I purchased a 2007 Lexus Rx 350 for my wife at the Jacksonville Lexus Dealership in Florida. Due to the options we requested, they had to order the vehicle. We were told it would take appox 1 month but it took almost 2 months for arrival. When the vehicle arrived, we were not contacted and it sat on the lot being test driven as a regular vehicle. It was not until I showed up at the dealership that I accidently discovered it was my wife's vehicle sitting on the lot. The vehicle was very dirty with dirt all over the floor and pen marks on the driver seat. Additionally, when the technicians installed the satelite radio, they cut a large piece of the dash board.

Through it all, we weren't happy but we worked with the dealership. Unfortunately, they have not worked with us. Upon delivery, we had a large amount of condensation inside the front headlights. We brought this up to the sevice advisor and they only changed the passenger side head light. They did not change the driver side for unknown reasons. As such, eveytime I'm at the dealership for service I would bring up the issue with the water condensation on the driver side. The service advisor said it was normal even though I insisted it seemed quite a bit of water condensation. He went into a great detail of how the headlight unit has a hole that will elimate the water and it is "NORMAL." Since we were not familair with how the headlights function and believe/trusted the service advisor. He did not notate this and proceeded to take care of our other service needs. This convesation occured nearly everytime we visited the dealership and not once did the advisor took a look at it before telling us it was normal. No matter how much we insisted he insisted further that it was normal. At about 42,000 miles, we went back to purchase an extended warranty; again we brought up the fact the car had an unusual amount of water in the headlights, we were again told it was normal. It wasn't until at 57,000 miles that I happend to be close to the dealership that I dropped in to show the service advisor the large amount of condensation on the headlight from rain 4 days ago. He realized at that point what I was trying to convey to him and he acknowledge I had brought this to his attention many times before and would try to take care of the issue for us by contacting Lexus Corp.

As you would have guessed, he did return any phone calls to me even after I left many messages. I had to go the dealership to speak with him. He told me to call Lexus Corp. Lexus Corp initially took my report and my request to have the driver headlight replaced as a "courtesy" because this has been an issue from the begining of our purchase. We have witnesses and even the service advisor admitted we brought this to his attention many times. It was his failure to recognize the significance of the problem and did not address the issue before giving us his speech of how it was normal. Unfortunately we were very disappointed with Lexus Corp.; they too, did not return a single phone call and we had to call numerous times before we finally received an answer of denial secondary to not reporting the issue during warranty. We tried refuting and said they would investigate further and call us back but in the end, we never heard back from them.

I would like the Lexus forum members for advice on what do or any suggestions, as the repair will cost $2300.00. I beleive it is the principle, as we did everything we possible could to report the issue when the vehicle was under the service warranty. I feel the only option now is to obtain a attorney or notify a news channel to help us. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

We just had it done. Took about 4 hours. We did not get any notice. I had to call the dealership to confirm our vehicle was eligible for the recall.

It seems odd that a car this new would have this issue unless some kind of event happened. Did you get a car fax report when you purchased the RX? I would check to see if it was in an accident.

I would advise to take it to a reputable mechanic/shop for an alignment. We weren't so lucky. We took it to our local place called Tire Kingdom and they did a very poor job at aligning our Rx350. We also had a few deep indentations or dimples on the wood portion of the lower right steering wheel where they put an anchor to keep the steering wheel straight. Our alignment was also completely off because they installed tires on the alignment rack and lowered the vehicle back down immediately to align the vehicle. Because the tires were up in the air and lowered onto the alignment rack, the tires were not in its normal posture causing a false reading for the alignment system. Needless to say, we took it to another shop to finally align our vehicle properly. Good luck.

My wife's 2007 350 Rx has finally hit 70,000 miles. I would like to change the brake disc and pads. I've never done it before but have heard that it is really not very hard with the right tools. I'm considering rotors from Rotara, or a company that makes drilled/slotted disc from rotorworks with Posi quiet brake pads. Does anyone in this forum have a DIY PDF for changing the brakes and transmission oil filter for this vehicle? Any help and/or advice would be greatly appreciated.

What size oil filter wrench is needed to remove the end cap of the oil filter (how many millimeters and number of flutes)?

Where can I get an oil filter wrench that fits the RX350?

Is the oil filter location under the plastic access panel on the passenger front of vehicle?

I have about 4,600 miles on my 08 RX 350. Today the 'Maintenance Required' light started flashing when I started it up, and then went off after a few seconds. Is this just reminding me that my 5K maintenance is coming up soon, or could this be something more serious?

Is this feature designed to come on at or near the 5K mile intervals as a reminder to take the vehicle in for regularly scheduled maintenance?

Most likely, you need to change your oil. I believe the first 5000 mile oil change is free.

What is the best tire pressure for the Michelin tires? The owners manual recommends 30psi, which seems low. When I checked my tires recently, they registered 36psi.

36 may be high, sometimes when you buy a new car during transport, they usually overinflate the tires to prevent a flat spot on the tire during the transport process. When it arrives at the dealership, the service dept is responsible for re-adjusting the tire pressure, but they sometimes forget or are not aware of it. I usually keep my tires approximately 33 psi. You can check your manual for more info.

can anyone provide a step-by-sep instructions including pictures if available how to change oil and oilf filter for rx 350... what tools will i need for the job? thanks...

