  1. My 92 is currently competely gutted (interior, engine bay, etc). Doing an autocross project with it because I don't drive it and can't say goodbye to it. But thats besides the point. Ive replaced the tranny with a somewhat built one with a 2000 stall. When it comes to the engine, I want to run just a single turbo set-up (7-10psi). Will a standard shortblock with my stock "30,000 mile" heads from Japan work or do I need to build the block myself and try to find forged pistons and new heads. I haven't been able to find forged pistons anywhere for the 3vzfe.. Thanks, I'm looking forward to this toy.

  2. 2001 GS430 vs. 06 350Z (6-Speed).. from 55-150+(quit looking) I pulled atleast 2 lenghts on the Z. I would assume around 155. Very amazed at the power of this car and the way it continues to pull at high speeds. I have been impressed ever since. Still don't keep up with the good old Corvette powered Buick.. tehehe

P.S. Sorry to all you Nissan guys who are having your 350Z and such, out ran with 4 door luxury cars coming out of the same country.

  3. I have a 2001 GS430 and would like to purchase a programmer/scan tool. I don't know much about the import aftermarket companies and who would make a (laptop to car) plug-in system with software for this car. Also, I would try to stay away from super expensive set-ups like the AEM Engine Management System. Anything affordable? Thanks for your help!

One more question: Would a programmer change transmission controls for shift points, etc.?

  4. I have a 2001 GS430 with 85,000 miles I just recently did a tune up on.

I completed an all synthetic fluids change (oil, trans, dif, break fluid, coolant), replaced: ngk iridiums IX's, optima battery, alternator, timing belt, cam seals, etc) also: cleaned the fuel tank and filter, intake manifold and throttle body. I would now like to reset the ECU to adapt to the new settings.

PROBLEM: It is currently wanting to run very rich with the clean system. Almost seems to be stuck in choke (temperatures 20-50 degrees here).

After reseting the ECU, any procedure to program the computer or will it learn on its own?

Help would be much appreciated with gas prices being the way they are. It's drinking a good bit of gas. Thanks again

  6. I just looked at those IPT transmissions.. very interested. Anyone on here have one? Id like to hear about some expieriences people have had with them. Shift too hard for everyday driving? Noticible increase in power? Noticibly shorter shift time?

I just replaced the fluid, its at the proper level with the proper fluid. It was acting up so I changed the fluid then it went down hill quickly. I used Castrol ATF+4 fluid (Dexron-III) and a new filter.

  7. OK.. so i killed the trans.. what should i do? Rebuild it or put in a reman. I have only gotten one quote so far and that was for pulling the trans and rebuilding and putting in a new torque converter in it for $2200. Decent price? Another option would be to sell the car for parts. What could I get out of it that way? If it makes more sense to part it I would love to because I wanted to sell the car after fixing the trans anyway.

  8. Odd problem I have run into. The car will refuse to use first gear unless you put the gear selector in LOW. Otherwise it will attempt to start in 2nd gear.. and shift through 3rd and 4th normally. Anyone heard of this? It has me puzzled. (Changed fluid & filter hoping it would help.. but it didnt)

  9. My 92 ES has become a car full of problems that every1 has learned it is ok to abuse. So it has been raining non stop here for about two days.. so what do I decide to do. I go through a field and now the car is COVERED in mud. I will post some pics as soon as I can.

Anyone else done this? People pull over and watch.. its great fun.

  10. I have a 92 ES and I have had that problem on the driver side. It seems that water came through from the gas tank fill compartment (I assume during carwashes, rain, etc.). Some silicone and it's never leaked since.

If it is a real bad problem.. pull the back seat out, sit inside and look into the trunk while someone sprays the back of the car everywhere possible. Wish you luck..

  11. I change it 2000-4000 miles.. just whenever it becomes dirty.. depending on driving, conditions and how much crap it decided to clean out of the motor (got it from a junkyard!!)

About the power steering.. what would i need to do to drain, flush and refil the whole system?

brakes and tranny filter&flush i just did 500 miles or so ago when i did my brakes (Bendix.. not so thrilled with them so far) (Mobil 1 Synthetic Dexron V.. very satisfied)

anything else you reccomend for that motor i got.. i seafoamed the hell out of it then did 130 afterwards cause it was smokin like a mf..

  12. I have a '92 ES and I am coming up for an oil change soon and I was wondering what I should use. I drive about 500 miles a week <_< and I probably don't drive as slowly as I should. I have used Royal Purple 10W30 for a while and was wondering what/if there is anything better or more cost effecient. (Change oil every 2500-3000 miles)

Also, we are coming up on winter here soon. Should I change the oil weight. The temperatures will be ranging anywhere from 20 to 75 degrees.

P.S. Would I get any fuel economy, performance, or steering improvements from flushing and refilling the power steering fluid system?

  13. Why would the throttle plate be stuck too far open? I am 99% sure it shut more after I cleaned it rather than more open. Could I have sprayed buildup into the IACV?

Although I did just blow a vacuum line somewhere just a minute ago. I was taking someone for a ride :whistles: I blew a line and stalled the car out so I will have to search that problem out tommarow. It will run at about 250-400 rpms idle now and sounds like some big block you would see up at the strip.

What vaccum's are most suceptable to breakage/disconnection when being given h*ll ?

  14. I have a '92 ES and I cleaned my Throttle Body, Mass Air-Flow sensor and cleaned out my EGR yesterday. I also replaced all of the vaccum lines with factory sized&bent lines. (Reset ECU afterwards)

The car now idles (warm or cold) at about 1300rpm's. Is this normal? Did I mess something up? What should I do about this prob? Thanks for the help.
