Where should I buy parts for a 2000 Lexus Rx 300 for timing belt replacement. If I buy the parts from a Toyota dealer will I get OEM parts for Lexus or are those just Toyota parts that are compatible with their Lexus brand? I looked in Ebay see link below, it says OEM parts some are listed as Toyota and some are not....now I'm not sure what to look for to ensure that I'm putting in OEM parts. I had the same problem, I have replaced oxygen sensors but the problem never went away. I have also tried cleaning the MAF sensor, it worked for a while but came back after a week or so.

I replaced it with our Toyota Corolla's MAF sensor which was totalled at 5K miles. This was about a year and half ago.

I have no issues since then.

Seems that all Toyota MAF sensors are interchange.

Take the RX MAF sensor to a Toyota dealer so u r sure the part matches.

My RX 300 with ran about 30 miles this morning, we had heavy rain today, in the PM I cranked it up, it ran at very low idle speed and then died off, I tried it couple of times and engine starts as if its half dead & the check engine light came on. I neved had this error code before, adn the RX was runnig ngreat so far.

I used a OBD II scanner and I got the error code P0115 - Engine coolant temp circuit malfunction.

It's still raining adn I did not pop the hood up.

How do I fix this. I tried to search the forums but have no luck in finding anything usefull to me, or I was unsuccessfull in searching.

Can anyone point me to the thread if this topic was discussed & resolved before, or suggest some tips to get this thing to work.

"Disconnect BOTH ATF cooler lines at radiator and place a container or pan under each line end (helps to have an assistant). Start engine, shut down after 1 or 2 quarts have come out one of the lines. Refill exact amount of fresh fluid in transmission (this keeps air out of the system).

Start engine again and repeat until clean fluid is coming out of cooler line. This is messy and time consuming but will purge all old ATF from transmission and torque converter. Reinstall cooler lines and start car, cycle through gears, place in park and check level per owners manual. Check for leaks. Top up as necessary after driving and heated up. Don't overfill.

You just safely flushed the whole system"

If we skip adding this "God know what additive", and just drain as mentioned from the cooler lines at radiator and fill tranny back, this process should be safe.

TP Position Sensor/Switch ‘‘A’’ Circuit Malfunction

I have above code (with the key on engine off).

Is this self fixable or not?

I have Yoko Geolandar tires (around $100 each at Discount Tire). The ride is smooth and quiet though I don't know if the Michelins are more quiet but these are better than the stock tires for sure.

I have put 22k miles on them and there is just little tread wear. You may want to check out www.tirerack.com. They have reviews for just about everything.

I prefer Dunlops, have better rating than Michelins. Try tire rack or discount tires. Don't get their warranty, it's useless. You have to take it to a tire shop, and they just refund your money, prorated.

If you are a BJ's or Sam's or Costco member they have these tires, road hazzard, tire rotation with balancing and flat fix (actual patching with balancing) are included in the price.

My "Malfunction" light comes on and goes off. If I just leave it and ignore the light what wil happen?

The Air Ratio Sensors were replaced for (2 x $ 227. = $454. 00 and Diagnosis Charge of

$ 152.00 for a total of $606.00) this was at 47, 855 miles. The codes were "Air Fuel Ratio Sensors" the codes were (1). P0440 - Evap. control sys. problem (2). P1130 & P1150 Air / Fuel sensors B1s1 & B1S2 performance malfunction.

They just came out with a gov't forced letter for all those who haven't gotten one yet. I think many T&L owners still have NO CLUE about it.

I have a 2000 RX 300, with 54K, will I get any extended warranty for the so called sludge uilding engine. If so where should I call?

ive only owned a 2000 Rx300 for a short time maybe half of a year and its got about 80k miles on it and im debating on trading it in for a 2001 range rover with 75k miles on it. with all the great tranny stories around maybe shelling out the extra money on gas isnt a completely bad idea. does anybody have any Opinions on this idea. i like my Rx but i dont like being stranded on a cold road in the middle of winter either.

Range Rover's are unreliable. If you get a new one, sell it before the end of your bumper to bumper warranty.

Don't get an old one with 75K, you be sorry.

Check consumerreports for reliability ratings of these SUV.

The RX hibrid is highly rated or go for a Toyota Highlander - one of the top rated.

You need to get those, I learned it the hard way, I used to have a off-white RX, had no flaps, every month I ended up cleaning all the tar that ended on the sides. Finally I got it dealer installed.

My father in-law is an expert in car mechanics, and it is his idea that if the car manufactures makes a suggestion strictly follow it. Well now I ended up with tosted ATF, and this crap jumps as if I jolteed it with 100, 000 Amps everytime i put it on drive or reverse.

The above suggested method is what I used to do for my Camry, and it was so easy just drain and fill.

I guess I will follow the same for this SUV too.

I'm just surprised as to why the book makes the suggestion of 100K. They have all this crappy complaints and they still stick on to those guidelines.

Transmission fluid dark brown or rusty color, when I put it in drive it kind of jumps, not smooth. The book says no service needed for 100K.

Should I change the ATF etc etc??

If you paln to keep this SUV for a while, I would recommed getting a Life time Wheel alignment Plan , Firestone Service sells it for about $119.00 on sale, so does Vespia's not sure how much they charge for life time.

I have always used this lifetime alignment and was really worth it for the life of the vehicle. (Two alignment checks and you get your money back)

some issues with really bad wobbling and vibration from the tires----- you need to get the tires balanced, or it might be as simple as some wheel lug nuts loose. First check if the lug nuts are tight enough, if all are ok, get the wheel balanced and alignment - you are really going to see a big difference. Then stay away from pot holes - or you be standing in line for your next alignment.

My 2000 RX pulls to on coming traffic if I let go the wheel, and my front tires seems to have lost much more thread compared to the rear, time to take it in.
