The OEM wood trim is genuine wood. It looks and feels like plastic because it has a thick coating. The RX300 had it on the switch plates on the doors and around the radio. If its anywhere else like around the vents its probably a plastic aftermarket kit.

check your transmission fluid, pull the dip stick out and see if it smells burnt. Also check its color on a white cloth, should be deep red, if it is black you are in trouble.

fluid is nice and red. could it be the serpentine belt?

I have noticed a whistle/whine when below 40MPH; anyone have a similar experience?
