  1. Sorry to take so long but I had the pulling to right problem when I had Michelin Sports put on by Lexus, alignment too. Mines a 2013 Lexus GS350 F-Sport with dynamic steering ( Rear wheels turn up to 2 deg. ) anyway they tried everything, I insisted they get the OEM tires Bridgestone Potenza 050A's mine has 235-40-19 front 265-35-19 rear. they got a set, car is back like NEW no pulling at all. I sold tires in past life, couldn't believe it was the Michelins, IT WAS !

  2. I have an 2006 IS350, I didn't see any mention ( my have missed it ) of the fact that the IS350 engine has both direct injection and manifold injection, under full power it runs on both, at cruise speeds it runs only on direct injection, also at idle the fuel presure is approximately 800 PSI and at highway speeds it's 1800-2000 PSI, there is a pump in the tank that supplies fuel to a pump driven off the rear of the right bank cam shaft with steel fuel supply lines to the direction injectors...

So you see it's not a modification that's possible with out a lot of changes to the total vehicle..

One other thing, Lexus has came out with an intake that is similar to the KNN intake for the IS300, they replace the air tube and lower portion of the air box..

Kind of expensive, $ 455.00 list, take about 30 minutes to install, I have it on mine, sounds great..

    Reply to Knightshade,

What you are saying about the injection isn't what Lexus tech tells me, however when the injection works isn't important to me !!! Yes the intake is the F sport, I didn't pay the price I mentioned, I purchased mine from Lexus for much less, the KNN air filter also fits in the new air box, Lexus claims 5 HP increase due to less restriction with the extra hole that pulls air from behind the headlight, clean airflow & openings that allow more air equals more power, the V-6 tested at 5.3 seconds 0-60 is plenty quick, the IS-F V8 416 HP is 4.6 seconds 0-60, I know the 5.3 is shown on some reports and 5-8 on others...

The one I have has all Lexus offered in the IS-350... I have 31,600 miles so far with no problems...

  4. I have had this happen twice in the last three weeks, I put my foot on the brake an press the start and the engine goes to approx 3000 rpm for just and instant and back to idle, ( I know the gages go full scale every time you start ) this is actually engine winding up, the first time it did it I had put it in gear before it came all the way to idle, it jumped like I had been hit ..

Lexus has no Idea what is going on and asked me to let them know it it continues..

    Thanks George

  5. I have noticed that when I set a speed on my cruise control to hold say 65 mph, I can come to a complete stop and start off again, when I reach 25 mph I can select resume and the cruise will take me back to the speed I set before the stop, I even put the shift in park to see if it made a difference, it didn't.. I contacted a friend that has an IS 350 he purchase a month before me and his does the same..

The owners Manual on page 127 if my old memory serves right, the when the ehicle slows to below 10 mph the preset is canx..

I descovered it by accident.. Actually I like it this way...

Has any one noticed this on theirs..

Speaking of this problem, I think my IS350 MPG is really bad too. I started to pay close attention to my average MPG on the system and it reads less then 18. Also, my range approximator only gives me around 300 at most 320 and that is about how many miles I get (I know this varies but thats about what I get in real miles). I made some calculations myself and if the tank is 17 gallons (if im not wrong) it should show and give a total of 357miles(21*17 this is calculating with city mpg only) for a full tank. I only get around 300 combined with city and freeway.. That is really bad now when I think about it... Tell me what you guys get for total, maybe I am over thinking.

Hi.. I have 20300 miles on my IS350 and the very worst mile per gal is around 20 mpg and as high as 30.3 mpg on the open road at 65-70 mph, I live in the Sacamento valley and use cruise control and air-cond ... I use the top grade at ARCO...Oh yes you mentioned the approximator, it bases it's mileage on the last tank average, mine always shows approx. 2-3 mpg worse than when I figure it gallons into miles driven.. I have kept book on my mpg from the first day..

When you really think about it 306 horse power and the weight any thing over 20 mpg is good... I also have the KNN airfilter installed, the mileage didn't change much from before I changed...

  7. I have a brand new IS350 and have noticed a few problems. This is my first Lexus and I'm somewhat disappointed that I'm already experiencing some rattles and buzzing sounds in the dashboard. It's hard to figure out where exactly but it's the front left and right side.

I've also noticed the notorious problems that BMW used to have with the front wheels turning black. I assume this is break dust. I'm experiencing the same thing. I clean the wheels on the weekend and by Tuesday/Wednesday they are completely black.

Anyone else have similar problems/issues with the IS350?

    thanks

    John,

The brake dust is because of the type of pads the IS has, there is no cure, you also notice the IS has the best brakes of about any car you have ever driven... Expect to not get the mileage on the front brakes as other cars, if I'm not mistaken Lexus says 20,000 miles may be all you will get depending on how you drive..

I have 12,800 miles on mine and the only problem is a little noise that sounds like a diesel on cold mornings when starting off, Lexus says it normal..