It's really easy. Although I don't have pics here is what I recommend:

1. Purchase the oil filter from the dealer. BION, it is actually cheaper than 3rd party part stores. It comes with an oil filter, gasket for oil filter cap, gasket for small oil filter cap, small plastic oil drain valve, and metal gasket for drain plug.

2. Also purchase a 16mm cap to remove the oil filter cap. If the parts department does not have it, ask to speak to a service technician, they can show you what it looks like as well as show the part # for the parts person to order it for you.

Oil change process:

1. I use mobil 1 synthetic 5/30

2. Loosen oil drain plug to drain oil from bottom of car

3. Toward the right bottom front of the care, remove 2 screws to reveal the oil filter cap.

4. Remove the coin like screw and now use a good amount of force to insert the clearish plastic oil drain valve (from the oil filter box) into the hole in order to drain the excess oil from the cap. There is directions in the oil filter box.

5. After the oil drains out, take the 16mm cap to remove the filter cap.

Note: you can skip step 4, but you will have some oil leaking all over the bottom of the car.

6. The rest should be pretty easy to put back together.

My new '08 RX350 speedo is off by 4 mph at 60 mph..... based on my GPS. I wonder if the 18" wheels/tires are a different diameter. Anyone else have an issue or dealer resolution ? What I dont like is it also racks up more miles than actually traveled (falsly making MPG look better than it is but hurting my miles on future resale)

I agree. Our 2007 Rx 350 is about 3 to 4 miles slower than what is registered on the Lexus speedometer. We have varified this whenever we pass those speed display detectors on the freeway, following my wife in my MB while on the phone with her to confirm our speed, as well as with our portable GPS.

I'm not familiar with other brands, but I have been told that if you want a good brand tint, pick either Lumar or 3M. As for the percent that will exactly match the rear, I'm not familiar as to what will match it.

I just had the car tinted this weekend. After much research, I found Llumar Formula 1 Comfort series 15% to be a very close match to the factory rear tint. The car looks great with the tint. Only have to be a little more judicious when we drive at night since the 15% tint cuts down on what we can see at night, especially in poorly lite roads. We also tinted the front windshield with a 75% UV blocker. All in all, we really like it, it made driving in the Florida sun much more enjoyable.

I just purchased a 2008 RX350 for the wife. And we hear a rattling at the front right aswell. Took it to the dealership, they tested another 2008 and it had the same issue. They've opened a ticket with Lexus

We occasionally have a rattle somewhere in the rear cargo area. It was not the cargo cover as we checked that already. Rattle occurs when the vehicle is driven on rough pavement.

Would like to know any suggestions for the type/brand of tint that best matches the factory tint on the car for the front side windows. Currently considering Huper Optik tint but it does not match the factory tint.

Put these on our 400h. They would be just as great on your 350.

There are so many things I like about my Lexus; however, the ride is very bouncy, particularly on the interstate. If the road has an uneven surface, it begins to bounce and it bounces like a bus ride. I've even had to apologize to passengers as they ride in my new car, passing if off as the road; however, I've driven this road for many years in various vehicles and have never experienced such a problem. My husband's 2007 GMC Envoy goes over the same road and the car is very smooth. I've asked the dealer to look at it, and they say everything is okay--tires, springs, whatever. I swear I didn't notice it until they rotated the tires at 5000 miles. Others say it is just a Lexus and its design, but I can't imagine this car being so highly rated and having such a bounce at highway speeds. This is my first Lexus [previous Mercedes, Seville, etc.] so is this what I should expect? Thanks

Funny, after about 5000 miles in our AWD RX 350, we noticed a strange jerky motion even on very smooth pavements. Regardless of speed, it seems to sort of dip and rise on smooth surfaces. We will make an appointment soon with the dealer to have this looked at. The pressure on the tires are 30 psi in all the tires. Anyone else have similar ride qualities.

I was going to say that that $44146. price sounds like a 2007 sticker price (that's what mine was) and I thought the 08's were a little higher. I was going to say that if you go with that one be sure it's an 08.

Anyway, I really love mine. It's an 07 but it's less than a month old.

We paid $47500.00 out the door. It was a AWD RX 350 with Premium/Nav/towing prep package, entertainment system, wheel locks, xenon lights. Hope it helps.

Can anyone tell me what they are getting for actual fuel milage on a 07 or 08 RX350 2WD ? I don't want computer milage just actual fill to fill as these friggan commputers make it look rosie. I am going to be replacing my GX470 which is around 13 (yes a real pig on fuel).TIA RK

So far I'm getting around 18-19 MPG in suburban (granny) driving, and 27 in straight highway driving at 70-75 miles per hour. I found the computer is consistently 1.2 - 1.5 mpg higher than the actual mpg.

In any case, probably way better than the GX470!

After 5000 miles with our AWD RX 350, we typically get between 20 to 21 mpg overall. During long highway drives on cruise control at 75 mph, we average around 25 mpg. Hope it helps.

Trying to decide which would be better. I like having a screen mounted in the back of the headrest but the screen will not be as large as the stock system mounted by the factory located on the ceiling of the vehicle. Anyone have comments. Thanks.

I paid 41,250 for premium plus package + nav but I had them throw in the tow hitch and change the tires to Bridgestone Alenza's. I Just picked it up and I LOVE IT!!!!!! What a difference from the rx300. The pick up, turning radius + all the electronics. I can't imagine a better car on the road!!!!

Paid $47500.00 OTD with NAV/Mark lev pkg, AWD, DVD entertainment, 18 in wheels.
