I recently purchased a new remote for my lexus because I lost the previous one. When I got it, and followed the instruction to program the new key, I must have messed up along the step. Now my existing spare will not lock or unlock my rx300, thus doesn't arm the alarm system either. Is there something I can do to fix this? Any help would be appreciated.
I recently bought a new "smart key" from streetkeys.com in CA-- $35 for the housing and blank key - $35 for programming (which wasn't necessary) - $30 for the lock smith at his location to save the $40 house call charge. - bottom line = I replaced the original smart keys which cracked with the vendor key for $70 vs the $300 plus quote from Lexus.

Based on your suggestion I checked my service tickets and all belts have been replaced. I use belt dressing (spray) on my kitcar (Pinto 4 cyl) which makes noise on start up so I sprayed alittle on the Lexus AC/ALT belt and haven't had the nose since. Thanks a million!

I am experiencing a loud whistle on my RX 300 at initial morning startup. It lasts for 3-4 seconds and then disappears. Since that is the only time it occurs it is impossible to trace. I have checked for loose hoses, etc, and wonder if it could be belt or water pump noise. I have 102K miles and have had all required service done at Lexus but reside 2 1/2 houes from the nearest dealer. Any suggestions?

I'm looking for recomendations for new tires for my 2001 RX300. I need tires that will preform well on snow and ice.
I managed to get less tan 30K on the original Bridgstone tires. I replaced them with Michelin MTX which give a harder ride but provided over 60K miles of great driving. I just replaced those tires with another set of the same. Tires are rotated every 7500 miles religiously. My RX 300 has 102K miles on it!

I have 97.000 miles on a '99 RX 300 and plan to keep it for two more years. I have been researchig third party warranty companies of which there are many. Does anyone have a recommendation one way or another on who to deal or not to deal with?