    Fantastic vehicle..

  8. I believe it's been discussed here, but the smart key will still work with a dead battery. You just have to hold it close to the start button. Nothing to fear.

It also comes with a metal key that you can use to unlock the door.

BTW: Most of the owners manual is posted in PDF files here:

    http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=25999

As far as I know, the car will tell you the smart key battery is low and it will remind you to replace with a new one on the LCD display on the instrutment cluster. Other way to start the car with low battery key is to get the key close to hte start switch as much as possible since the switch itself is detecting the signal too. I don't think there is a way to by-pass the smart key even with a scanner... I guess.

When you have the battery go dead in the fob you open the door with the metal key that's in the fob per owners manual and that allows you to start the engine normally.. That what I was told anyway by Lexus service..

The brake dust on all vehicles with disk brakes is normal, due to the air flow difference the rear wheels don't show the dust, they just don't get it like the front..

The IS 350 has the same brakes as the bigger GS, Lexus says the front brakes on the IS 350 may not last 20,000 miles, they are high preformance pads... Notice how they bring the car down from any speed with out fade!!! In test drives on the track with outsde air temp over 100 deg no brake fade at all reported..

  10. I too have noticed this. And now I hear a rattling sound from there even when it's not in the morning. I saw in some other forums that it is due to temperature change

My IS 350, with 12,000 miles makes a rattling sound when I start off on cold mornings for approximately one - two minutes, sounds like a diesel, I'm told by my Lexus dealer that they are getting reports of this on the 350 engines in other models, I was told the company is looking into this, as of now they are calling it normal..

  11. Hi,

I finally broke down and bought IS250 Crystal White with Nav, ML, and 18 inch Package. However, this vehicle was bought out of town as there is no Lexus Dealership in my town.

Before I drove back home, I noticed that air in my tires were little low so I filled up to manufacturer specification; 35 on the front and 38 on the back. After driving for more than 400 miles, I realized today that front tire measured 32 and back tires were measured at 34. It this normal after long drive? Or do I have to keep filling air often on these Dunlop tires.

Another question is in regards to Engine noise when idling. There is this ticking tacking sounds when the car idling which seem to be coming from the engine. It is not loud enough for me to freak out but little noisy enough to annoy me a bit. I have been driving Nissan Truck for a long time and maybe this is what I need to get used to.

Any advise or comments are sincerely appreciated.

    Dan

    Dan,

As to the question on tire pressure, set your tire pressure when the tires are cold to the specs, use the same gage each time you check the tires and do it when cold also, tires very approximately 3-5 psi when hot, that also depends the area you operate the vehicle Arizona or Oregon etc.. Note: you should have tire pressure monitoring, if so when you change tire pressure you need to initialize the setting in the computer, the directions are in the owners manual...

The noise you hear when idling is the direct fuel injection, the injectors on the IS 250 are different technology than other vehicles, this is the latest and gives you excellent fuel mileage, the IS 350 has both direct and manifold injection, mine is a IS350 and I hear the same thing... Just turn up that Mark Levinson

system and you will not hear a thing.. haha

  12. Allo Allo,

For all those that took the upgrade and got the ML Sat Nav pack, can I get a show of hands if you are happy with the quality of the sound system?

I am finding the sound lacking in depth and the treble is also lacking even when you have it on full settings.

    What does everyone think?

    :P

    EJ

I have owned several Lexus and other vehicles, the M/L sound system in the IS is the best sound quality you can get in a car, that's for us with normal hearing... It's frequency response is well beyond the normal hearing...

  13. Hi,

i'm brand new to the forum, and i'm going to be getting an IS350 this coming spring. my question is, are there differences between the 2006 and the 2007 version of the 350? the only difference i could see is the option of an X package.

i will be looking for a sport package with navigation. i've never bought new before and would consider it if there are different offerings in the 07 compared to the 06.

    thanks for your help

In reading the other posts they have covered all the differences I know of and I spend a lot of time at Lexus checking on stuff like that.. I have several friends that are employed by Lexus, one is a manager..

Mine is a IS305 with all but the radar cruise and pre-collision..

  14. Have you tinted your is? If so what is the best way to go? brand? non-metallic/metallic?

should i have lexus put on a spoiler for me?

    should i get chrome wheels?

Which order that you should do if you can't do all three?

I have the is250 rwd 2007 black sapphire (that's dark blue color)

    Thanks all :)

I have tinted rear doors, back glass and spoiler, however my personal opinion is that chrome wheels make the Lexus look cheap, look around, you see one with one without the without looks better... I have chrome on my 65 El Camino, they look great... If you get chrome make sure they are the best you can get other wise they get tarnished easier..

