  1. It does not stay closed because junk is blocking it.

    You need to remove /clean and grease it.

    It is easy and uses just a flat head screwdriver and a Phillips ,both located in your Lexus tool kit.

    Put the car in neutral or 4/d , engine off.

    Close the cup holder as much as possible ( use a helper to keep it closed in the other seat).

    Open the lower armrest then place the flat screwdriver and lift up on the wood close to the cup holder on the vinyl. Do both side of the wood to pop up. The lift the wood and pull towards the rear of the car to release the other 2 clips by the ashtray. Move it to the side to expose the underneath.

    Here is where you want to have a vacuum and Windex as it will be dirty under there.

    Undo the 4 Phillips screws and lift up the cup holder . Clean it and remove the junk blocking it.

    Luckily you asked today so it is fresh in my mind.

    I just did my friends car today and it had some unspeakable things in there including a Bluetooth earpiece he lost.

    Does anyone know if this procedure is the same, or similar, on the 2003 LS 430?

  2. OEM keys break because the stress of turning the key is focussed on the on tiny little screw that holds the two parts together.

    The aftermakets usually are designed to correct this.

    The colored ones i don't know about.

    They are all easy enough to find on eBay.

    Getting them cut, however, can prove to be expensive.

    If you ask around town, you can usually find someone besides the dealer.

    Good luck

    Is it necessary to get these cut? Can't I just take the blade out of the old shell and put it in the new one (with the electronics from the old shell)?

  3. :cries: I tried this with my wife's "new to us" '04 LS430, but couldn't follow the directions, as there is no [iNFO] key (that I can find)on the system. Can you guide me?

    Thanks.

    I have been able to successfully use the Navigation Motion Lock-Out Override in my 2003 LS430. I had to try a few differnt methods, but I am now able to do it almost 100% of the time, whether I (or my passenger) attempt the override while the car is moving or not. Here is the sequence I used:

    1. Press [iNFO] Button;

    2. Press "Language" (this should bring you to the main screen..."English..French..I Agree";

    3. Press Upper Left Corner;

    4. Press Lower Left Corner;

    5. Press Upper Left Corner;

    6. Press Lower Left Corner;

    7. Press Lower Right Corner;

    8. Press and *HOLD* (for 5 to 10 seconds) the "Override" button until it beeps and changes color;

    9. Press [iNFO] Button;

    10. Press "Language";

    11. Press "I Agree".

    That does it.

    Again, your passenger can do this override while the car is moving, too!

    Of course, you have to repeat this each time you turn the car off and on again, with one caveat: When the "English..French..I Agree" screen comes up when you turn on the car, you can start at step 3 above.

    Oops. I got it a little wrong. First you hit the [Option] button, then [information] (aka [info]).

  4. I purchased a 2001 LS430 a few months ago. I cannot get the driver/passenger cupholder on the middle console to stay shut. Everytime you push it in it wants to pop back out. Any suggestions. I'm hoping it's not part of the entire middle console and you'd have to replace the console itself. Thanks.

    In my 2003, the cup holder is pretty sensitive, popping back out about 1/3rd of the time. Try pressing harder, softer, more to the left, more to the right, etc.

    Good luck.

  6. I bought the offering from ProClip and am very happy with it. The location is good, the angle is good (with the adjustable set) and, with the car charger option, I only need to plug in the headset and drop the phone into the unit and I am ready to go.

    With all the bluetooth phones etc., I do not expect there to be a unit with a built-in headset plug, so I think I have found my solution.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

  7. How about a Kuda "Charging Cradle for TREO 650" mounted on a Kuda leather phone base designed for the LS430 and available in six colors to match your interior?

    I love the Kuda phonebase in my 00 LS400 but the one for the LS430 is, for my taste, mounted in a lower and less useful position.

    Add a handfree Bluetooth car kit connected to auto mute your radio during a call and I think you will be a happy camper.

    Thanks for the suggestion. I agree that the base for the 430 is not at a great angle. Also, I know it sounds crazy, but I prefer wired headsets over the bluetooth ones. I am currently leaning towards the ProClip solutions. I also was looking at some of the solutions from Seidio, but I do not think that they have what I am looking for.

    Any others that people would recommend?
