  1. I was told to drain the radiator because the intake manifold has coolant running thru it...because you dont want to get water in the engine.

I guess what i want to know (two parts, if not three...) is do i really need to drain the water or how would water get in the engine? When the valve cover is off one could accidentlly spill in the valve area where water could get in or can water get in somehow by the manifold thru pressure high/low??

This what I did: I removed the intake manifold, all but one hose the other two I pluged with bolts to stop coolant from draining. Then I was able to hang the intake manifold from the hood so it was standing up but one of the hoses was still connected. it hung there until I finished the valve gasket, replaced the upper intake manifold gasket (which was cheaper at the lexus dealer vs. kragen, pep boys, auto zone) and then put everthing back on and it fired right up.

I would like to know if by doing that is there a chance of water getting in the engine other than accidentally spilling water in the valve area when the cover was off because I didnt get water in the valve area???

    thanks for ur help....anyone....anyone ....hello....haha

  2. I believe the remote needs to be reprogrammed each time the battery is removed (or replaced).  Search the forums for the keywords "remote program" or "keyless program"... I know the instructions are on here somewhere because I have used them before.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

couple weeks ago my remote stopped working i just replaced my battery i thought my remote control needs to be reprogrammed but no i just changed the battery and it was fine...

so you don't need to reprogram the remote after changing the bettery....

speak to the dealer see what he says or go to ebay buy a key for 80$ and they'll provide the way to reprogram...

why am I having trouble finding the FAQ??

  3. ES owners,

I am a LS owner but I have a friend who has an ES 300 with keyless remote trouble...I see by the postings that this problem is not unusual.

    Hopefully someone can help...

    Scenario:

About a year ago my friend noticed that the signal strength on his remotes seemed to be getting weeker. Then finally remotes stopped working aprox 10 months ago.

    Symptoms:

    1) Push the remote multiple times before it would actually engage work.

    2) He noticed that the distance between himself and the car was getting shorter and shorter before the remote keyless would work.

    Unsucessful attempt:

    1. Replaced batt's in remote keys.

    2. Cleaned the connections in the keys themselves. ( He is a wrist watch technician so I assume he knew what he was doing).

Any further suggestions, cheapest and easiest first appreciated???

    Jeff-

How do I get the order of the test for the remote?

    steve

  4. Can't take car there since it won't start :[

Also I overexaggerated I think the shaking, its more like a lot of clicking and the instrument panel is what shakes the most.

So what did it end up being? I just had similar problems and ended up changing the battery first but then the not starting presisted...so I ended up replacing the starter. Its been about a two weeks and seems to ok. Whats your feedback?
