  1. You can get a color matched OEM spoiler on ebay for around $170 w/ shipping. Try they seller "Park Place Lexus" theyre pretty legit since theyre a real dealer.

As for installation it cant be hard if you have instructions.

Be very careful you drill the holes in the right places and you seal them well.

I installed a few spoilers on hondas and it was cake. I never had any experience doing car work, just some basic skills with tools.

To be honest I think the OEM IS spoiler looks pretty !Removed!, which is why i didnt get it.

Has anyone seen decent aftermarket ones?

How about some ridiculous whale tail? Or wait, let's junk up the car with some 20" chrome spinners. Even better, let's put an aftermarket exhaust system that makes it sound like a mountain lion choking on a piece of meat.

Hmmmm...i don't remeber suggesting any of that.

There actually are some decent aftermarket parts, and a whole lot more junk.

  2. BTW dont EVER pay a destination charge w/ lexus. A good dealer wont even bother to try and slip it in.

Destination charges are set by the manufacturer and are not negotiable. What you don't need to pay for are "document" or "dealer prep" fees. Dealer added extras also are not part of the equation. The $599 for XM radio was your destination charge by the way. You could have installed it for about $300 less.

So when it was all said and done the final price...

$34,100 ( saving of almost $5k, MSRP on the sticker was $39,072, a few hundred UNDER invoice )

    plus $599 for XM

Out the door w/ taxes $37,127.

All with a 5.69% loan december to remember promo (average right now is 6.5-7%)

If you do some work before you get to the dealer and find one that will give you a definate price over the phone your set. When you submit quote online the dealers KNOW that they have to compete on price for your business. Best thing I ever could have done.

You paid almost 9% in taxes? Last time I checked New Jersey was only 7%.

You have to pay plate and title fees around 400 in NJ. And Xm costs over 400 just for the unit. I addded that in last minute, after they told me no destination charge.

Either way I still got a GREAT deal, 5k off MSRP. They have to make a small profit.

  3. I've been using midgrade since I purchased my IS250. I wouldn't drop to regular, because there may be some pinging or knocking that you don't hear. Any of that nonsense could result in damage to your engine which is not worth the savings.

But to mid-grade? Not sure that it's a bad option. I ran midgrade on my SC300, and it now has 210K on it.

Hmmmm Hey, what's a couple of octane points here or there?

On the other hand, look at the economics. Premium costs $.10 per gallon more than mid-grade. You put 20,000 miles on your car every year. You get roughly 22 miles per gallon. That means that you are using 909 gallons per year. Using a Mid-Grade will save you $90 per year. I'm all for saving a couple of bucks, but if it really made a difference in the way the car performed, I wouldn't do it.

Wow I never looked at it that way. I'd rather spend the extra $50 or so and feel secure.

  4. The dealer should have a list of personalized settings. The beep volume is on of those. You might want to look at the list and see if there are any others you want changed and get it all done during the one free settings change. They should have a little programmer to take care of all that.

I dont know why this isnt something I can do myself, through hidden menus or such. Anyway to find out?

  5. I just was checkn prices in NJ. They want over $750 to put it on. Its a few peices of plastic! Is it even worth it?

Has anyone put it on themselves?

It seems likes it would be just like tint, maybe harder.

Dont get me wrong, I am far from cheap when it comes to my car. But how does one justify spending over $700 on some cling wrap?

I just don't see the benefits, maybe you can help me out here.

  6. Does anyone know how to increase the volume of the beep when you lock?

Mine is so quiet I can barely hear it.

I like being able to hear if from across the parking lot to make sure its locked up.

The dealer is finding out for me hopefully tomorrow if this can be done. I remeber hearing about it, but most likely theyre gonna tell me to drive it all the way to their service center to get it looked at.

It cant be that hard. Older lexus's had a volume knob near the gas pedal, but now its in some hidden menu.

  8. I have been looking around for a custom sub box.

Thunderforms and QLogic are the main guys and neither of them do lexus. WTF?

Anyone know why or a company that does?

I am thinking about having a guy here build something for me, but Id rather go with something professionally designed over "homemade."

Anyone have pics of custom audio work?

  9. I just picked up my AWD 2007 IS250 w/ NAV and XM last friday. (12/15/06)

I submitted for bunch of price quotes online and had about 6 dealers call me. I then went to a few sites and found a rough range for the invoice price. You can never find the exact numbers since every dealer, depending on voume pays a slightly different price.

I finally had 2 dealers that were competing for my business and kept lowering each others prices, keep in mind they were both high volume dealers. The smaller guys quoted me a full 2k+ higher and told me they couldn't match. I started it off by calling and saying I got a quote for a IS250 w/ Nav for 34,600. And then it gradually came down. The dealers pay about 34,296 a car and get some rebates if they sell alot.

I told the one dealer i would do it for $34,100 AWD w/ NAV in the black w/ sterling and got XM installed on top of that for an extra 599. They originally quoted me 899 for xm. I told them i would pick up the car tomorrow and got the final price w/ tax before i even got there so I didnt have to deal with their BS.

So when it was all said and done the final price...

$34,100 ( saving of almost $5k, MSRP on the sticker was $39,072, a few hundred UNDER invoice )

So basically got an IS for around the same as a fully loaded Camry or Accord.

BTW dont EVER pay a destination charge w/ lexus. A good dealer wont even bother to try and slip it in.

  10. My salesman told me not to waste money on premium. He said mid-grade was perfectly fine, and he was very knowledgeable so I trust he knows that it work since its one of the biggest dealers in the east.

I just got my IS last week. I plan to rotate w/ a little premium every so often.

Has anyone had problems with mid-range?

Could there be any longterm effects/damage with this grade?

  11. I just got my IS250 last week, and got them to throw in the XM. I was hoping there was some mod to swtich between XM and sirius using my Nav screen and a new tuner. From what ive been told the sharkfin antenna cannot be used to sirius, different technology (who knows).

Has anyone gotten sirius installed and without adding a tacky aftermarket setup?
