 1993 LS400. Starting last week, every time I turn the ignition key off, pull it out of the ignition, and open any door, the warning bell rings about 6 times. It sounds like the warning bell when the headlights when you inadventently leave on your headlights. I tried resetting the system by temporarily disconnecting the battery, checked all the doors, and ensured the lights were off.

It's bugging the heck out of me. Any insight to what is causing this?

  4. I seem to have this really odd problem with my LS400. While accelerating at the speed of between 40-60 mile range, the car consistently hesitates, hestation turns into forward shaking. It always goes away when the speed reaches 60, and does not start again untill you get back to 40MPH again.

Anyone has any ideas as to what the issue may be. Thanks in advance

I have a 93 LS400 and I have the exact problem you discussed. I tried changing to a different gas but it didn't help. It seems to be related to the RPM (little over 2000), however, when I rev the engine to 2000 in neutral, it's perfect - no hesitation.

  5. Help...

I have a 1993 LS400 with the Nakamichi 6 disc CD Changer in the trunk. The right channel audio is dead from the CD only; I can get output if I use AM or FM. I checked the connections on the CD in the trunk and they look okay.

My assumption is that my right channel pickup on the CD is dead.

Does anyone know where I can get a used or replacment unit?

  6. obergc... I found the fuse... thanks very much. You saved me some bucks and lots of inconvenience if I had to take to Lexus.

By the way, while I was under the dash, I noticed a little black knob that clicked on/off + some turns. I have never seen it before (never crawled under the dash before). Any idea what it is?

  7. I have a 1994 LS400. Can anyone tell me where the "fuse" is for the cigarette lighter is? I know it's the fuse since I can't even get my lighter to work with the ignition switch on.

I tried looking for the fuse in the fuse compartment next to battery but to avail. Is it on the kickpanel on under the dashboard?

Help... It's got to be staring right at my face :( .
