God just buy an aftermarket system... it will be easier and more advanced than that 2000 technology. The new aftermarket systems are faster and offer more features in comparison to the OEM system.
Based on what I've heard/read, aftermarket seems the way to go. NavGuy, I'm the in SoCal area (I see you're in Long Beach). Who would you recommend to buy and install a system? I've seen pictures of really crappy looking installs that look like they were just slapped on and ones that look fully integrated and seamless. I'm looking to get a 2002 to 2005 GS300. I'm thinking about getting a 2003 - 2005 used GS. Finding one with navigation is difficult and the price is more than I'm willing to pay (since the ones with Nav also include the other premium options). I figured I would just get one without the nav and then add in a good aftermarket system later. I've heard that going the OEM route is just too costly/complicated.
Dcfish, since you are apparently the guru on this, can you contact me regarding installing an aftermarket nav system? Are you affiliated with LuxuryMods.com or do you have any suggestions for places that can do this in the SoCal area (I'm in Monterey Park, CA).
Thanks.trjnlaw@hotmail.com

Pioneer: You seem to really know what you're talking about. I'm planning on purchasing a 2002 - 2005 GS300. I want to add a Navigation system. I've heard getting an OEM nav system is a pain to install, but I've also heard that adding an aftermarket system reduces the value of the car (as you stated). I'm a bit lost ... okay, really lost.... about what I need to make as seamless of an integration, what system to buy and where to go to install it. I'm in the SoCal area. All suggestions are welcome. My email is TrjnLaw@hotmail.com. Thanks!
