  1. i know i own something special, i dunno about what you think about yours but thats your call. and there's nothing that i said that wasn't mature... YOU were the one being immature and for the record, seeing how you responded, I don't need your respect.. thanks.

Really, how special is a 14 year old Lexus with $1000 rims on it?

Oh my everyone look at the Holy Grail of vehicle perfection roll by.....it's a 94 LS400 with chrizome dubs. Yeah I bet he's a drug dealer, or bought his car from one. Wow, I soooo look up to that guy! I only wish one day I can have half the car that guy has!

It's not that I don't like your car. I've already stated that I thought it would be pretty clean if it was lowered a bit, however the fact that you seem to think that it was cool that you bought it from a drug dealer, and seem to think that your car is the hottest stuff around repeatedly irritates me. I never said your car sucked, or that mine was better than yours, yet you feel the need to put mine down to prove how much better your's is. Guess what, my car looks the way it does because I made it that way. From the new paint, which all of the work was done by me, to the interior color which I changed completely again all on my own, to the choice of rims I have on my car, to all of the mechanical repairs that needed to be done to it. And I still have four grand less into mine than you do into yours. How is your's so much better? Because you bought it that way. Way to go. Congratulations! You managed to do what millions of people do. You bought a car! How special and unique. Or wait, I forgot. The fact that you bought it from a dope dealer made it special! Way to go! You really deserve the "extra mile award" for that one!

  2. thanks for the sarcasm, guarantee it would roast your es

That's funny, not once did I mention my car was better than yours.....

Let's not turn this into a p!ssing contest. Theres always something out there bigger and better, so lets both not act like we own anything special. Maybe if you came on here acting a little more mature you would have received a little more respect.

I actually think that the car would look pretty clean if it was lowered a bit.

  3. I feel like such a baller in it, or even talking about it hehe

Well of course you should feel like a baller in it. Being able to buy a 14 year old Lexus is a monetary hurdle.

I bought it from a coke dealer lol

Wow! Really! A coke dealer! No ways, Lolzers!!!!11!!11!!!!!1!!!1

  4. I will have to post pictures soon of the interior i just got through putting in last weekend. It was the ugly brown/tan and was pretty tore up so I picked up a complete black leather interior in near-new (no tears, no stains, no wear) condition minus the dash.....Changed my mind on the BMW though. I would still like to get one eventually, but i saw an '04 Truimph Daytona 955I for sale and am dead-set on getting it. It's a shame since I am growing a little attached to the car after all of the hard work put into it. Well as soon as I can diagnose a couple of problems(CEL 171 and 1705 to get rid of the CEL,) replace the power steering pump with a new one instead of a used one,and dye the dash she's getting put up for sale. I',hoping to get between $4K and $5K. Well pics of the interior up as soon as I can.

Thanks for the comments! It always feels good to have someone step back and appreciate your hard work.

  5. Haven't seen very many es300 pics,so here you guys go...pics of my 94 es before I get rid of it.I plan on getting an E46 BMW. I just repainted it with help from my dad about 3 weeks ago, so it's missing the front grille. Still need to finish prepping it. And I am in the middle of painting all of the window trim black because the last person who owned it painted it white and they did a a *BLEEP*ty job masking.

Bought this car for $500 not running about 8months ago.Since I have replaced 02 sensors, Rack and pinion, CPS sensor, crankshaft timing gear, power steering pump, front lower ball joints, and the exhaust as it had a dual exhaust set-up with straight thru mufflers that were louder than crap. Now its mechanically sound. I will be replacing the seats in a few weeks and selling it. Hopefully I'll make enough to put a decent down payment on a nice BMW.....

  6. I also have a 1993 ES 300. I have a whirring sound in my engine. The Lexus dealer indicated that its the Hydraulic Fan Motor. The cost to replace is: "THE HYDRAULIC FAN MOTOR WILL COST $746.00 PARTS AND LABOR THE PART COST IS 501.56 AND IS A SPECIAL ORDER PREPAID PART."

Is that comparable to what you paid to replace your Hydraulic Fan Motor?

Parts and labor are always high at the dealer......Order the part and do it yourself. Do it on a day off and basically make the $500 they want in labor by doing it yourself. Look around, you might be able to get the fan cheaper if you order it through another dealer. I used to order all of my OEM Honda from across the country because it was still cheaper to buy them from another dealer than ship them to me instead of buying from the local dealer.

  7. 22, have had the 94 es300 for > a year. The only reason I bought it was because I got it cheap @ $500 not running. It's almost re-painted and I will be going out of town to pick up a new interior for it soon. After less than $1500 In repairs (all repairs are being done by me. My family owns a body shop so that takes care of the paint) I will be selling it in favor of another Acura or e46 BMW. The Lexus is nice, but not sporty enough for me. I do all of my mechanical repairs, so the reliability issues (which isn't too terrible) with the BMW's does not scare me.... Call my E46 a chick's car all you want I don't care....I'll have a BMW...I win!

