  1. FYI - May 07, I had a leak. My mechanic used dye to find the leak, replaced a couple of o-rings- simple. Then instead doing a complete conversion, we went with Freeze 12 - it is a substitute, environmentally friendly, and cheaper. I just pulled the repair order. 5 cans of Freeze 12, 2 o-rings, locate the leak, vacuum the system, and I remember telling him to add a little more oil than normal, which he agreed was ok. No problems since. Freeze 12 does not get quite as cold as it's predecessor, but I can't tell any noticeable difference. Freeze 12 is on ebay.

  2. Buttons 1, 2 & 3 were used for speed dialing stored phone numbers. Button 2 is dual function and works as a mute during a phone call. Dealer installed Lexus phone systems were available for most models from the 1990 model year through the 2003 model year and even in to 2004 for one or two Lexus models. If I counted correctly, there were at least seven different phone systems available in the U.S. during the 14-15 year period. Very different Lexus phone systems were options in other countries.

The advertisement you are looking at is incorrect. The remote has nothing to do with the radio with the exception that making or answering a phone call automatically muted the radio ... also automatically lowered the HVAC fan speed.

Attached is a photo of the phone remote on my 2000 LS400 -- looks familiar, doesn't it?

Yes, your pic looks almost just like the one that I found. Wow, thanks for the download, Guru. You certainly helped me out. I will let the seller know that they are listing this thing incorrectly. Cheers. Tom
  3. That is a Lexus phone control module. It has nothing to do with the radio. See the little telephone icon between the "1" and the "2"?
I saw that, but wondered if the thing had features for both both radio (volume, channel change) and phone (volume, mute). Like you wrote - maybe the mute button merely silences the music when when the Lexus/optional phone system rings. Or it may simply mute only the phone. Then what do butons 1 and 3 do?

Maybe the other controls probably just control the phone volume, not the music. What's wierd is that it is advertised as radio control, with no mention of phone controls.

It is probably part of the phone sytem that could be bought either optionally or a dealer-item. Maybe someone will verify. Thanks. TR

  4. Nice Ride. I make the BFI 3.2 Kit (cold-air, ram-air, big intake) for the SCs. Sounds better, runs better, better gas, inexpensive, convenient versus making it yourself. Let me know if I can answer any questions for you.

  5. Ok, changed all the vacuum hoses, looked around at everything, don't think the coils are bad, started it up and noticed that the Tach goes down instead of up, car still runs rough, wondering if I didn't get something reversed, any ideas on that one?

    Thanks!

Ok, Now that I figured out my dumb A$$ mistake, I had put the coil wire on the 7 plug position and the 7 on the coil, needless to say the coil was bad! Replaced and it started up and ran like a champ, now though it is back to where it was and runs great for a few miles, then it runs rough in low RPM, when I open it up and it catches up it runs awesome. It does seem to run fine when it is in park and like I said it started out fine in drive but then started running worse when it warmed up. Any ideas on that one?

    What mods do you have?

  6. I have a '92 SC400. When I first start the car everything works fine, but after I drive for a while and turn the engine off it will not start back up until it sits for about 10 - 15 minutes. The engine turns over, it just won't start until I wait approx. 15 minutes. I've also noticed that sometimes while trying to start during this 15 minutes the radio flashes on and off along with the other electronics. The antenna stops and starts when extending. Any suggestions as to what it might be? Thanks.

Yes, and you need to reset your ECU from time to time by either disconnecting the battery or pulling the main fuse. Resetting the ECU will wake up your car. Over time the ECU will try to optomize performance against efficiency, which can tone down performance. What mods do you have?
