  1. Hello,

I am planning on putting a towing hitch on our 04 RX 330 AWD. Would probably use it once or twice a year for a trailer with loaded wt less than 2000lbs. I want to go with an aftermarket option and not get fleeced by the dealer.

Do you guys have any recommendations on what has worked well for you in terms of the fit (Reese, Hidden Hitch, Draw Tite). I will be installing it myself so ease of install would be a major consideration (as some might need the exhaust to be loosened?)

    Thanks for your suggestions.

I have a drawtite, which was on my wife's car for 3 weeks. I had to remove it after I dinged her bumper cover! It looks like new and I am

in Xenia Ohio. It is very easy to install and I have all the bolts.nuts, etc. If you ever get up near Dayton/Xenia I could make you

a very good deal, as she has now traded off the Lexus. You can email me @ jeepster@wildblue.net. I could put in on for you,

if it works out that way.

  2. I purchased the tow prep pkg and plan to install an aftermarket, 3rd party vendor, class 3 hitch. The wiring harness seems to be a dealer only option and I'm getting the runaround from the dealer that I need to purchase the hitch and wiring harness as a Lexus pkg for $430. Looking at etrainler.com, there are a number of hitches available in the $150 range, but no "plug & play" wiring harness.

Suggestions on a hitch vendor (Draw-Tite, Curt)?

Any issues with 18 inch rims / spare and hitch clearance?

    A wiring harness option?

    Thanks in advance.

I have a Draw Tite that was on my wife's 2005 RX330 for a month. I nicked the bumper with the trailer hitch and the she made me remove the hitch. If you are near Dayton, Ohio, It's available CHeap!! Didn't get a chance to check on the wiring. The hitch looks like new.

  3. I'm posting this for my wife, as she doesn't do this kind of thing. Her 2005 RX330 AWD has had the "hesitation" or whatever it is since we got it. The dealer just lies his head off about what causes it, what they have done to "fix" it and what they will do in the future. I have no confidence in them (Lexus of Dayton - OHIO) at all. Every time it is in the shop, they screw up something else. So far she has gotten a "free" $120.00 oil change, that had the car back in three times to fix what they screwed up. I have read this whole thread and copied the TSB referenced earlier and will take that into them, and ask if it was performed. The problems are secondary to the poor service.
