Lexus dont make that many sport package period. You may need to special order it.

And have a 3-4 month wait. Unless the dealer can locate a GX with the KDSS package before it gets to an assigned dealer and swap it. Worth a try.

You guys are right, I could not find a GX in NY/NJ with sports package and finally settled with one without it.

I am picking my truck on saturday. $49K (excluding taxes,title) even for 08 with nav & mark levinson, third row, rear seat entertainment, rear spoiler, lexus link, preferred accessory package and tow hitch without ball mount.

May I ask you all some tips for handling the final pickup process (like what to look for, etc). I appreciate all responses. Thanks

Thank you all. I am not finding that many 07s in NY/NJ area. Whatever I found, the quote for them is well above invoice. I want to get the sports package because I really like that black wood that comes with it but every dealer in this region are saying that Lexus is not making GX with sports package. Is this true? Any place/dealer that you can think of where I can find this option? Thanks.

I live in NYC area and I am in the process of comparing quotes from multiple dealers for 07 and 08 models and looking for quick help on following items. I appreciate your feedback.

1. Manufacturer of Tires - My understanding is GX comes with Michelin Tires but what I see here @ Ray Catena/Weschester is Dunlop and Bridgestone. Some trucks have Dunlop while others have Bridgestone. This is the case for 07 leftovers and on all 08s as well. The questions is, should I insist for Michelin or these tires equally good?

2. Hand Rest for Driver/Passenger Seat - During my test drive, I did not see a way to adjust the height of hand rests. I was able to change their angle but could not adjust their hieght. Is it possible to adjust their height? I felt them little too high for me.

3. For 08s, dealers are quoting $1500 over invoice. What should I negotiate for? They are quoting same or higher price for 07s due to their higher msrp/invoice price. I was offering 2k below invoice for 07s but no luck so far.

Just got a Blizzard 2008 GX470--- love it, almost as much as my 2004 LS---

Best new feature (besides the free rear air upgrade)---Nav system has a splash screen with the standard warning that comes on for a few seconds, then disappears!!!!!--- no more nag screen! Woot!

I am considering 2008 as well. Did you see any other new changes?. Their web site is useless. I heard about changes to tail lights.

Thanks. When you were shopping around, did you find vehicles with sports package or just KDSS? What do you think about KDSS? I am waiting for 2008 model. While waiting for it, I am doing my research. I appreciate any other tips like dealing with the dealer.

Which year GX did you buy?

We just traded my wife's Volvo V70 for a GX470 to accomodate our growing family and I wanted to post my first impressions. To begin with, the fit and finish on the GX470 are a couple of notches above the V70 (and even a Volvo XC90 that we test drove). The engine is buttery smooth and the power/torque more than enough for our needs. The ride is smoother than the Volvo, but less confidence inspiring at speeds approaching 80 mph, or even at lower speeds on bumpy roads or windy days (and I thought my wife's Volvo handled like a dog compared to my BMW M5). This is not a problem, since the reason for purchasing this vehicle is not to drive fast or to carve up corners, but to comfortably transport a truck-load of people (Ha!).

The ride on long drives is extremly comfortable, which makes this a terrific cruiser with a load of 6 passengers. The navigation interface is much better than my 2006 M5 and all 6 CDs slots can play MP3s unlike my M5 which has a 1+6 CD configuration with only the in-dash player having MP3 capability. Bluetooth connectivity and address book download from my wife's BB worked flawlessly, but the crippled phone/nav functions while the vehicle is in motion are disapointing, to say the least.

Overall, very satisfying compared to compromised solutions (e.g., BMW X5 - sport vs. reliability/comfort or Volvo XC90 - safety vs. reliability/sport/comfort or Land Rover LR3 - image vs. reliability/comfort). In many ways, this is philosophically like my M5. The M5 is uncompromising in its performance, while the GX70 is uncompromising in the comfort with which we can schlep our clan.

Also considering new X5 but so far analysis suggests it is a piece of junk with several reliablity problems.

I am considering of buying 2007 GX but I am not sure if it makes sense to wait another 4 to 6 months to get better price. Time is not a constraint here as there is no urgency.

I have seen in some of the posts that some people got their 2006 model for invoice price. I would like to get similar kind of deal for 2007 because I don't have an immediate need.

The question is, do I have to wait until 2008s arrive to meet my expectation or early drop in price is a possibility.

Any help on this is appreciated.
