  1. Crap this sucks, now I need a new bumper.

Anyone know where I can grab one cheep, I am about to check ebay

It is not a huge deal since I was about to get the car repainted anyway, still sucks though...

I was driving out in the dunes late at night and I see like 4 deer going across the road a little ways away, I hit my breaks (it is snowing, and not plowed) and I hit one of the deer in the butt going about 25, maybe 30, the deer did a 180 in the air and fell into some bushes. I came to a stop and checked out the damage, then went back to see if I had killed the deer or not.

There was not a trace so I geuss it got away, but I am sure it has a broken hip or leg or something.

I will post pictures when it is light outside

Anyone else here ever hit a deer?

  2. This is all from memory, but here it goes. Remove cup holder assy., then put shifter in neutral and slide down the plastic collar on the shift knob to reveal two hidden screws, remove shift knob, then remove the shifter trim panel (black plate that indicates p-r-n-d-....) its held in only by clips, detach the wire harnesses that are connected to that shifter trim panel, then remove all the screws for the shifter trim surround panel (This is the one that surrounds the climate control unit and the radio.) Once that trim panel is removed you will have access to the screws that hold the radio brackets. Everything is easy from that point.

sweet got it done, thxs a lot

  3. My brake light on my '92 intermittedly comes on...I've noted that sometimes it lights up after

I let up on the pedal when accelerating under normal driving. But sometimes it lights up when I gently accelerate. I've checked brake fluid level and it's OK....nothing seems to be blocking the screen.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance

um, okay I was not aware there was a different break light the red light that says "break" is your ebreak light. Not sure what your talking about

you mean the Emergency break light?

I am guessing that your Ebreak is loose (just from use) and needs to be tightened

I dismantled and adjusted my ebreak some months ago and figured out how that part of an SC400 works. It is really simple.

Basically the break line can be tightened or loosened via a set of two bolts (just like a bicycle)

There are two larg bolts that you need to loosen (won't come all the way off)

First- Pull off the leather cover (this will expose a the metal frame of your ebreak) It should just slide out over the handle

Second- Loosen (they are in there tight) the two large bolts it will get easy to do then hard again, when it gets hard again stop.

Third- The break will be loose, just tilt it in towards your seat and tighten the nuts on the end of the cable It is in a kinda awkward place but you can get it tight enough that there should be tension all the way down, remember you don’t want to tighten it too much or your rear breaks will always be on =p

The othe more getto solution it the following. When you lift the Ebreak a button is, "unpushed" and the light turns on. Just stick a piece of electric tape over it to hold it down and you will never see that light turn on.

You still have to take apart your ebreak to do this though so you might as well tighten it anyway.

    Good luck, hope this helps

  5. I'm wondering how difficult is it to swap the front end bumpers out? I own a 98' SC400 with the 97'-00' "sweeper" skirt as I call it and that ugly looking front end grille. I want to try and switch it out with the original rounded design (92' - 94' design). Here are some pics if you don't know what I'm talking about

    1992-2000-Lexus-SC-300-400-98806041990419.JPG

    This is my design

    1992-2000-Lexus-SC-300-400-94806041990001.JPG

And this is the design I want to put on (though it would be the SC300's version without the black strip on the bottom)

I love the original design much better than the one I have now. So is it very difficult to switch? Would it stick out like a soar thumb on the 97-00 design since the side skirts and tail bumper are different too? Any advise you can give me would be greatly appreciated before I waste several hundred dollars buying the new front on eBay.

I can't imagine it looking bad

Is there anything wrong with you current bumper? I need a new front bumper, a VW bumped me in a parking lot and I don't thing the other version looks bad at all, I have the version you want.

  6. Lexusalex - That's a really good dyno for a 1993...You must have done a really good intake mod and ECU tune...207rwhp is very impressive on an older SC, without headers too....Headers and deleted down cats should bring you another 10whp or so....Get a torque converter and your cars 0-60mph times will greatly increase also....

That's one strong 93 you got, good job... ;)

I am on a bit of a budget right now, but I would like to really start Moding my car, I can get the money for just about anything I need it just might take a month or two of starvation =p

The first thing I was going to do was replace my exhaust manifold, and Mufflers and add a cold air intake.

Later I want to add a single turbo and nitros system but I want to get as much real power out of the car as possible first.

Are there any other changes I should consider doing before I begin working on getting a turbo in my car?

I have a 1993 SC400 right now I have done almost nothing to it aside from some lightening and straight through exhaust

Also I know nothng about ECUs, I just have never used or done anything in the computer area, is that something I should really consider?

You should maybe consider a "Piggy back ECU" maybe an Apexi SAFC piggy back ECU unit...This increases the air and fuel mixture that is being delivered to the motor..It is easily wired up to the stock ECU then you can fine tune the engines air/fuel mix and flow.....This Piggy-back ECU further advances the capabilities of the limited stock ECU...Gains in the 10-15hp range should be expected.....

I would do exhaust ,headers, intake and do ecu or S-afc after since it would be adjusted according to new air flow resulting from those mods. I know i noticed a big improvent just from a BFI intake and Exhaust.

Geuss I will do that, I will keep you guy updated with the impovments I see

  8. they did it when they poped in a 3uzfe in to an is200 in the uk.

for a more reasonable solution you can try to see if a toyota truck trans will bolt up. but only if the tundra came with a manual trans becasue i believe they may have used the same block.

yeah, i heard about people using tundra trannings it is something to consider

  9. I have an SC400 1993 I have been doing some mods to it and one of my biggest complaints is the automatic transmisionI would love to get a 5 speed manual in my car. I can live with the auto transsmision, but like I said, I would like a Manual a lot.

Has anyone done this? how hard of a mod is this? Most of what I have seen/read seems to say that the change would be near imposible without a lot of fabing, which I such at.