  8. It just so happens that the security lug nuts are NOT manufactured by Lexus, but by McGard! You would really appreciate them after a thief tried to steal your beautiful alloy wheels and tires. B)

I agree! The fact that everyone does not have a key is definately a good thing! I don't have any experience with these because my Lexus did not come with them, but they are as reliable as a regular lug nut in the sense that it keeps the wheel on. Obviously there is an issue with the design of the lock if there have been multiple issues with it though.

  9. Alright, so I've come to the decision that I'm not going to have my ES repaired (serious transmission troubles), and I'm going to get a new[er] car.

I've narrowed down the coices to: a 2001 Jaguar S-Type

    -2001 GS 300

    -any 2001 Mercedes C-Class

    -2000-2004 BMW 3 Series

-any year IS 300, up to 2005

Any experience or knowledge about any of these cars would prove to be very heplful!

Be careful with the early model E46's. They were known for having the rear subframe tear on them. Go over to bimmerforumsDOTcom and do a little research. They have pictures of what to look for and a few threads on what it cost people to repair them. Apparently there was an issue with the construction of the rear subframe and BMW in every other country will fix it for free. Unfortunately not very many people have had any luck with getting BMW America to fix it.......That's not to say that they haven't fixed some of the cases here though.

IIRC BMW did fix the issue after ~ 2002.

  10. I am new here. I bought my car for $500 because it wasn't running. The person that owned the vehicle before me had the cam crack on him so he put a new motor in with new timing belt and water pump. He couldn't ever get it to run right. I got it running good now, after replacing the cam angle sensor and the timing belt crank puley was missing a few timing marks, but my es300 needs a new front bumper. I was about to order one, but would like to convert to the 97-99 style front bumper. I tried to search, but couldn't find any answers. Has anyone done it, and how involved was it? I am mechanically inclined and my family owns a body shop. I just don't want to waste too much money if it's going to be too much. From the looks of it it doesn't seem like it would be, but I've started other projects thinking it wouldn't be much work , and ended up being way too involved to be worth it.

I was also wondering if anyone knows what the orange oil light indicates. I bought an obd2 daignostics module, but it only will clear the fault. I recently changed the oil, but no matter how many times I clear it it comes back.

Time to relax now. Just got done changing the rack and pinon along with both front lower baljoints and both upper O2 sensors.

I appreciate any help I can get with this.

    Thanks,

    Jeremy

  11. Can anyone give me instructions on how to test the Cam Sensor? I try and search the forums here, but thousands of completely unrelated posts come up. Here are the pics of the spliced wires. I circled where the original clip would have been. If anyone would be inclined to find out which wire goes to which It'd be greatly appreciated. Does any one know what these wires are for?

    post-32052-1161117737_thumb.jpg

  12. You'd have to show me a picture of the wires.

The breater hose connects post MAF. If the intake is left open at any poitn after the maf, it will throw it off.

I couldn't find anywhere after the MAF that it would plug into.

I just got back from towing it to Autozone and the CEL it is throwing is P0340 from what they said this is the cam angle sensor. Can anyone give me a pic of where it's at? I know if the sensor is bad or disconnected that it would run similar to what it is now, so I think that's the culprit.

    Thanks,

    Jeremy

  13. yep, gotta love toyota's embrace of the obd2 program early.

sounds like a classic case of a torn intake air boot.

I've checked over the intake (It has a cheap ram air intake on it) and all the boots are fine. The vacume system all looks fine too. There is one vacume hose from the valve cover though, that looks like it should go back to the intake, but it is left open. I'd think that this wouldn't cause the car to not run properly though, as it would more than likely go back into the intake before the MAF. I don't think that it is the MAF because when it is idleing I can unplug the MAF and it will die....maybe it's not sending the right signal, can anyone tell me how to test the sensors.

I have another question, while looking around the engine bay last night I noticed a group of wires that were spliced then taped up. It's about 8 wires in the upper left hand corner of the engine bay. It goes underneath the cowl and to the right side somewhere. Can anyone tell me what these wires go to?

    Thanks,

    Jeremy

  14. Hey fellas, this is my first post here. I just bought a 94 ES300 (prod date was 10/93) that has kind of an odd problem. I can start it and it'll run and idle (idle is a little rough) but as soon as I give it a good push on the gas pedal it dies off and takes a while to start again. While it is running though I can gently give the car more gas and it'll rev up fine until I give it a harder push and it dies again. I'd take it down somewhere to get the CEL checked out, but I can't drive it. From what I gather this car is OBD2, this info is correct? Any help I can get is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Jeremy