  15. Would you rather wash your IS yourself or bring it to the car wash? Have you ever had any bad experience where they damage your car at the car wash and if so, what did you do about it? I am thinking of taking my IS to a car wash but I am afraid that they would inadvertently damage it and I would not be able to do anything about it? Am I insane? Or is there anyone out there that can understand my fear? :)

I have never washed my Lexus, Lexus Of Sacramento and Lexus Of Roseville here in California do courtesy

washes and they detail it too, you can go every day if you like, I go about twice a week in the summer time..

If the car is a Lexus no matter if it was purchased there or not, the Lexus badge is all that's required..

  16. I like to change oil more often but don't want to go to dealer everytime just for oil change. But I can't find the oil filter housing under the hood. Can anyone help?

Look straight down right behind the radiator you will see a metal housing. That contains the oil filter element. You change the element.

You can access the element by going underneath the car in the middle right in front there is an access panel with 3 screws. Take that off and make sure you have the correct type of filter wrench to remove the cap. I bought an adjustable one from pepboys which looks like this:

    http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item.asp?P6...amp;dir=catalog

You can get the original factory lexus one, but why pay $40+ I paid $8.

    Good luck.

I change my oil too and like he says it's under the little door and it helps to have the type wrench that goes over the top of the filter with a 3/8 drive hole in top, the one for Toyota smallest filter fits it perfectly, I purchased a filter from Lexus for just over $3.50 plus tax, they sell normally for $7.00 somehting.. I have a in, haha any way take the filter to most any good parts house and match wrench to the filter.

  17. the lexus brochure states that the top speed for the is 350 is 140 mph, which is electronically limited.

the speedo shows 160 mph. is there an over ride?

If I may ask, Where do you plan on going 160 much less 140 ?:whistles:

there used to be a tme when speedometers never went above 85(early 1980's). the marked speed limit in my area is 70mph, yet we are buying cars with 306 hp. i don't know where i'll go 140,( although there are places out here in the wild west where you can), i just want the capability.

Is it knowing that the car is capable of max speed and not being restricted by the mfg. ?

it's probably my own psychiatrical(sp) querk. i don't like restriction on my personal possesions.

The limint is for engine rpm, thus the speed, I doubt if they care how fast you go the care to warranty an engine thus they don't want you to blow it up.. haha

  18. I find it very difficult to get into my wife's 2007 IS250. She uses seat position 1 and I use position 2. But to move the seat, you need to first put your foot on the brake and then start the car. Does anyone know if there is an override or setting that will move the front drivers seat back every time the car is turned off?

If your car has the three buttons on the door you have seat memory, once you program the key fob you have to lock the car for the memory to position you seat for you.. unlocked it doesn't work..

I have to do it everytime I go to Lexus, all their employees are short and they never lock my car when they bring it out, I simply push my lock button on my fob and when I touch the door handle the sets and mirrors adjust for me..

  19. Sorry for the vague post ... based on my research ... most RWD IS 250s that have NAVI also come with the Premium Package (you have to pay for that package, however) ... but it's how the car is built ... however, I was wondering if anyone had the Mark Levinson stereo, or the Luxury plus package and would recommend it ... because then, I would have to special order the car ...

    Thanks,

    Alex

    Alex,

I have the M/L stereo in my IS350 and after listening to the standard system in a IS 250 loaner I drove my wife and I agreed the loaner stereo sounded muffled.. The M/L has titanium speakers so they are very clear.. I think it's worth the price, and I paid the full price.. haha

  20. is there a way to modify the navigator to allow me to add addresses while driving. any plugs i can unplug to trick it?

I just purchased the 2007 IS250AWD and the Nav bypass does not work as indicated in this users group. Lexus must have made changes from the 2006 to 2007 ... Yikes!

    Thank you,

    Steve

Don't know of anyone that's done it yet, but I'm sure someone will. People came up with ways to bypass on the GS pretty quickly.

This is great that we can enter an address while driving but how about a way to dial a phone number that is not already loaded in the address book or speed dial? I saw there were ways to do it on other models but it does not work for the IS250. This would be a great help. Thank you

I have the M/L and I dial my phone by voice , push the button on the steering wheel for the phone and after the beep say dial by number, the voice responds after brief delay to reset system then push the voice sw again and say the number, she will repeat number and it's also desplayed in nav screen and you can make the call..

  21. I have had K&N Typhoon kit on three IS300, extra 8 hp and average 3 mpg better, K&N makes a kit for the IS350 however it is not CARB ( California Air Resources Board ) legal yet... I takes a while for them to get them approved..

Note: The IS350 really doesn't need more performance, mine doesn't .. HA HA

    George

  22. For those of you that are having the tire pressure warning, when the weather gets cold to where the warning is going off, initialize the system again for the cold temp, the owners manual has the procedure for doing the reset.. I believe the warning comes on at approximately 3 psi from the initial setting... Or as one said have the air replaced with nitrogen, pressure remains the same cold or hot... Costco putts it in tires they install tires.
